So i'm doing this very same RP with someone in the 1x1 section, but i liked the idea, and thought it could be opened to more people as well. So i decided to try it in the casual section as well.
Bear in mind the Theme is Mature / Dark and will be covering suicide. Scary topic, i know. The goal here is around character development and character interaction; we are trying to create a memoriable experience here. So, here is the outline for the OOC:

A world between life and death, not entirely one nor the other, that is the Spirit World. Here, tormented souls lament on the actions they made when thier heart still beat, and they are given a choice. They can move on, abandon life, and accept the death they made for themselves. Or they can choose to relive the days prior to thier suicide, reface the struggle and grief which caused them to take thier lives, and see if the second time they can perservere. In this world however, a tormented soul is not alone. Each person in the realm of the living has a guardian spirit, a Koi, and it is the Koi's responsibility to guide the lost souls.
When the lost ones are born into the world, they forget the identity they once claimed when they lived, how they died, and why they killed themselves. The soul's guardian spirit is ment to help them remember, and help them find a reason to live. If the Koi succeeds, and a soul finds a reason to live again, they are given a second chance. The Lost Soul is reborn into the world of the living days prior to thier suicide. They will face the same struggles and turmoil which caused them to take thier lives again, this time however, their Koi will be with them, in human form, and will try to guide them past these struggles, and in turn make them a stronger person. If they suceed, the Lost Soul, the suicide victim, gets thier second chance at life.
The Spirit World
A place of dreams, influenced by all, dominated by none. The spirit world is an ever changing plane. Here, a lost soul can request thier Koi to show them what is happening in the realm of the living, and the world itself will alter to emulate the living world. The soul and the Koi can see the living, but hold no influence. Or if a soul desires, they can have thier Koi bring them to a field of flowers, the tallest mountain, or the deepest sea. The spirit world is yours to manipulate, and the desire to stay forever is quiet tempting...
The Rules of the Spirit World
Even in this place of precieved ultimate freedom, rules exist. These are fundemental rules all Koi inheritly know:
Rule 1: A Koi is ment to serve the souls they protect. Koi's can alter the spirit world, but are not allowed to interfere with the souls guarded by other Koi.
Rule 2: Lost souls are allowed to communicate with one another, and Koi are allowed to talk to one another, but under no circumstance can a Koi talk to a lost soul not guarded by them.
Rule 3: When a Koi alters the world, it only affects the soul they are guarding.
Rule 4: If a person chooses to relive the days prior to thier suicide, thier Koi are born into the world as a human the same age as the soul they are guarding, and are ment to steer the lost soul to a better path.
Rule 5: Under no circumstance are the Koi allowed to speak of, or are the lost souls allowed to know of, rule 6, 7, 8, or 9
Rule 6:If a lost soul refuses to live again, they are cast into damnation for a lifetime, and are reborn as Koi.
Rule 7: When a person is born a Koi, they forget thier prior lives.
Rule 8 : If a Koi fails in thier task to save a lost soul, and convince them to live again, the Koi is cast into damnation forever.
Rule 9: If a Koi sucessfully guides a Lost Soul, the Koi has the option be reborn into the world of the living with a fresh start, or remain a Koi to offer thier guidance for other Lost Souls. In the event a Koi chooses this path, rule 8 no longer applies.
Damnation
Damnation is a dark and hopeless place. The souls which fill Damnation are those who saw no value in life, and so there is no light, no laughter, no love, only overpowering despair. There is no pain, other than the eternal pain of the heart. The darkness of Damnation teaches one the value of the light.
Koi
When a person commits suicide, they are born as Lost Souls. When a Lost Soul refuses a second chance at life, they spend a single lifetime in Damnation before being born again as Koi. Therefore, even if Koi do not remember thier prior lives, all Koi know the torments of Damnation, and all Koi are souls who refused thier second chance at life
The Koi are the guardian spirits, and are born to protect and guide the lost souls. Every lost soul has a guardian Koi, and every Koi has a lost soul they must guide. In the spirit realm, a Koi's body can look like anything, as they can shape or disfigure it however they choose. One characteristic which identifies all Koi however, is all Koi wear a 'Noh Mask'. Koi can speak, and they can touch other Koi, as well as the soul they are guarding. They can not touch the souls guarded by other Koi however, they simply phase through. They also can not speak to lost souls guarded by other Koi, even if they attempt to do so, the person will simply not be able to hear them.
A Koi's job is to help a lost soul remember thier past, why they killed themselves, and convince the lost soul of a reason to live again. If they Koi is sucessful, the lost soul and the Koi are born into the world of the living days prior to the lost souls suicide. If they Koi can sucessfully guide the lost soul into not killing themselves again, the lost soul is given a second chance at life, and the Koi is redeemed, and also given another chance at life. If a Koi fails however, they are cast into damnation for an eternity.
Lost Souls
Lost Souls are the souls which inhabit the spirit world, and are not Koi. They take the appearance of thier forms back in the living world, and unlike the Koi, are not able to manipulate the world or change thier appearance (unless they request to do so through thier Koi). When a lost Soul is born into the spirit realm, they forget who they were in thier past life, and they forget why they killed themselves. It is a Koi's job to help them remember, and once the soul remembers, they are given a choice. Accept thier suicide, or give life another chance. If they give life another chance, they are reborn days prior to thier suicide, and reface the struggles and hardship which caused them to take thier lives, this time with guidence from the Koi. If this time, a lost soul doesn't kill themselves, they are given thier second chance at life.
Unbenkownst to the lost soul however, if they kill themselves again, or if they accept thier suicide, they are cast into damnation for a single lifetime, and are reborn as Koi.
