    When the Stars Fall (Reboot)

There was a roar of excitement throughout the room. The room was pitch black and nearly a hundred bodies we shoved into a relatively small space. They were gathered around a ring with a hexagon shaped fence around it. Inside the ring were two men one Hispanic and of medium build. The other Caucasian and large. Black lights were throughout the room so that the whites of people's shirts and teeth glew purple throughout the room. A young man with black hair stood in the back of the room against the wall were the bodies weren't so tightly packed. "So what do you think of the black light fight?" He asked the man beside him. "Thought the black lights made things interesting when the blood went flying. Wanted to do strobe lights but if the fighters have seizures we might have problems." Up above them was a night club full of life and party. People danced the night away clueless to what was about to happen.

[Sorry for the short intro I wasn't sure who to include in the reboot so I went without putting you guys in places. Amodeus you are the man beside me]

    THUD THUD THUD... WHACK!

The big man's fist slammed across the face of his victim, causing an explosion of color to splatter against the audience. John used the brief pause between his opponents practiced combinations to spin around and land a backwards fist against the unsuspecting man. The audience roared! This was what they came to see blood, and the way it lit up in the black light was impressive, he had to admit. John lifted his fist in the air and let out a roar, he was supposed to put on a good show...

    SMACK!

His opponent recovered faster than John expected and landed a well placed roundhouse kick to his face, busting his lip. John stumbled back giving his unlucky opponent the satisfaction and to cover up the fact that the kick hardly made him blink. They exchanged a series of blows and grapples, John held back of course, and let the equilibrium of the fight change back and forth. This was good for the audience and the gambling. However, it was time for the fun to end. His opponent had John in a firm grapple, holding his shoulder and elbow preparing for a take down, when the big man quickly changed his posture and slammed his shoulder into the other mans stomach knocking the air out of him. With a effortless motion John heaved his body above his head to the cheers of the crowd and let him sit there for just a few heartbeats to let the crowd really soak in the moment before he ended his opponents night with a slam to the mat.

John quickly left the cage and found his way to the Red Room, it was where the fighters went to get ready for the big event. John washed his face briskly and put on a tank top. He liked to fight bare chested because he could claim blows just slid off. In reality they land perfectly fine just don't hurt, but he cant have everyone knowing they are fighting some mutant freak. That just wouldn't be fair!

It was only about five minutes before John showed up at his customary spot at the bar. It was here that he found his, colleague. John, or Tank has he was called in the ring, took awhile to warm up to people and the two's relationship had been mostly business thus far.

"He was good!" John smiled a awkward smile, stretching the lips to show the blood still staining his bottom teeth. His lip had, of course, already healed. Most fighters don't scratch him, he usually resorts to breaking his own nose or some other means to keep perceptions up. By this time the bartender already had John's customary winning drinks laid out before him, three shots of Jack and a Budweiser, which is not surprising since he hasn't had to get anything else yet. If he lost it would probably be the same thing though....

“KICK HIS FACE IN!” Chesca yelled, gripping the fence and shaking it a bit before she was pulled off. “Hey!” she pouted, crossing her arms. She was going for the Hispanic in the fight, having placed a decent sized bet on him. Ever since she got her own apartment, she’d been leaving it more and more often to come hang out at different places, and this new club their team had put together was perfect. Chesca felt herself being easily pulled back by the collar of her black motorcycle jacket by someone trying to get a better view, but simply turned around and punched the guy in the face. She smirked, brushing off her hands and turned back around. She jumped up and down, cheering, black hair flying as the fight started and the two men began circling each other. Every time a good punch was thrown and blood sprayed, Chesca let out a loud “Yeah!” and laughed.

Soon, the fight was over though and she decided to get a drink. She could always fight her way back up to the front again if need be for another fight. She pushed her way through the bodies until she was out of the fight watching crowd, and was able to head upstairs to the bar. She got herself a couple shots and took them right there before laughing at the crowd of people just dancing away. She shook her head with a smirk, about to head back downstairs when a hand grabbed her around her bared stomach and tried pulling her into the dancers. Chesca simply rolled her eyes, kicking the guy’s knee and watching him crumble to the ground. She smirked, turning and running back down stairs once more in half a second, wishing she was the one fighting in the ring.

Ever since they got the new place, Christian quit his job at the bar, and got a new one. At the bar. Their bar, really. It made sense, really. Him being a bartender and all. It was pretty much the same job, but this place was far fancier than his old bar. Frankly, he kinda missed the danky place, missed the old faces, but he made more money here. They got quite a lot of people, which Christian didn't understand. He assumed it must be the ring that drew the crowds.

When Chesca came up to the bar, he grinned, and slid her her favorite shot.

"Hey there doll face," He said, speaking over the din. He absently cleaned a glass, as was his habit, when Chesca got into another fight with a patron. Christian rolled his eyes and as she walked away shouted, "Chesca if you keep roughing up my customers I'm gonna throw you the hell out!"

"Yeah. The lighting's great. Still, the darkness makes me a bit jumpy." Amodeus flipped the safety on and off on his pistol It was a nervous habit of his, his hands always needed to be occupied by something. As much as he loved watching MMA fights, he was still on edge. He needed a drink. "It's a nice club, though. You did well, Zeif. Makes sense that you're in charge."

He had grown more fond of his teammates since the beginning, a few months back. Since he had no one else in Japan, they had become a sort of family for him. Still, he never felt at rest. He wasn't sure if it was his line of work. A fair amount of people had died by his hand. Nothing to brag about, he could still count them on his fingers, but there it was. His thumb kept switching his safety on and off.

He made his way over to the bar. Christian had taken over serving here. Fitting, seeing as he was already a bartender previously. He always seemed so cheerful, lighthearted. Who knew how the guy did it. They were in some heavy shit, after all. If my life were a movie, he'd be the comedic relief.

