I don't mean the links don't work, because they do. But the listed original image for entry 1, is actually the original image for entry 2. And the listed original image for entry 2 doesn't match either of the entries, so I don't know what the real original image for entry 1 is.

I understand what you are getting at.
They probably used an image pack where the original image can be found if you download it from that deviant art profile, the image you are seeing is just a cover photo for the pack. I hope that clears things up?

I'm definitely going to have to give my vote to #1. Number two... I get that the render itself wasn't of the utmost quality, but I feel like if you don't know how to fix quality issues with a render then you shouldn't bother using it. Beyond that, for number two the focal is supposed to be at the paw(I'm assuming), yet the brightness and drowned out of effect of it, and the fact it's actually more blurry then the force, instantly forces my eyes to the face of the cat. I have to actually focus to stare at the text and the paw. My last problem with #2 is that there isn't very much blending between it and the effects. If you look at the left side, it looks like it was plopped on top of it which always is a major turn off to me. Remember when I said my last problem? I lied, I feel like pointing out the effects don't blend well together. I really do enjoy the coloring of #2, and if whoever made it, after AOTM, would tell me what they did for the effects and coloring via pm it would be greatly appreciated.
Now for a brief critique of #1. Actually, I don't feel like critiquing this. It feels.. boring to me. Granted, it's a very well done photo-manipulation. Nothing really looks of, but it would never draw my attention. Also, after scrolling down and seeing the render and how it was already pre-darkened and pre-blured, it looks even less impressive. All you really had to do for that is add fire and smoke C4D's, or whatever your preference is, and you're done. I feel like there is a lack of... work. While yes, it is more technical and if this were an actual GFX forum I would definitely have more praise. However, because of the nature of this forum and this contest...
I changed my mind, not voting. I can't be impartial here, because I really like #1 and it definitly deserves the win, #2 looks like more work was put into it and I really love the coloring and effects. I just won't vote until the day before voting is closed, and decide then. Well done both of you.
