Well thank you, just trying to stay on par with all the quality being fronted by everyone else.
It seems I'm responsible for the confusion going around and I apologize, but in all honesty the predicament isn't as complicated as some of you may find it to be.
From the moment Hahne's aircraft docked at Omega, to the moment it departs--with her very much alive and it very much unknown by anyone else--a matter of
maybe four hours has transpired. For all intents and purposes, let us all just assume that the mentioned broadcast was specific to Omega's airwaves; any instance in which someone attempted to replicate or redistribute it simply would result in it being scrambled. Beyond that, by the time someone on Omega had found the time, security, and logic in contacting the Citadel to report the rumor, they'd also be reporting the discovery that the rumors were indeed false; of course this wont become common knowledge to Omega's denizens until well after the series of battles have come to an end. What this basically means is that the gang-war that ensues has virtually nothing to do with Catherine Hahne so much as it simply being an event that gets everyone on Omega involved. This is an opportunity for you to write your characters and their organizations as being a few of the level-headed minds capable of profiting from this chaos. In general, much of the NPC, nameless gangs situated in Omega will "invest" too much of themselves in the war resulting in a political instability that not even Omega can right; some of them will simply disband, others will converge with more powerful gangs, and a few will come out in a position to make use of this crisis. Of course be reasonable, but beyond that be creative.
As far as how Hahne manages to stay on schedule to her visit to Illium; I figure we can all agree that Councillor Hahne is a woman with many resources and has the respect of enough people--or just the right ones--to effectively utilize those resources. Which resources? How about the trust and assistance of some of Naval Alliance's highest officers. It's extremely likely that she would've foreseen the possibility of her presence becoming known and as such taken measures to protect her reputation from being threatened by such an incident. How? She utilized her connections in the Naval Alliance to appropriate a cruiser for her travel to Illium, a cruiser which had a very public itinerary of her flight there. With that established she managed to escape Citadel space with a vessel that Commander Vega had allocated a day (or whatever) before the cruiser was meant to depart. After the incident on Omega and her departure, she manages to intercept the cruiser as planned, and continues to Illium as if nothing ever happened. No one's the wiser, and everything is able to proceed as it should.
Once again, sorry to throw anyone off.
