What is the stance on probability-altering characters?
to be more specific, I'm thinking of a character who has a coin, and he can not affect how the coin will land, but if, say, he's in a fight and he bets on teh coin landing on 'heads' and it does, then his ability to alter probability will be triggered so that as long as there is even the slightest possibility he comes out victorious, he will. if it comes up tails though, then the power will be activated in reverse and he will be guaranteed to fail as long as there is the slightest chance that failure is possible
the problem with awesome roleplays is they attract awesome players, and the problem with having awesome players is they usually fuck up in awesome ways, and require awesome explanations to correct their awesome mistakes.

Also what's the difference between anima and ether?
Anima allows you to relive the memories of your ancestors, and ether is a drug.

^ is that some kind of mindfuck? 'cuz it's working.
An all-or-nothing probability of loss or victory in a fight between him and other characters wouldn't be balanced, methinks - He can have a probability power that alters/manipulates probabilities of things happen mid-fight or during mystery/adventuring to slant the odds in his favor, but situational absolutes should be avoided. It also depends upon his own power (it doesn't matter how lucky you are if you only stand a 0.0000000000001% chance of winning, after all), so no matter what you do you have a character who could arbitrarily beat the tar out of the strongest character present only to subsequently get beaten down by the weakest.
We Try Things. Sometimes they even work.

well, being a GM myself, i can understand why you would be hesitant to accept a character with my condensed description of him, but the entire point is that basically he isn't the 'gambling' type. the coin has an equal chance of fucking him over as it does saving him so he doesn't rely on it if absolutely possible, he prefers using his brains to outsmart, trap and trick his opponent. the only time i would have him 'win' at a coin toss that saves him from a loosing battle would be either when he is fighting an NPC, or me and the other person had already decided beforehand that my character would win the fight. Otherwise most of the coin tosses would either be false (his power doesn't activate when he uses as two headed coin because it is a 'fixed bet', only legitimate bets can trigger his abilities) or turn up screwing him over and i would write about him working against fate to try and last out as long as he could, knowing he is doomed to ultimately fail.
There's no fun in playing a character who can just go 'nope, i win' after all.
the problem with awesome roleplays is they attract awesome players, and the problem with having awesome players is they usually fuck up in awesome ways, and require awesome explanations to correct their awesome mistakes.

So for our GM (GM's)... my first post should be.... what? A continuation of my origin story started in my CS or what? Not sure how to start out or whatnot with this RP.
Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds talk about people.
Imagination is the preview of life's coming attractions.
BD, I replied to a PM very similar to this question just a short time ago. By all means, feel free to move forward with the CS for your character. I'm very interested to see where you go with this.
And as for the starting off point, you can do it as a continuation of your sample from the CS if you like. Some people have just used that sample as their first post. It's really whatever you want. This is your game, Hound and I are just here to keep it going smoothly.
And speaking of which, I am really very sorry for my lack of activity lately. Like I posted earlier I got hit really bad with the flu and it did a number on me. Not to get into details, basically I feel like I'm trapped inside the body of an 85 year old man who just took a major beatdown...
I am starting to feel better, and will be getting to posting asap. The only unfortunate thing is, because I was sick I missed 2 days of school, which basically put me behind by about a week because I am in an excellerated program. Though I do believe I'll be able to get at least something up tomorrow.
So again, I'm sorry and thank you for bearing with me while I've been ill and stepping up and answering any questions that prospective players may have had. You're an awesome group of players, and I'm glad to be playing this game with you all.

