I have to say. Batcow is my favorite entry so far. It just shows how much creativity can change things without ruining them. All you need is a SpiderHam team-up.

    The Singular Universe
    Character Application

Character you wish to portray: Logan Howlett - Wolverine

Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero

Powers and physical attributes: Unbreakable Adamantium laced skeleton. Adamantium retractable claws. A healing factor. Enhanced animal senses. Deep knowledge of multiple combat techniques and proficient with a variety of weapons.

Origin and backstory (as you see it): In 1970 a man awoke, face-down in the frozen tundra of Northern Canada with nothing but the clothes on his back. Feral and amnesiac, he was taken in by a couple that had made the great white wilderness their home. He took his name from a set of dog tags around his neck but other than that, the man had no idea who or what he was. Over the next 40 years he travelled the length and breadth of the globe searching for clues to his past. Who was he? What was he? For a long time the man known only as 'Logan' has tried to piece together a picture of his life and how he came to be. Without a home or family and nothing but a fractured memory, he is a man apart.

Why have you chosen this character?: Wolverine is my all-time favourite character. From watching X-Men: TAS as a boy, the furball has always held a very fond place in my heart.

What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Ummm... another character?

Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, three paragraphs or more and with at least one line of dialogue:

    Alkali Lake.
    Canada.
    1972.

Two men sat alone in the small room. A large mirrored wall on the left of the room, provided a viewing space for a group of scientists to make their notes on the goings on. Within the grey box-room sat a man wearing a black uniform. Across the small table sat a dark haired man in a white vest and black jeans. He had the butt of a cigar in his mouth and casually blew smoke through gritted teeth after each puff.

The officer spoke up first, rummaging idly at a thick file on the table in front of him. “Mr Howlett, as you are aware, this organization has selected you for our programme for a very specific reason...”

    “Because I’m a freak”, he grunted matter-of-factly.

The officer pursed his lips, cautious as to his manner around the other man.“We prefer the term ‘mutant’. But yes, you were selected for your mutant healing ability as well as your training and talent as a soldier. Our programme desires the best of the best and in your field, you are one of the best”.

    “I’m THE best”.

“Indeed. Should you wish to sign up to our programme, you will be given training and preparation, as well as a position in our most elite black ops force. You will also be paid a significant sum for your time and co-operation”.

Logan scratched his face idly, considering the proposal. “What exactly is this ‘programme’ and what are you and your buddies standing behind that mirror over there planning to do to me?”

The officer flicked his gaze toward the mirror and back towards Logan. “I... uh… We plan to have you undergo a series of physically enhancing tests. Your body will be tested to the limit as we attempt to ‘enhance’ your already considerable talents”.

“Keep talkin'…” Logan leaned back in his seat and stretched his legs out, crossing them and folding his arms on his chest.“Look. You can be straight with me and we’ll be on the level, or you can keep tryin' to lead me down the long path and I can rip your arms off. Choice is yours, bub”.

The officer swallowed hard, his gaze flicking toward the mirror repeatedly. “Well, you will be partaking in a variety of experiments by the very best medical minds available. We will enhance your powers, give you better tools for job and make you damn near indestructible”.

Logan’s expression remained flat as he became lost in thought. After a few moments of silence and a whole load of erratic glances by the young officer, he smiled. He removed his cigar from between his teeth and died it out on the desk. Leaning forward, he caused the young man to tense “And if I say no?”

“Well Logan, you will be free to go about your life as you see fit. However, there is one more outstanding matter that we must address…”

"Heh" he snorted, “And what might that be?”

“Your father. He died around the same time you disappeared. We’ve been investigating his death for a long time. The killer was never found. But we know pretty much everything. The file is right here. Should you choose not to accept our offer, then I’m afraid this file might become a problem for all of us. However, should you undertake our programme, I’m sure you’ll find that paperwork… well, it can have a habit of disappearing”.

Logan scowled and let out a low throaty growl. “I knew you bastards had somethin’ up your sleeve the second you picked me up in that hell hole. Well bub, looks like I don’t have much of a choice then do I?”

The officer stood and smiled, moving to the door with the file under his arm. “We all have choices Mr Howlett. It’s what we do with them that counts. Welcome to the Weapon X program Logan".

    Character you wish to portray:
    Moon Knight.

Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Between Hero and Walking the Line. I’ll say closer to hero.

    Powers and physical attributes:
Possesses great strength, although probably not to superhuman levels, but has greater confidence in accordance with the fullness of the moon. A remarkable and brutal fighter, with techniques acquired from over a decade spent between boxing, some time as a C.I.A Field operative, in the United States Marine Corps and in numerous smaller private militias, before finally winding up on the Suicide Squad. His time in these roles have also made him prolific in multiple languages and a more than competent strategist. Combined with a sizeable wealth that he siphoned away from his mercenary past under the pseudonym Steven Grant, he is a fighting machine and tool for Vengeance.