"Chris. You know what I want." He lifted his glass of rum to his mouth, sipping slowly. People always called him weird for drinking rum on the rocks. It was his favorite, though, the soft spice undertones complimented by the sharp chill of ice. It was simple; it fit him. He couldn't shake the uneasiness from himself, though. Truthfully, you could never know what a night like this would bring. He hoped he was wrong.
    Dust to dust.

Christian was talking to a girl when Amodeus appeared at the bar. Christian winked at the girl and told her they'd talk later. When she walked away, Christian nodded his head at Amodeus. Christian liked him, though not for any real particular reason. Amodeus did his job, and did it well. He wasn't a complete asshole, and was a very pleasant individual, even considering the people he had probably killed. But still something seemed off about him, more than usual. It was in the way he stood, like he was prepared for someone to put a gun to his head. Christian understood the feeling, and decided to try and lighten the mood.

"Well look who it is, Mr. Gloom and Doom himself. You always look so somber," Christian said, grinning. He made up his rum on the rocks and slid it down the length of the bar towards him. Christian leaned against the bar and really studied Amodeus's face. His brows knit in concern.

"You alright? You look like you're expecting a knife in the back."

"It's a nice club, though. You did well, Zeif. Makes sense that you're in charge." If that were the case everyone would still be here. Zeifer took a sip from his drink as the lights flashed and the people roared. Clay wins another one. What a brute. The club had been a good idea, and it turned out grand. For the most part the cops had let off their trail, or at least the trail they thought they were following was a fake one. Icarus had been a great member of the team, he was gone now. He hadn't died, or not in front of Zeif's eyes. No what happened to him was something far more complex. One moment Icarus was there, the next he was gone.

They had run into another man like them. someone with powers. This guy had put them on their heels for a week but they finally tracked him down. Turned out his power was to drain you of your powers. They didn't just drain away into nothing, he made you use them. Like in their first fight Zeif's lightning had flew out of his hand with out his control. It went right into the guy's body without a scream or cry of pain. He just smiled like he had gotten a hold of your credit card and just put you in bankruptcy. Zeif had been too shocked to do anything and the man got away. A week later though they had him surrounded and had managed to beat him pretty good without the use of their powers. But the tricky bastard had an ace in the hole. He forced their powers out without them even activating them but this time he didn't just absorb the lightning like he had before. No he let it hit.

This would have been just fine if Zeif had been the only one affected. Unfortunately this was not the case. Time felt like it had slowed down. Zeif felt the voltage leaving his fingers, enough to disintegrate a man. It flew in blue bolts through the restaurant kitchen they had been in. The lights flickered as power left their bulbs and joined with the bolt flying at the leech. Zeif wasn't going to let the man take his power like he had before. No, this time he was going to burn. He added to the power giving it his all. He thought, 'If he wants my power, he can have it.' Then he saw something that made the blood rush out of his face. Icarus went limp and fell to the floor just as the body was burned away into a black pile of dust which exploded across the kitchen tiles, counters, and wall. Zeif knew something was wrong. He ran over to Icarus and shook his body but he didn't respond. "Icarus. Icarus. ICARUS!" The week following they buried his body six feet under without a soul.

Chesca went back downstairs, rolling her eyes at Christian’s empty threats while she mingled with some of the VIPs. She started reenacting the fight, a small circle of people forming around her as she punched and kicked the air in the same way John had. Most of them just chuckled at her, some were impressed by the seeming strength behind her actions and others the speed of them. Either way, she finished and laughed about it, talking to the small crowd around her about how whenever she fought, they best be sure to place their bets on her if they didn’t want to lose their shirts. She began walking away from some of the people when she saw Zeif standing against a wall looking rather spacey. She tilted her head and walked over to him, waving a hand in front of his face. “Hey, hey, hey, hey,” she grinned. “Come on, you need a drink,” she said, turning around and walking towards the bar once more. She simply hoped Zeif would follow her and maybe they could get his mind in the party mindset.

After she walked upstairs again, she saw Amodeus sitting at the bar now talking to Chris. She smiled and hopped over, leaning against the bar as if to put her head between the two of theirs to make her presence obvious. “What are we talking about?” she asked, just being friendly as she looked between the two. Both of them looked rather odd as well, like they were concerned or thoughtful, making Chesca roll her eyes. “All of you guys need to have some fun!” she yelled, frowning a bit. She leaned over the bar, coming a few feet off the floor as she reached behind it for a bottle and took it, having a swig before setting it back. “Come on, Chris. I know you can dance. Take a break and come dance with me,” she grinned, the loud music blaring and impossible to ignore. She just hoped her offer was impossible to ignore as well as she smiled at him while still leaning, blue eyes wide while she stared at him.

John sat reminiscing over his drinks has the other members of the team gathered. They were all so deceitfully talented it made him chuckle. Who would have thought they were probably the deadliest force in Japan? John had not been on any missions with his new team yet, he got the offer to join a few weeks ago but they hadn't been sent out since then. So he fights a couple times a week in the cage to make ends meet.

"When do you think we will get an assignment?" John slid down the bar a few seats and spoke to the team. He was anxois to have a real fight, the bouts in the cage were barely holding him over.

“Come on, Chris. I know you can dance. Take a break and come dance with me,”

The beautiful Chesca was the best part of the team so far John had decided. She was always up for a good time, and John had the suspicion she would make one hell of a opponent in the cage. Well, perhaps aside from Chris. He was quick witted and always had a drink handy, John just had a weak spot for bartenders...

"Ill cover for you Chris, you better not keep the lady waiting. She is liable to kick your ass!" John winked at Chris has he spoke and playfully punched Chesca's arm has he walked around the bar.