Alias: Horror Speech Color: Normal Color Identity: Victoria Character Alignment: Villain
Character Personality:
Victoria is crude, dishonest, and wayward. She wanders the streets of New Haven without too much of a directive besides daily attempts to mug whatever poor pedestrian comes across her. She also has several addictions including sugar, smoking, alcohol, and brand chips, despite having no need to eat or drink. Regardless of the fact that she knows this, she is extremely driven to purchasing such items with whatever cash she can gather. Even with her powers, she is afraid of superheroes, thinking herself incapable of taking them on, thus she prefers to operate on a criminal level that attracts as little attention as possible. She is satisfied with her life, but nevertheless complains when things don't go as planned, and all the same mocks wealthier individuals for being weak and that they could never live like she did.
Though she hates her own powers (luckily she had gotten past her gag reflex) she appreciates their efficiency, often joking with herself in such a way that one would assume she had a split personality -such wouldn't be far from the truth, though it is more that she sees her powers as a separate entity, rather than having an entirely different personality.
Origin Info/Details:
Victoria was born not on Earth, but some other planet. God knows where, and she doesn't really care. Anyways. On a meteor. Of course it eventually crashed on Earth just like every other damned space rock carrying something important. When it got there, the single cell on it began to propagate, growing into a strange plant-like organism capable of living on Earth. From there, things get strange. It eventually understood humans to be the dominant species on the planet, and adapted itself to eventually look like a perfect human -to fit in. This individual proceeded to wipe its memory and thus left Victoria in a strange world at a young age. Believing herself to be a human, she interacted well with everyone else after being taken into a foster program. But when she discovered her powers -alongside an entire classroom of terrified classmates- she knew she wasn't quite human. No, that'd be an understatement. She was as far as human a rock was.
Victoria abandoned the foster program and became homeless, eventually discovering she didn't actually need food or water like she thought for years before. Despite obviously lacking true humanity, she continued to act just like one, maintaining her same appearance and continuing to eat and drink as she pleased. Thankfully even with her terrible eating habits, she was unharmed by the masses of junk, alcohol, and smoke she inhaled. She did it for the taste and the feeling, she concluded. Now, still homeless, Victoria spends her days and nights either begging for cash, wandering, or mugging muggers in alleyways. No, she doesn't give back the muggers cash to the innocents. She takes it and spends it on convenience store items.
In recent days however, Victoria had begun to look towards the sky (metaphorically of course) and wondered how far her powers could take her. She didn't have to live homeless forever. She still appeared and felt human after all; why couldn't she live a normal life? Of course, that normal life would have to be gained illegally, she assumed. Heroes don't get tangible gifts.
Uniform/Costume: One really could find much worse dressers in New Haven, though Victoria is probably up there. Victoria wears as minimal clothing as possible to prevent her attire from being torn and mangled to shreds when she uses the nearly limitless possibilities of her power. A hoodie, underwear, and boots is all she needs considering her indifference to cold temperatures. Nevertheless, her hoodie is still a mangled wreckage of its former self, littered with holes and tears. Hero Type: Shape-shifter Power Level: City Level (operates on a Street Level)
Victoria's powers are that of chaotic and gruesome shapeshifting. Unlike more "clean" shifter individuals, Victoria is incapable of sustaining particularly specific shapes or forms; rather than being able to morph into a grandiose Bengal tiger, she can shift herself into a mangled, terrifying, four-legged creature with a vague similarity to a tiger. Most people call it a "Body Horror" power, reflective of her alias. Victoria can essentially grow or shrink limbs, as well as create new ones along with macabre biological weaponry including blades, claws, fangs, pincers, you name it... She can even generate a makeshift biological projectile system to fling hardened bony spikes at people. Her creations are grotesque in both their creation process and their final appearance, being akin to something one would see in an alien horror movie. Her body could potentially rip common people to shreds, or leave them as expansive bloodstains on the ground. Victoria is uncaring of morality or cleanliness, and so she kills with extreme efficiency, often with a pinch of "flair" to spice things up.
In addition, Victoria requires no food or water to sustain life, and even lacks the necessity for oxygen. Victoria can survive in extremely hot or extremely cold temperatures, and features a regenerative ability that would put most other supers to shame. In mere seconds she can regrow lost limbs, even reabsorb her own biological material should she need to reattach an arm or leg... or a body. By shifting her physiological makeup, she can make herself as strong, fast, or aware as she needs (to a degree). Her senses can be focused on to produce keener detection abilities, such as clearer and farther eyesight, or a powerful sense of smell. She can allow herself access to other spectrum of light, even create a sort of powerful electroreceptors.
