I suppose this question can hinge on what we're actually planning on doing soon.
Did you have some sort of event in mind that would cause them to travel together farther than they had originally agreed upon? It's entirely possible that we could have them split up, as they were planning. Then, we could skip ahead a pre-determined amount of time to when they might run into each other again. That's when something could happen to force them together for a little longer... or they could simply choose to travel in each other's company again.
Thoughts?
Also, I had ideas on details pertaining to Teams Strata and Strato (if that's what they're still going to be called). I'll only elaborate if you don't already have everything thought up for them. I'm not for shitting on other people's already thought-up ideas.

I actually had intended for an event to cause them to at least think about it, and whilst I would prefer they do stick together, it's both of our choice. So, I naturally want to hear your thoughts on the matter.

On second thought, I could handle Strato major events, and you could handle Strata major events. If that's okay with you, I am kinda giving you the lesser team, : P

I'm all for them sticking together throughout. Some sort of event occurring should definitely spice things up; that's for sure. Let's go with that.
As for the teams, my thoughts centered around their personalities and make-up. Consider this: Team Strato, a name that signifies sky, might focus on Pokémon with Flying, Dragon, and Psychic types. This is further emphasized by their interest in the 'Lati' pairing. This team might be more along the lines of sophistication and aristocracy. While not necessarily similar to Plasma, Strato could be led/funded by someone incredibly wealthy. They're interests are on a grander scale, and their well-known name commands a certain amount of respect. Crimes they commit are commonly 'white-collar': bribery, extortion, embezzlement, etc.
Strata, on the other hand, is an 'up-and-coming' cartel. They wish to harness the power of the 'Regi' quartet, and they focus on Rock, Steel, and Ice types. True to their name, they are more of an underground organization. Their ways are secretive, and few know of them so far. They're always looking for more money and leverage in society, relying on fear and intimidation to get their way. Crimes they commit are commonly 'blue-collar': kidnapping, mugging, theft, etc.
These opposing methods and goals, much like Magma and Aqua's, set the stage for a glorious conflict. This embroilment will most definitely ensnare our hapless travelers one way or another.
