    Am I Being Unreasonbale?

Okay, I need to give some background context for it to make more sense. Warning, slightly long winded.

Basically, on this site to make a long story short is like Anime version of Marvel or DC. What I mean is, it's basically a fantasy kitchen sink. I.E. you have things from aliens, vampires to angels. Along with various time-lines, realms etc. I won't bore you with lore stuff because its convoluted and might take a minute, but if curious I'll expand on some of it if asked. Point is, superhumans of various types are common along with tiers of power. You have people at best, enhanced peak humans, to those who could crack a planet like a walnut.

In a later planned storyline, one of GM's decided they wanted the main antagonist to use a device that depowers the metahuman/supernatural population on earth who is a rogue member of a highly advance race called the Nalga in a bid to take over. This is done because they wanted the essentially normal humans to save the day and what not without relying on top tier beings like gods, super powerful aliens and so on. I've known them for a while and they're fair so I know they aren't lying. Not only would it depower people, but the advance tech except one character in particular of theirs named Graham who had thought someone might try to take out such things and thought of a back up plan to arm the resistance so to speak. This would also force people to think more since they would have to be more careful.

The goal is admirable, but I have problems with it.

First, I've never liked the depower plots. I've been through similar things on other sites, I never really enjoyed it even if its more fair this time. Other then that, its depowered to the point just about everyone works at a 'normal human' level of power. Again, this might of been done so normal humans could play a bigger role but there's no reason to go that extreme. Sure, I understand you'd obviously have to put a leash on the rediclously powerful characters but not to That extent. Not to mention, it stretches suspension disbelief if you think about it.

    To use a analogy...

Imagine, I happen to have a modern tank and a few people with slightly above physical stats try to come up and shank it with their rusty swords. I'm pretty sure you can guess what happens to the poor bastards. That's basically the samething when talking about a depowered population trying to take out a tank or similar from the damned Nalga. This is a race while having no powers(unless you consider smarts) has tech advance enough even god-like beings were loathe to mess with them. When talked about, its mentioned that they didn't need anything too strong as the depower thing would take care of the competition. Technically true, but it would make more sense to have them as a just in case. Further, assuming there is a hiccup and a resistance forms, I don't see a reason they could pump out enough to overwhelm in a short time. Realistically speaking(funny word considering the game world though)

The GM is fair though. So I assume they have something in mind, but doesn't mean I like it. Not to mention, as said stretches disbelief. For the most part, everyone likes the idea when it was discussed so I'm the odd duck out. I also feel it would make certain characters utterly useless, as one for example is a kid. Without the strength and what not that goes with it; the limitations of a girl that age would make them a liability. When brought up, they mention having powers and such would ruin what they're trying to do. I don't see how, but it hasn't budged.

I was thinking of bowing out of that particular saga. Problem is, with the way the site is, its like a extended game world. You have 'canon' which is your main normal version of your character who grows, changes and what not. Then AU threads(Alternate Universe) this doesn't really effect things out of said thread usually. Think for instance a main Marvel, then a bunch of branch off points. Some of my chars are fairly important or interconnected so I couldn't pull out All the way.

So, I was thinking of just mostly staying out of it but just having the important NPC's and what not that might be needed. Let everyone else enjoy it but its no fun forcing yourself. Thoughts?

Wait, so this is on another site?

Well I was gonna just say "Don't join if you don't like the RP" but if this is some other place... I don't know how things work there, really. I don't know how the setup is or what's considered "normal" or "reasonable" or even what the community is like over there.

So. Yeah. You asked the wrong forum. Sorry. :/ If you're having questions about this, just ask that site?

There's probably going to be an 'undo' option at he end of the tunnel, that or nightcrawler dies in the end as Deadpoolio kicks Sgt Americana in the junk.

If you like and trust the GM, then expect them to have something to change it at the end of the plot.

Also, you're putting a lot of emphasis on the powers aspect of things, is your character not more than that, and isn't the story bigger, and the idea being to overcome the problem and grow your characters in new directions?

Finally, all of that aside: How involved or not your characters are, the whole point of role playing games is that they're fun, and should be something you're doing to spend your free time relaxing and winding down, having fun.

If you're not having fun, then don't join in - it's a hobby; it shouldn't be a chore.

True. It's not that, just never cared for them but guess it doesn't hurt to at least try this one. Guess we'll see.

Your GM might have figured this to the point of forcing characters to grow and extend their abilities beyond kicking ass. Like, learn how to help out in the med bay or that motivational speech, people management or whatever and find out how they can contribute to the fight regardless of not packing a punch. Think of it like this; batman and black widow become to frontmen on the battlefield rather than doing the research and stealth, while Peter Parker focuses on an antidote for the depowering and Clark Kent holds the motivational speeches and tries to give civilians courage. It pretty much reverses character roles. Support becomes point and point becomes support. You don't have to be useless but your character might have to learn something new.

Though I also understand the sentiment you'll get out of the GM saying "Hey guys, join my RP, you'll have superpowers!" and then taking them away.
