    What sounds betters?

    XCOM: Enemy Unknown
I haven't seen any roleplays revolving around this idea. Maybe it's because an idea like this might be stuck in the Free RP forum, or maybe nobody knows what to do with it. Here's what the basic jest of it is; you are a member of a global organization known as the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit, formed to fight alien threats to humanity.

Out of the dozens of squads operating from it's Headquarters in either North or South America, Europe, Asia or Africa, you and many others make up it's first squad. You will be the first to engage the alien threat, the first to receive new weapons and the first to be deployed. You've been selected because of your knowledge, skill or experience. From an aging US Army Commando to a expert Chinese sniper, your background is almost limitless.

The better part of your day will be spent flying overseas to the area of operations. When the squad's not on mission, it's at the Ant Farm, where a number of facilities are at the squad's disposal.

With every mission, our objectives and enemies vary. You'll be rescuing military big wigs, shooting down spaceships, investigating disturbing reports and securing critical areas besieged by the alien menace.
    The Misfits [Star Wars]
The Republic Clone Commandos are some of the best of the best. They are well armed, highly trained and loyal to the Republic. The majority of the RP's characters will be stepping in the shoes of one such Commando whose been transferred to a Republic Special Forces unit known as the Misfits. The Misfits consist of not only Clones, but volunteers with specialized skill sets such as translation, flying and counter-intelligence.

While yes, the bulk of the characters are intended to be Commandos, I am allowing non-Clone characters for this concept.

The Misfits' tale will be starting off at the Battle of Geonosis and ending with Order 66, where we'll determine where to go from there, if the RP is up at all.
    Black Skies [Ace Combat]
Initially a One x One RP, I'm now expanding it to a group RP. The setting is Strangereal, the world that Ace Combat is set on, which incorporates real life elements and technology while remaining a unique place to be creative with.

You are a member of the Emmerian Air Force assigned to the 15th Fighter Squadron. The Emmerian military has been dedicated to supporting it's neighbor, the Kingdom of Nordennavic, in a civil war. The rebels are rumored to be backed by a number of private organizations and are thought to be only puppets for a much larger grand scheme by Emmerian Intelligence. Thus the unofficial reason Emmeria decides to intervene; to prevent the Kingdom from becoming a puppet nation. Officially though, you've been deployed to keep the peace and to stop the senseless slaughter of civilians by the rebels.

Characters will be pitted against mercenaries, traitors, rebels and actual nations as the story progresses. Combat will take place both on and off the ground. Character development, mission briefings and so forth will be taking place at whatever airbase the squadron is stationed at.
    Dark Days [Halo]
The Human-Covenant war maybe over, but the Insurrection is not. Civil war threatens humanity and there is widespread civil unrest, resulting in multiple insurgencies. Having turned a blind eye to these terrorists because of the war, with the battle for man's continued existence over, the United Nations Space Command has been able to regroup and evolve. A group of special forces operators from the Army to the Navy are recruited into the SPARTAN IV branch, a branch made up of genetically modified super-soldiers often sent to do the impossible. You are one such operator.

With the SPARTAN IVs, the military hopes to quell the Insurrection and prevent future wars with it's former enemy. However, as the story progresses, a new enemy will emerge. One far more dangerous than the others.
    Space Marines
This idea I haven't really thought about too hard. It'll basically be characters evolving from being simple Initiates in a Space Marine chapter to something of much higher power.
    The Misfits [ALT]
Taking place after the Clone Wars, this idea hasn't been too expanded either. Characters will be stepping into the shoes of a rebel unit known as the Misfits, who are dispatched to the more stubborn and difficult Imperial territories. Fighter combat and infiltration will play a big role in this alternate version of the Misfits.

    I second what he said.
Also, I see what you did in XCOM.
