The Steven Yeun and Norman Reedus Bromance <3
WARNING: I will not be on as much as I use to be. I've made some big lifestyle changes and am busy with those.
I'm still interested but I have my doubts in adding statistics. My past experiences with forum based role-plays adding a mathematical system to determine the outcome of actions are rather negative. They all ended up like "my statistic is higher than yours so I win" due to the lack of a random factor like a dice roll. This made things very prone to powerplay because of unbalances in the rules. Generally adding statistics only managed to complicate things, slow down the RP and distract from what forum based RP's are about.
Some points about the settings:
- Canon wise you can only be an Airbender by being related in blood to avatar Aang. Either his child or grandchild. How strict are we going to be on this point?
- Some one argued that the Dai Li should not be around anymore. It's a plausible argument but just as plausible as having them still in existence. The RP is 70 after the events of Avatar: The last airbender. During that time, all those involved in the betrayal are probably already dead. It is a distinct possibility that after the war, the Earth Kingdom have reformed the Dai Li and cleansed it from betrayers. None the less I think the Dai Li should have a bad reputation with the Earth Kingdom population due to their betrayal.
- What is our starting position going to be? Learning the bending arts was a very important part of the plot of both The last Air Bender and The legend of Korra. Are we going to start as young rookies who are improving their skills during their adventure much like Aang, Katara and Zuko or are we able to start as experienced near master level benders?
- Technological advances played a major part in The legend of Korra. I think the average level of technology should be substantial lower in Ba Sing Se. Republic City is the political capital of the world. Build around the latest technologies in the past 70 years and has the highest standards in wealth and education. It's truly the place to be during that time. We also should keep in mind that many of the shown technologies like airplanes and electrical hand gloves where specially designed for the Equalists. Are you planning to incorporate such technologies in the plotline?
First of all, the OOC is up: Ba-Sing-Se goes bananas
Yes the title sucks, but I intend to change it before the RP starts, I just didn't have a better idea at this time.
@Milkman
-You make a very valid point, abilities have been deleted
-I would like the path to being an airbender open to anyone who wants, I'm just not sure how to fit it into the factual world of Avatar, ideas are welcome.
-We can put up a vote if we use the Dai Li or another instance
-I want us to be learning benders. We will all have some basic skills, but I intend to make our characters grow, more bonus abilities and moves will be added as the characters grow
-As for technology, I would suggest anything that is widely used in Republic City is available to the upper ring in Ba Sing Se and to a smaller extent in the inner ring. The lower ring would not really have any technology to speak of.
