Jian stands at a lean six foot even, with enough muscle to defend himself, yet not quite so much that he could stop a blade with his manly pecs. His build is more for flexibility rather than endurance, the first appearance he gives off being more "lanky" than "able to do anything". His hair is a natural deep black, but has been dyed repeatedly to give off a vibrant light blue hue that match his sharp eyes. Due to an incident involving a loony mother and an idiot with scissors, a scar runs over his right eye, rendering him half blind. He wears an eye patch both because he doesn't want to unnerve others with his blind eye, and because he believes eye patches are fucking cool. After the eye patch, he entered a momentary phase in which he desired the appearance of a pirate, thus explaining the multiple piercings on his ears- despite the portrait, he does not have a lip or eyebrow piercing. Though his hair and piercings may come off as a bit outlandish, his attire usually consists of plain, dark, unisex garb, his lean physique allowing him to give off a feminine vibe from afar if he slouched or walked in a certain manner.

Personality: A Gemini, Jian's attitude is hard to grasp. One second he may be sweet and drawing bees to the honey, the next he'll be throwing sarcastic remarks- the kind of remarks that gets you bright red smacks on the face. Or a kick in the crotch. Of course, Jian manages to get away with such antics somehow by flashing his sweet little smile to daze the victim before making a quick escape. His mood swings may come to others as a bit insane, but he is very normal. In fact, he fumbles with his words often, but not because he's not right in the head. No, he's too right in the head. He's got so many brilliant things going on inside his head that sometimes, his mouth can't keep up. Of course, sometimes, he doesn't think at all and just does things. When it comes to combat, he tends to break apart into two beings- body and mind. His body moves fluidly in familiar, practiced moves. Meanwhile, his mind is clattering, thinking of cool one-liners to throw at each solid hit he throws.

Skills and Equipment: A genius in the art of waterbending, Jian has mastered the art of bitchslapping enemies with a whip(or wave, really anything) of water. After having lost his eye, he is remastering his techniques- and not doing too well. His number of weapons has grown due to his paranoia regarding his blind spot. At first, it merely consisted of two short sickles tied together with a chain, connecting to make a double sided sickle. Of course, they only connect by ice, which is handy considering he's a water bender. He's rusty on the weapon- dubbed "Yue"- due to his hindered sight. It doesn't matter though, because they look hella cool when strapped to the side of his pants (one sickle per side). He also tends to hide daggers on his person, in case his trusty pall Yue fails him.

Strengths: *Flexible and Agile- He's not the bloody human pretzel, but he can backflip his way to the sunset.
*Waterbending- a genius of the art.
*Writing- When he's made a discovery or has come up with a theory opposing thoughts by other, wiser, men, he usually writes it down, spreading word to get others to think as he does.
*Story telling- He's learned many a story from all sorts of mouths. Young, old, poor, not so poor.

*Laughing- At you, with you, it doesn't matter. Jian's usually got a happy grin on his lips.
Weaknesses: *Half blind- It usually messes with his aim. "Don't make me throw this dagger at you," he'd say, "You know how poor my aim is- I could aim for your head and hit your crotch."
*Attitude- While at some times he's great to be around, other times, you just really wanna kill him and find another master of the Waterbending art.
*Fear- He thinks he has no fears, which would make him just twice as hysterical when he comes across his greatest nightmare.
Brief History: Jian and his family were neither rich nor poor. They were in between. In fact, they're lives were pretty great the first few years Jian was alive. See, even as a young child, though his bending abilities had yet to make their presence, everyone could still see how brilliant a child Jian was. He was not only curious, but he also worked to learn answers to questions he didn't know. Science, mathematics, if one looked into the eyes of Jian, they would find endless answers and questions within them. He spent four years of his life in the North Pole, going out to the Earth Kingdom later on, his parents suggesting he study with the best of the best. It was only then did Jian realize that, while he loved the Earth Kingdom's libraries and holing up under a desk to view multiple scrolls, while he absolutely loved learning, he absolutely hated classrooms and having to study. He wasn't quite sure why- perhaps it was because the teachers always found it necessary to prattle on about things he knew, and then the next day prattle on about it again because "the other kids didnt remember as well as he did". It was all pretty silly, really.
By the age of six, Jian was bending water. Now, his brother was pretty ecstatic about this, but his mother tutted his bending, telling him that there was no point in practicing and he should continue with his studies. His father, back home, had no say in the matter- even if they did send him a letter, it'd have taken forever to get there and back. Now, Jian knew his mother was right. He was in the bloody Earth Kingdom! Where was he going to find a waterbending teacher? Moreso, one that he could understand, one that he could respect, one that was nothing like the teachers that taught him at school.
Of course.
The scrolls.
Jian was soon spending more and more time in the libraries and less time at school. Mind you, if he'd been a bit more polite and kind and less sarcastic with the masters, he'd have gotten away with it, too. He was called into the office, reprimanded for his actions and attitude in front of his mother and brother, acting as a surrogate father. When they got home, her mother was obviously very shaken. She was, after all, a woman of pride. She was embarassed, ashamed, that the son she had bragged about, the son she had left home for, was causing trouble. She locked him in the house, banning him from ever visiting the library again. When Jian retorted with sarcasm, she smacked him, banning him from bending. He would not embarrass his mother further- simply not allowed.
His brother walked with him from home to school and back, to make sure he did not stray. Of course, his mother failed to take into account the fact that Jian and his brother had a bond stronger than they had with their mother. On the excuse of "staying out a bit later to eat", the two took to sneaking around to study more scrolls or practice. If Jian had been trained under a master, he would've completed his training at a much quicker pace. He was, after all, a genius. Instead, it took him five years to become a great bender, and even then, it was not perfect. Yes, Jian believed his moves were perfect, but without another waterbender to tell him right from wrong, his moves were instinctive, yet at the same time, calculative. His waterbending was as though someone painted a beautiful picture....entirely in straight lines and right angles. But he and his brother believed he had reached perfection, and that was all he really needed.
He'd ended up forgetting the ban placed upon his bending one night, when he was eighteen, washing dishes. He played with the water, twirling orbs of water through his fingers, instantly dropping his hands to his side when he heard his mother's light footsteps come near. It was too late. He'd been caught. She shouted at him, suddenly spouting doubt about his attendance at school, about him practicing behind her back. His mother was so angry, she grabbed the nearest heavy object and tossed it his way. Meanwhile, in another room, his brother had heard the commotion. He had met the woman of his dreams and was stemming roses in another room. He rose and and headed to the noise, wielding his knife in a very dangerous manner as he shouted, "What's going on?"
Jian dodged the flying bowl, it crashing behind him. But as he did so, he walked straight into the knife. The pain was excruciating. He'd never felt anything else like it before and he collapsed unde the pain. His brother took him away.
For a while, he lived in a small apartment, alone. When he hit twenty, he was already trying to remaster everything he'd learned. It was difficult, half blind. It was difficult dodging things you couldn't see. He soon left, to find others to train with him (or perhaps the thought that he was so close to his mother sickened him), venturing the world by sea. He could still man a boat on his own pretty well, half blind or otherwise. It was also because of this that he became a bit crazed with being a pirate- that is, until he met real pirates and found them disgustingly weak and low.
