This feels kinda familiar, How many players do you plan for?
Name: Sion Darkthorn
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Race: Human
Appearance 1:Spoiler
Appearance 2:Spoiler
Personality: Sion's attitude revolve around mainly the golden rule. He treats well those who treats him well, he kicks the crap out of those who pester him. He can be seen as a cold and unforgiving individual but in reality, he just wants a peaceful life. A typical person who doesn't like to butt in on matters which doesn't concern him, Sion's companion is only his shadow, literally. Due to this, others might see him as a weird and a loner.
Back Story: Born of a broken family of 4, Sion was left to the care of his mother where he inherited his shadow abilities. It was a known fact that mages were loathed in society so Sion and his mother kept their powers a secret. However, one day, at the age of 13, Sion was training his powers when a passerby saw what he was doing. Sion was manipulating his shadow, turning it into a form of a human where the shadow and Sion talked, although Sion was the only one talking. Thinking this was evil, the passerby reported this, causing a dozen of soldiers to come to their house. Sion's mother barred the door as she shouted for Sion to escape. Sion knew what had to be done and grabbed a kitchen knife. The door was knocked down as his mother fell to the floor, incapacitated. The soldiers saw Sion as they lunged to tackle him.
Then and there, several of the soldiers were slain as a shadow appeared and in its hand, the knife. The soldiers tried to fight back but their earthly blades did nothing. However, there was one soldier who wielded an enchanted sword that sliced the shadow in 2, causing Sion to cry out in pain as feedback. Young as he was, Sion was imprisoned for the crime of multiple murder and by the time he would reach 18, he would be executed at dawn's first light. For a year, he remained at the prison cell, he didn't know what had happened to his mother and now, he was a criminal. Soon, he heard of a rumor that there was a place where he could regain himself. During his time at the cell, he practiced himself and trained his body. At the strike of midnight, a guard came in for the routine patrol and when he got close to Sion's cell, a shadow lunged and incapacitated the guard. Sion took the keys as he escaped into the night.
But, disaster struck. His luck went short as he got captured by a mage. The mage, knowing of his abilities, took Sion and told him to atone for his sins. To not fight for vengeance but instead, to fight in order to avoid what happened to him to happen to others. Then and there, Sion knew his calling and together with the mage, travelled to Carnor's tower.
Skills before entering the tower: Sion is quite skilled with the blade and as such, he carries a black blade that is tied to his waist. He has good agility and is quite good in cooking(considering he did the cooking when he was with his mom). Other than that, Sion is trained in the martial arts and has the worst talent when it comes to the arts.
Magic Focus: Shadow Magic, he can manipulate HIS shadow to do his bidding. The shadow is fragile and can be easily destroyed by an enchanted weapon. Sion also has a background of Umbramancy, spells which concern darkness(although not necromancy).
Hmm....alright....I am gonna let things slide and accept.

It do have a bit of a Dragon Age feel to it Nephiliam, but it is not quite that setting either.
I have a question;
Is it possible to be a half elf?
If so, I would be glad to join.
"Who we are I'll never know
But when we spoke I knew you well
You knew me well
You loved me through and through
I never thought I would watch you leave us
From a room as a kid I held so close
I was a son made up on sand
You were the wind that let me go
I'll say goodbye
So this is goodbye
But I'm afraid to speak
So with words I'll tell the story
You meant so much to me
And like the night upon nights to come
I will dream of you
And know that I will see you seen
Give me the strength to carry on!
Tide!
You are the ocean tide!
The swells swept you away
I was a son made of sand
You were the wind that let me go
When the ocean tide has risen to high
And the waters have come to carry you away
Remember I will always be there to sing you to sleep....."
It is off course up the the GM, but if this setting is based on Dragon Age then most likely you can have half elves, most similar fantasy settings have them.
Name: Amelia Winecraft
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Race: Human
Appearance 1:
Appearance 2: Same as 1
Personality: Cruel and calculating with a thirst for power. She is kind and sweet on the outside, but dark and demented underneath. (Think a young Umbridge: A personality like poisoned honey.)
Back Story: Born to a rich mage family, Amelia grew up learning that she was better than everyone else. She had a divine right to rule over all others, and all others were mere peasants (even other mages.)
Skills before entering the tower: Strategy and social manipulation
Magic Focus: Enchantment (using written words/runes to make something (or someone) magical: Track someone with something that belonged to them, give someone intangibility/invisibility temporarily, curse something, etc.)
Ice magic
D-[Potions/Poisons]
So, how is the magic going to work? Runes, ancient words, harry potter, something else or does it just work?
And about the magic focus, does it limit the people in their spells? Is a water focused mage not able to use fire spells or does it find very hard to do, or does the water mage have much more powerful waterspells?
