The Witching Hour [Ohaidere & Jealous Angel D]

Hannah Stevenson seemed to be just like any other girl. She was a Senior in high school and was often surrounded by close friends. However, perhaps she only seemed to be normal as others around her either turned a blind eye to the strange happenings around her or they themselves were also surrounded by strange happenings.

Her curly brown hair was pulled back and held by a rubberband as she walked down the street. She had been sent to find some simple items from the store for her mother. She wasn't quite pleased with running errands as she had been planning to spend time with her friends. But denying her mother's request was never a good idea. So here she was left to run errands while her friends went on adventures without her.

Glenn Travis had always been a bright kid, even now as a senior in high school. His family had always been poor so he learned that one needed to work hard to get things done.

Glenn brushed a hand through his short, brown hair as he walked home from his part time job. As he strolled along, a girl on the other side of the street caught his eye. She seemed vaguely familiar and Glenn figured that they both went to the same school. Nevertheless, she was beautiful; and so Glenn, ever the charmer, crossed the street to say something to her. As he approached her, he asked, "Hey, have I seen you around at school before? You look familiar." He gave her the best smile he could make. Glenn wasn't normally so forward, but something about the girl caught his eye. She interested him.

Hannah slowed her walking pace and turned so that she was facing the voice that she assumed was talking to me. When he met her gaze, she knew that he was not talking to someone farther down the street and he was not talking on the phone. The boy did not instantly jog her memory. Sure he seemed familiar, someone she had probably often seen in passing. But now knowing his name told her much about this boy.

“That’s a high probability. Are you taking history this year?” she guessed as she smiled. “Name’s Hannah Stevenson.” There was a possibility that he already knew her name. However, she was so horrible with names sometimes – definitely when it concerned people that were not part of her circle of friends.

"Yea, I am!" The classes were quite big at his school, so it would make sense to not notice everyone. Glenn grinned, "I'm Glenn Travis." Unsure of what to say next, he stood for a few moments trying to think of the logical next step. He went with the most polite thing he could think of: "So, do you want to maybe go get a coffee or something?" He had never asked a girl out before, so he was hoping his inexperience wasn't obvious. He looked at Hanna hopefully.

Well as many classes were required it was still a low chance that they had the same history class. However, it had at least been a good conversation starter and she could pretend that he was somewhat familiar and that they would indeed see each other again - whether in class or the halls of the school. At his offer for coffee she hesitated to answer. She was running errands - even though she would rather not. And then there was the fact that some of her friends would see her with this boy and make assumptions. But worst of all something strange could happen - like it always seemed to do when she tried to be normal. However, what fun was life if you didn't take chances. "I'd love to," she smiled. "i have some time to spare. Do you know a particularly good coffee shop around here?"

Glenn paused for a second, he hadn't expected Hannah to actually say yes. He celebrated inside his head until he realized he still had to actually take her to get the coffee. There were several coffee shops in town and, because he always had to stay up late working or studying, he knew where most of them were. Picking one of his favorites, Glenn smiled, "Yea, of course- follow me!" He seized her hand and began to lead her down a few shops. He thought, maybe, grabbing her might be overstepping a boundary or two, but he was over-excited, and it was too late to let go now.

The walk was less than a minute. Glenn lead her around a corner and to a small café nestled between a department store and a laundromat. The place was small, but still had a large selection of baked goods, teas, and of course coffee and espresso. Glenn hoped she would be able to find something, because it didn't have as many 'specialty' type drinks that were popular, and he didn't know what she liked. He wasn't normally so bold, and he feared getting flustered as he talked with Hannah. Nevertheless, he looked over to her as he lead her into the shop, "Okay, we're here! What do you want?"
