    You're probably tired or have a sense of humor like me.

    Everyone so far has given decent answers. Thank you for participating in my experiment. Most humans seem to value objects that are of no use to them in their means of survival, but instead their temporary means of achieving happiness. Some of you listed things that would grant you happiness, others listed things that would aide them in their survival through these tough times. Really think about the things that are most important to you and why. <3
    Largely because of these things we call 'banks', 'storage units', and 'government welfare' makes individual preservation of the basics in a crisis rather unimportant.

    What's important, is that after having your life turned upside-down, you have something -anything- to keep you sane during the transition-period.

    So the safety-blanket, the travel-towel, DO NOT UNDEERESTIMATE.

    Thriw these mooks on a boat, and tell them it's sinking, and they'll all go for the lifeboat (or helicopter)

    Very good. The point of the question however was to find out what object is the most valuable to a person. Would they choose something sentimental like family photos or a teddy bear, or would they choose a weapon of some sort to protect themselves (unless you don't do the attack scenario or whatever.)

    Even when taking into consideration that my wallet has vital things in it (ID card, bank card, etc) I'd still take my computer. It's the most expensive and useful item in the whole goddamn house.

    Even taking that into consideration, it'd take me about half a second to pocket my wallet while grabbing the PC

    Assuming my whole family was out, I would grab my kitty.
    If my animals were all out, probably my phone.

    I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine.

    Then you must accept that the unintended consequence is that you failed to mention a complete WROL situation, in addition to loss of nearly all possessions.

    Guns can currently be replaced rather easily in America at this time (unless you're a felon). And law-enforcement usually provides enough deterent to social-anarchy that saving my own ass from the fire for the next 15 seconds is of larger concern than whether or not I can shoot a rampaging moose in the nieghborhood... because I could use their guns.

    RL Social-networks kinda make loss of all worldly possessions a minor hinderance, largely because this excludes a little thing called money and friends loaded with shit. You can make it alright with either one, and if you've got both, then you can pretty much taunt the fire and bang the wife of the first EMT to show up and still live pretty comfortably.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    But yeah... in the event of home invasion... I have 4 threat-catagories.
    1. Robbery (unarmed)
    2. Mugger (armed with intent to harm)
    3. Lynch mob (more than 3 armed assailants, as much as 40)
    4. For some reason you've got paramilitaries parked on your front-lawn...
    But seriously, how many people prep for an armed 40-man pile-drive into your bedroom window?
    -Note: a mag only holds Five to Ten rounds.
    The worst is probably Threat 3B, since lynch mobs don't take prisioners.
    -Edit: BTW, when the number of assailants is greater than half your ammo-count, try and remember to top-off your magazines, at every oprotunity... especially shotguns. Never know when you'll need to mag-dump to clear an entire room alive.
