    Forsaken Hearts [ Garinovitch & Kaycey ]

    Dead due to partner inactivity.

Across the beautiful halls of the lavish estate, a young man stood at the ornate doorway, his face illuminated by the light of the room's chandelier. The boy, dressed in a comfortable, V Neck sweater laced over a bright red tie smiled to the master and mistress of the house, gently dropping his bags at his feet so he could greet them with a short bow. As he stood back upright, he admired the interior decor of the house. The inside of the estate was very lavish and aristocratic, definitely everything he was expecting and more when the place was thoroughly described to him in writing. The young man was a lean gentleman, and only stood about five foot nine in height. He could tell that this came as a surprise to the masters of the estate, as they were most likely expecting a physically large man when they were informed that they would be receiving a bodyguard in their employ. One of the boy's most defining features were his different colored eyes, one a pale blue, and the other a distinctive jade green.

There was a drawn moment of awkward silence as the boy's eyes darted back and forth across the room, to his dismay, the young girl he had been assigned to was nowhere to be found. His eyes turned back towards her parents, whom were still staring intently at the boy. The silence was soon broken as the girl's mother smiled, "You must be the new servant."

Servant? The boy thought. He didn't really know what to make of the word, he had been told that he was supposed to protect the daughter of this estate, but nobody told them that his cover identity was supposed to be that of a common servant. The young man wasn't too keen on the prospect of having to do the dirty work of a common servant. After a few moments of deep contemplation, the boy nodded without saying a word, he decided it was in his best interest to simply agree and not leave a negative first impression on the girl's parents. After all, the family was being extremely generous and hospitable by allowing the boy to stay at the house. The man of the house extended his hand to the boy, "It's a pleasure to meet you ---" he paused for a moment, trying to remember the boy's name.

"John." The boy responded as he took the man's hand into his, "John Roselle."

The girl's mother nodded, "It's nice to meet you John."

    "Likewise," John smiled in return.

"So." The girl's father began. "I just wanted to make sure, you were sent by the government, to protect our daughter?"

John nodded, "That's right." John wasn't much of a bodyguard, but he supposed that's basically what he had came there to do.

"Do you have any sort of paperwork?" The girl's mother inquired.

John shook his head, "Not really, I can give you my card if you'd like."

The girl's parents nodded as John buried his hand into his coat's pocket, removing a small card and placing it into the father's hands. The mother and the father looked at the card, deeply confused. The card wasn't the average business card that they had expected, it was a plastic-coated piece of paper, an English-style playing card. The card had a large, red heart branded across the middle, along with the insignia of John's organization. The father handed the card back to John, slightly puzzled. "Right, well. I'll go get our daughter."

"Appreciate it," John responded, smiling as he buried the Ace of Hearts back into his coat pocket.

John tapped his foot for a few moments as the girl's mother walked closer to him, "Listen." She began, lowering her voice to a whisper, "We haven't actually told our daughter yet about this. She still thinks you're just a servant. We figured you'd be able to explain it better, since we don't understand the situation at all."

John nodded, "Right. That shouldn't be a problem." He responded, lowering his voice to the same whisper.

Alice had been intently set on the examining of her shoes for the remainder of the day. She had at least ten, though it seemed every time she counted she got a different number. Ten pairs or ten shoes individually? If it was individually, then she only had five pairs. Being a lady coming of age, you'd think this was a simple task but she was still focused on whether or not they were in the correct color coordinated order. Her dress was a bleached color of white, with the exception of the blue corset laces that could be seen on her back. It was heavy, though since there was no outing today a metal cage was not required of her. Her feet were bare, as she'd taken off her blue satin shoes to include them in the count of her leather foot apparel. The girl had just turned sixteen months previous, and there were already suitors lined up for miles. Alice wasn't too concerned with matters of the heart, but days that she could relax on were few and far between. Her developing body had curved into a healthy bust of above average size. Her bosom was the envy of all wives and ladies. Though her mother made sure this was hidden in all of her dresses, whether they be formal or for a day spent in the park. Her behind was almost non-existent, something her ladies in waiting constantly teased her for. Though she rarely was in the same realm with them, let alone close enough to hear their comments. Her legs were long and thin, though this was where all of her height lay. She reached a height of 5'7 and nothing more. Her torso hadn't seemed to lose it's baby chub quite yet, though there was in no way a bulge in her dress. She was not quite yet a full grown woman, though it was quite trivial because no man had ever laid eyes on her bare body.

"Alice!" she heard her father's voice reach a high note as he hollered her name from down the hall. Her large, vibrant blue eyes couldn't help but roll as she stood and trudged out of the room. As she rounded the corner of the staircase, she saw the door open and realized there was a guest. Her posture was picked up and her face was no longer holding an irritated tint.

"Yes, father?" Alice greeted him as if it were needed for anything other than etiquette. Her thick, dark red hair was curled onto her shoulders and a bright royal blue bow sat atop the crown of her head. Alice's cheeks were speckled with light brown freckles and her teeth were in perfect alignment with each other, something she'd graciously inherited from her parents. There was a young man at her home's ornate and all-too-lavish door, smiling a bit coldly. It wasn't cold, per say... but he was examining her, watching her for some reason that was unknown to the girl at this point in time. The sixteen-year-old's poised expression didn't falter as she batted her eyes a few times and crossed her arms behind her back, giving him a small bow. "Hello..." she trailed off, looking to her parents for assistance. After all, her parental panel had promised her they'd never be so poor as to take in boarders. Hopefully he was a new stable hand or something of such. Otherwise he was in for an ugly family scene.

John watched intently as the girl that he was assigned to protect revealed herself from the many corridors of the beautiful hallways. A pretty woman in her mid teenage years, John Roselle was thoroughly impressed by the nature in which she carried herself, along with her excellent, stoic composure. It was pretty obvious by her stellar etiquette and the way the girl presented herself that she probably didn't get outside very often, and was probably one of those girls that were a product of "perfect parenting" from her parents. John wondered for a moment if he would probably be a very bad influence on her and contemplated whether or not he was the right person for the job. Originally, Mariya, the Queen of Spades was assigned to take on this mission of guarding this girl, but John was switched out at the last minute due to some "organization complications." John smiled and bowed in return when Alice, the girl he was to protect for the next few months, greeted him with a short "Hello,"

When Alice looked towards her parents, her father smiled, "Alice, this is Mr. Roselle." He began, motioning towards John.

John smiled, "Please, just call me John."

"Right," Her father continued, "John is going to be staying with us for the next few months, for uh," The man glared towards John, hoping he would explain the situation.

"I'm your new servant," John remarked, still smiling. John realized that it was best not to explain the severity of the situation right now, it would be a long, drawn out story and he wasn't exactly in the mood for dealing with a barrage of questions. He figured that he would be able to put up with the little servant charade for awhile, and felt that it was probably best to leave it at that for now, though he realized that the girl probably wasn't an idiot and would most likely get suspicious pretty fast. John wasn't really sure how he was going to explain the situation when the time arose, but he knew he had some time to think about it. For now, the boy was eager to simply poke at the girl's brain and get on her nerves for a little bit. Alice's parents looked at each other, it was obvious they weren't too keen on keeping their daughter in the dark, but they decided to inevitably play along.

"Alice, would you help our uh, new servant and show him to his quarters?" Alice's father inquired, rubbing the edge of his hair.
