Children of Gotham

Had an idea for a roleplay with the following premise.

Gotham City: a breeding ground for evil and injustice. The corruption of Gotham City has long produced more and more violent and disturbed individuals, which in turn just fed its growing corruption. One such disturbed individual created by the violence of Gotham, however, was Bruce Wayne, who turned around and fought the corruption of the evil city as Batman.

The Caped Crusader's war against evil went on for almost two decades, and while he did much to keep the mob bosses and madmen from ruling the city, they were never truly rid of Gotham's corruption. Every citizen of Gotham lived in fear that if they were in the wrong place at the wrong time they might fall victim to the sinister plots of the Joker, Victor Zzazz, the Scarecrow, or other such lunatics. The police who fought injustice alongside Batman feared that perhaps one of their own commrades was under the payroll of some major mob-boss, and so more disturbed souls grew up in the city despite Batman's efforts.

Then came a day that many said was the darkest in Gotham's history, Batman was brutally murdered by Joker's thugs, and discovered to be none other than Bruce Wayne. With Batman out of the picture, crime in Gotham Sky-Rocketed, and the city was plunged into anarchy.

One day, an anonymous and incredibly wealthy benefactor started contacting various seemingly ordinary citizens of Gotham, recruiting them to become "Caped Crusaders," as he called them, vigilantes fighting the corruption of Gotham in the late Bruce Wayne's place.

Kewl! And I'd prefer if all players were playing original characters too. People who grew up in Gotham and perhaps are still in their youth. Though they can have links to classic Batman characters. In fact that's preferred.

hmm... honestly, i don't think Jokers Goons would be able to kill Batman, and even if they were, Joker would kill the goons that did it. Joker has a formula

• Joker causes trouble
• Batman comes to stop him
• Batman beats Joker and takes him to Arkham
• Joker breaks out of Arkham
• cycle starts again

as much as i hate quoting the films, he's like a dog chasing a car, his worst nightmare is the day he catches it. it's all a game to him.

honestly, this would make a lot more sense if he was killed by Bane, Firefly, or, most likely Hugo Strange's men. being that Hugo wants to replace Batman.

How about, Hugo kills Bruce, and Nightwing and the others make it public because if they didn't, Strange would take Bruce's place. bare in mind, Strange is a genius, so stealing Bruces identity after killing him wouldn't be a problem for him, neither would covering his tracks.

I was thinking that Joker would have killed the thugs who did it, and it would be just some thug who got lucky, making the Joker furious. But I suppose Hugo Strange's men doing it would be better, and making it public would also prevent Strange from becoming the new Batman. Good idea.
