Zachariah Khan was among a small group of humans genetically engineered to be the perfect human in the late twenty-first century Earth as part of a project of headed secretly funded by a Cerberus front company. However few subjects succeeded to their expectation, and Khan was just one of the many rejects of the failed experiments. Khan was, like many others failures of these test, were dumped and later sold as child slaves to Batarian pirates. Zachariah was among the lucky ones however, if one could count a slave of Batarian lucky at all, that instead of being sent to the mines was made instead to join into a core of slave soldiers for the Batarain army during the Anhur Civil war, fighting for the Na'hesit. Zach was subsequently raised as a child soldier and went through training on par with that of the Hegemony's Special Intervention Unit. He was among the few to survive the harsh conditions, which slowly toughened the boy into a heartless killer.
He and other human children were shown violent films daily for "image training," and were given food mixed with a unique substance like gunpowder containing toluene to make them more controllable. On one occasion, Khan was injected with an unknown substance during a physician's experiment. On another, Khan witnessed a Batarian demonstrate to him that blades were a "noble weapon" compared to guns, by slitting another soldier's throat in front of him. Under the Batarian death camp, Zachariah became a killing machine, known alternately as the "White Devil" and "Zach the Ripper" due to his incredibly high kill rate compared to other boys his age, as well as a reference to his being one of the few humans with natural white hair, a side effect of the genetic engineering. Armed with a gun at the age of six (he would later remember it as an Terminator assault rifle), as well as a knife, he proved to be a superior soldier, rising to become captain of the Small Boy Unit at ten. His skills with a bladed weapon, as well as his cruelty in dispatching enemies with them, was another reason for his "Ripper" nickname.
After the war ended, and Zachariah Khan and a number of other child soldiers seemingly vanished during the confusion that persisted after the Na'hesit lost. Several months later Zachariah would end up where many lost souls found themselves sooner or later. On the massive Space Station Omega, where he ran with numerous gangs and establish a number of underworld connections. Having no other skills aside from that learned by the Na'hesit. Zachariah quickly become a hired gun and Bounty Hunter of decent skill and ability, known for his merciless behavior and shrewd cunning. He employing the skills he learned or otherwise known as 'batarian tactics'. Making heavy use of blades, the kishock harpoon gun and nets. He was not so much skilled an talented as he was efficient and brutal. It was during this time Zach fought a rival bounty hunter named Wat Zambor, a old Korgan battlemaster and veteran of the Krogan rebellions. The two came to ahead when they were both contracted to kill the same target, a Volus merchant. Since neither wanted to lose their target while fighting each other, Zach proposed they work together and they both agreed to work together. The two soon found them made an effective and deadly combination, as Zachariah slowly began to earn the old Krogan's trust who in turn respected. While both had planned to backstab the other, as their alliance was only momentary, Zachariah instead cunningly agreed to let Wat to gain the full bounty, while Zach secretly kept the Volus's own stash of creds he had learned of.
Zach's exploits soon caught the attention of the renowned arms dealer and smuggler Donovan Hock. Mister Hock had been seeking a hitman, or as it was often known in the criminal world, a "fixer", an individual that could send a message to those who owed Donovan Hock. A cleaner able to do away with troublesome investigators.
Over the many years prior to Donovan Hock's death by Commander Shepard, Zachariah Khan accomplished a number of 'task' involving anything from simple blackmail, to breaking kneecaps, to out right murder. However Zachariah Khan also saw how well men like Donovan Hock lived. So easily basking in their comforts earned by the hard work of others. To a man who know nothing but hardship all his life Zachariah yearned from more then he had. It was not long before Khan began to plot a take over of Donovan Hock's operations, as he slowly watched and learned of the man what he could while also acquiring the aid of many in Donovan Hock's own circle who also sought the same as Zachariah. However a week before he executed his coup, Donovan Hock was killed in his gunship by the combined actions of both Kasumi Goto and Commander Shepard resulting in a large power vacuum which Zachariah Khan quickly exploited. Due to his fierce reputation and his quickness to "remove" those he knew were already planning to do away with the now deceased Donovan Hock, few within Hock's own organization rose to appose him.
However obtaining Donovan Hock's smuggling operation was not enough. Zachariah Khan quickly made use of his favors he had gained over the years and contacted Wat Zambot, now a powerful warlord within the Blood Pack. The two came to a deal, and Zachariah Khan, knowing there was a larger untapped market within the Terminus systems, moved the base of his operations into the lawless region. At first establishing a base within the Fathar System. Zachariah's operations would not truly blossom until the Reapers had come proper into their invasion. While whole swaths of worlds were attacked, Zachariah laid low until the war had come to an end. When it had much of his own cartel had taken a heavy hit, Bekenstein had been almost entirely wiped out. Thus forcing Zachariah to start over. However, being a man of ambition, Zachariah quickly saw the opportunity he had. When the mass Relay's had become partly operational again, Zachariah made his way to Omega. He learned that Wat had survived and that the blood pack like many other groups was in tatters. Working with Wat, he convinced the old battlemaster that a vorcha such as Gryll was far to weak to lead the Blood pack. Wat in turn convinced countless other Krogan within the organization against Gryll, many who already disagreed with their current leadership. Suffice to say, a short coup saw Gryll violently slaughtered and many of his supporters. Having placed Wat on top again in the bloodpack, he had thereby acquired of the old Krogan yet another favor for his long term goals.
Zachariah turned his attentions to rebuilding Hock's old organization with the credits he had stashed away taken from Hock's own vault. He eventually pooled his money together and saw the profit in dealing illegal drugs and weapons on Omega, to the various gangs which still fought for control of ht station . It didn't take long before the man was the head of a lucrative black market business operating on Omega.
None of his employees ever really found out who he really was. No one did. All anyone knew was that he was dangerous, intelligent and very powerful. This provided Zachariah with a large, comfortable gap between him and the public. His identity was only known by two individuals, one of them Wat, the other who worked as his messenger. Both of them were closely watched. With his now seemingly limitless resources, Zachariah's business spanned out through the Terminus systems and eventually the Citadel which was now the center point of much trade. On the Citadel he is known as Xaiver Darelliun, a humble co-owner of a successful shipping company. The Blacklight Syndicate now has powerful influence within the Blood Pack, and Omega. However Ambitious as Zachariah Khan is, it's unlikely his thirst for power will stop there.
The Blacklight Syndicate
Details: The Blacklight Syndicate use its extensive crime network to influence the many factions and organization's of the in Terminus and Citadel space, siphon their credits, and sabotage their operations when necessary. Dealing in multiple illegal operations, such as establishing widespread racketeering jobs on many worlds; bribery, piracy, slavery, eezo & red sand smuggling sand along with corrupting local militia on planets, and even going so far as intimidating or kidnapping individuals who have defied the Syndicate. One particular means of income is offering military protection to planets through their influence in the Blood Pack. They also extort money from miners. The Syndicate also construct front companies on various worlds which serve as its financial centers. With access to and significant control over the black market; Zach has several unique technologies at his disposal.