One of her most sinister powers, however, is the ability to inject her own cells into another biological organism. Once inside, the cells can wreak havoc upon the individual's bloodstream and organs, gorging on flesh or secreting deadly toxins. Such an event requires she draw blood however, and supers with incredible stamina or resistance to pathogens could survive such an attack. Despite all this, Victoria cannot duplicate herself by way of fission, nor can she telepathically contact separated bodies of cells. Her main "body" is located in her head, and acts as an origin point. Should it be separated, other body parts and cells cease to function, and become dormant until Victoria reabsorbs them. Nevertheless, she can regrow herself without absorption. she can however, create cells to have a directive or basic nationalistic mind, thus allowing her to generate independent creatures from her own cells.
Strength Level: Variable (max: 100 tons)
Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Variable (max: 60 MPH)
Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: Limitless
Agility: Variable (max: 15x)
Intelligence: Average
Fighting Skill: Untrained
Resources: Minimal
Weaknesses:
Though Victoria seems for all tends and purposes invincible, she has a strong aversion to fire or corrosives. If a certain biomass of her body is instantly destroyed at one time before she can regenerate, her cells become inactive or die. Thus, fire and corrosives like acid can continually damage her body until nothing is left. Freezing her under extremely cold temperatures renders her cells dormant, disabling her ability to enhance her strength and break free.
Supporting Characters:
None
What can you bring to the RPG?:
The perspective of a homeless villain with a love-hate relationship with her own powers. A villain aspiring to be more than a sort of super-powered thug, with a desire merely to attain a better lifestyle through whatever means necessary.
The passing glances of a confused man garnered no attention from the gloomy Victoria. Her mopey face and drooped eyes only expounded on her lazy appearance sitting on the curb just outside the drugstore. She slowly inhaled the smoke of her cigarette, letting her hand fall down after each drag. Victoria sat hunched over the curb, her elbows resting on her knees. As far as her appearance was concerned, she was young enough to catch the attention of the police if they saw her smoking. She wore a hood just in case, not wanting to deal with the coppers so early in the morning. Her hood obscured her face just enough that if someone wanted to discern her age, they'd need to awkwardly walk up to her and lean over to catch a glimpse. And she doubted anyone was balzy enough to try something like that. But who knew what these police were trained to do.
She took another drag as a group of boys walked along the sidewalk, their cacophonous laughing irritating her nerves. Of course in her position she had to assume they were laughing at her. They walked by without nay trouble, but Victoria managed to catch a glimpse of one of them looking back at her with a grin. Her own red eyes blasted away his gaze and he hunched over with a twitch and a scoff, continuing to joke with his groupies. That's right, laugh about the homeless crack whore. She has AIDS and yellow teeth. Gross. If they actually knew her, joking about venereal diseases would be the least of their worries.
She could very well have infected all four of them. They'd go home with a headache and wake up in the morning with every pore in their body seeping with blood. "They died of heavy hemorrhagic fever" the doctor would say. And that would be that. There were many times when she was just an inch away from murderizing someone who laughed at her, or who looked at her funny. But even she had a hint of patience and self-control.
Habitually, Victoria reached into the pocket of her hoodie to fondle the cash and coin inside, checking to see how much she had remaining before she needed to scrounge around for more. She lived by the day, rather than the month or year, perpetually replenishing her funds to buy pointless food and drink that she didn't even biologically require. There were times when she felt she was simply eating and drinking to feel human. The day she doubted this was still tattooed to her brain, and she wished she had the ability to get rid of her memory.
Throwing aside the expended cigarette without caring to douse the still burning ember, she stood herself up and threw her hands into her pockets. With a deep, pointless breath, she stepped off the curb and walked through the gas station to the streetside, debating whether or not today would be the day she grew some balls and robbed a bank. The looming threat of some spandex superhero still put her off, but she was growing warmer to the consideration. Unless they had a blowtorch for hands, she'd be fine, right? It wasn't like all superheroes could fling dillion-degree fireballs, right? But weren't fire powers pretty common already? Fuck. Maybe tomorrow.

Just a few facts that I thought you should know...
Life increases your chances of dying,
so why are you trying at all?
On a walk in the summer sun you're more likely to be in a homocide,
not to mention the cancer you'll get and the light waves frying your eyes.
As you're breathing this air,
you're increasing your chances of getting diseased,
so retreat in your house with your spouse,
the one person most likely to kill you.
Imagine a leaf as it falls to the ground
whining about an obstruction on the way down,
curling itself to shield from the wind so hopelessly.

... was that PM any chance by Valerium Therme, asking you about a probability-based character who uses dice?
lol, anyways, I am currently working o getting my own rp off the ground so i will probably not be posting a character for this for some time. It just seemed interesting and I was wondering what kind of a stance on the character i was thinking of this rp would take. I am glad to hear that you guys are very open minded about this *chuckles*.
the problem with awesome roleplays is they attract awesome players, and the problem with having awesome players is they usually fuck up in awesome ways, and require awesome explanations to correct their awesome mistakes.
