Military History: Commander Warner was born in a poor farming community close to the bustling coastal city of Otterden. Raised by his father following the death of his mother during his birth, Warner was introduced to the hardships fate could bring from an early age. As an only child, he was helping his father maintain the family farm before he was five. Given the burden of keeping the small family afloat, Warner’s father never allowed him to attend school; the entirety of his life was devoted to work.

Though lacking formal education, Warner was a bright boy, and he soaked up the practical knowledge provided by his work. Problem solving, toughness, and an exceptionally strong work ethic were ingrained in him from an early age, the consequences of which would not be truly seen until tragedy struck the family once more. Warner’s father was killed in a violent agricultural accident, leaving his son alone and without direction at the age of seventeen. With no desire to continue slaving on a farm filled with tragic memories, Warner gathered what little money he could and traveled to Otterden to enlist in the navy.

Barely able to read, and lacking years of worldly knowledge, the young Warner’s future within the Carodie Navy seemed as bleak as the life he had just left. Despite his shortcomings, Warner excelled in military life. He was intuitive, hardworking, tough, and abundantly willing, and it soon became apparent to those around him that after a life’s worth of hardship, Liam Warner was going to make his own fate. He was initially assigned as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the destroyer Emancipation, but he volunteered for deployments even when his home ship was in port, as such Warner was almost continually at sea for close to eight years. During those formative eight years he studied ravenously, trying to catch up for all the years of lost education. At the age of twenty-five he took the Officer’s Candidate Promotional Exam, and though he barely passed the written portion, Warner scored a test record in the Strategy and Tactics Practical, giving him enough cumulative points to pass.

Following his promotion to Lieutenant, Warner was pushed into service in the Submarine Corp. He served with distinction aboard the sub Fathom Arrow, rising in rank until he was granted the position of Commander, and Executive Officer of that vessel. Upon the recommendation of his Commanding Officer, Warner was approached to be the XO aboard the Phorcys, where he hopes he will prove his mettle enough to gain his own command.

Personality: Warner is a calm, quiet, and polite man. His humble upbringing often allows for those to feel that he is an easily approachable officer, and concerns of the enlisted sailors are often brought to him. He holds the need for hard work and discipline in high regard, though he chooses to lead by example, rather than making an example out of someone of lower rank. While his educational history is a detractor in some situations, his quick mind and practical approach make him an invaluable commander in the heat of combat.
