Brief description of the plot

Automatons have existed on Earth since the year 2112. Admittedly, automatons are almost human. Well, if you forget that they are a sentient robotic race that I invented. Yes, I did, me. Dr. Harold Drenier. And today, I got a letter, asking for my permission to give each newborn child a companion automaton. And only for this year, which makes this generation special. Or lucky, if you ask me. All I hope is for those who are given it to be responsible with their new companion. It will grow with them, learn with them, play with them, work with them, do everything with them. They are the next generation. Let's hope they save us.

That was 23 years ago. The world is now in total chaos. Each person of that generation has been hunted down or killed. Only 10 of them survive. Why? Their automatons are special. They developed to have some sort of power. I guess it depends on the human counterpart. One question remains: where are they?

Synopsis
Basically, we're the children (now adults) trying to survive the constant hatred and killings. And we have special automatons.