    Has an extremely unstable psyche.

Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Marc Spector was a fighter from a very young age, it was all he ever wanted to be and all he ever cared about. So it came as little surprise when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after fighting in underground boxing matches. After getting caught looting he is given an Other Than Honourable Discharge from the Marine Corps as they cut him loose to save face. He manages to escape prior to his civil trial and finds himself far from home with no means of return. He becomes a mercenary as he attempts to put together enough money to return home and earns quite a reputation. He also finds time to run Black Ops missions for the C.I.A. keeping him in largely good stead with Uncle Sam in between private operations.

He fits the lifestyle so well in fact that he begins to forget that he was only doing the work for the purpose of getting home and starts to relish in it. Bouncing around the world until he wound up working under one Raoul Bushman.
His time with Bushman appealed to some of his more base desires, looting was considered acceptable, but it wasn’t until his morals were pushed beyond his comfort zone and he was expected to kill innocent civilian archaeologists Doctor Peter Alraune and his daughter Marlene that he revolts and confronts Bushman.

Which did not turn out so well...

Beaten nearly to death, and left alone for the desert to finish the job, Marc Spector crawls across the desert sands before falling through the ruins of an excavated temple. Where he lands, unconscious, at the feet of a moonlit statue.

Here a mysterious presence calling itself Khonshu appears to him in a vision, offering him a second chance at life if he would agree to become his avatar on earth. Its appearance takes on that of the statue which he is lying before, much the worse for wear. Marlene Alraune, who survived while her father didn’t, is tending his wounds and has noticed that for several seconds he is (for all intents and purposes) dead. She sends for workers to fetch water and further medical supplies when suddenly the man awakens.

Spector was extremely agitated and excited. He asked what the statue standing above him was, and when told by Marlene that it was the form of Khonshu; the Egyptian god of vengeance and the moon, he immediately became a believer. Wrapping himself in the silver coloured shroud that covered the statue, he declared himself to be the Moon’s Knight.

He then did... very little. Whilst he understood that he was to do something. Be an avatar to this god of Vengeance. He wasn’t entirely sure what that should entail or how the best way would be to go about it. It was at this point that he was found by Captain Rick Flag, who Spector recognised as a fellow veteran. What Spector was unaware of was his current ties to the government leading a rag-tag team of criminals and miscreants called the Suicide Squad and that Spector had been tagged for duty due to his spotty past, and was promptly taken.

Spector didn’t much care for the deceptive action that took place, but didn’t particularly mind his time in the Squad. He’d been looking for a way of wreaking vengeance and making sure that the right people received it and Flag and the squad saw to it that he was generally aimed in their direction. It wasn’t until he was involved in a particularly sloppy mission that saw significant civilian deaths and casualties that he started to think that maybe there was a better way. Combined with anecdotes of a fellow Squad-member, the assassin Deadshot, who was caught by someone calling himself Batman in Gotham city.

Why have you chosen this character?:
I am a huge Moon Knight fan. Perhaps unhealthily so. I’ve been suckered into playing the character again from a single name drop by Master Bruce in post 19 of this thread. The two words “Marc Spector” meant that this application was inevitable.

What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
A pretty honest portrayal of the character with just enough twists and turns to keep it fresh, relevant and interesting in a game with a large number of street level characters already.

Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, three paragraphs or more and with at least one line of dialogue:

A terrified man takes a wrong turn down a dark alley. The poor judgement in choosing to loot a drug store and poorer judgement with how far he took "defending himself", when the shop owner and his teenage son appeared too soon to investigate what the noise was in the shop below their apartment, are about to come under scrutiny. A silver spectre (Spector?) pursues his prey down a familiar dark backalley off of 3rd Ave under the authority of tonight's waxing crescent moon.

A silver baton flies, knocking the man from his feet. The shining beacon of the night is over the man before he can gather himself, a crescent dart in each fist. He glides beyond and then releases his cape, dropping a good 8 feet with a stomp. The ghostly figure rises and stands before the man.

He pulls steel, tears of fear running down his cheeks, but he never gets a shot off. A crescent dart slices into his hand and he drops the handgun with a howl.
“Who are you?!” the man cried out, trying to sound tough through a severely cracking voice. “I—I know people! Bad people! If you touch me, I’ll have my re—revenge.”

The silver and ebony feature stormed up and picked the man up by the scruff of the neck.

“Vengeance...” He said, before unloading a heavy right hook, immediately knocking the man out cold.

    “Is already here.”
