"Demonic powers..." Gray muttered, popping another berry in his mouth.

"I never was given a true explanation, for my abilities. Not even the guy who taught me how to use them." The boy said, looking at his own hand. "What if I am some sort of disgusting half-breed demonspawn?" He continues with a sound of disapproval.
"...Demons can be heroes too, right?" Gray finishes in question form, frowning slightly.

He places another berry in his mouth, staying quiet. In his mind, he was a bit afraid, really. If he said anymore, the girl might get... Offensive. And he was in no condition to fight- Nor did he want to fight the girl. He slumped back down behind his stone, sighing heavily.

Rose's face remained unchanged as she addresses his question."No, Demons can't be heroes, they're beings who make pacts and deals with you for horrible power." To her such a question was as clear as day, mainly because she had been brought up around such beliefs and she stuck to them hard.

"Anyway, I don't know the source of your power for sure, I don't even know my own..." Her voice trails off as she herself thinks of the possibilities, her own magical power was an oddity even to herself.

Gray looked back up from the ground, smiling slightly. "Well, I mean, there's good in everyone, so even demons have to have some ounce of decency in them, right? Everything with a soul has some heart in them." He pointed out, popping one more berry into his mouth before taking the bag and standing up. He limped over to the female, ignoring the pain that seared his body with every step. No pain, no gain, right?

"Whatever the case, thanks." He says quietly, holding the bag out for the girl. "I don't think you ever gave me your name." He points out, a small smile on his face. "I figure if we are going to be stuck together for however long, It would be better if we knew what to call eachother, right?" He said.

The girl shakes her head gently. "I'm afraid not, Demons, devils, all those creatures are beings of pure evil, their mere existence is so."

Hearing the boy start to approach her she finally opened her eyes from their very short rest as she continued speaking. "It's the only reason my magic is so effective on them, it targets specifically evil beings."

Upon being offered the bag, Rose reaches out and takes it from Gray, digging around to retrieve a berry that she would quickly pop into her mouth. Popping the bag next to the sword she leaned against wall she spoke up. "Juniper Saelri. My companions generally called me Rose, you can as well I guess..." Her voice once more trails off as she stared out of the cave looking out into the burnt woods.

Quickly snapping back to reality the girl boosts herself up off the ground and brushes herself down. "Anyway, Night is on its way, I'll get a fire started, we shouldn't choke from the smoke in this cave, it's fairly big and the fire will be tame.

Gray thought about it for a moment, before nodding. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense." He says, scratching his head. He moved to the other side of the cave, sitting down on the cold floor. He had a lot of questions he wanted to ask. Why she saved him, why she didn't kill him, and what was her motives and goals. After taking a good look at her though... He figured the questions could wait. In his eyes, she looked more exhausted then he was, and he was the one who was nearly diced into fine pieces.

He finally smiled, looking down at the ground. "Rose, huh? My favorite flower was always the black rose- Something that was so dark, that symbolized something so insane, could still smell so pleasant." He calmly stated, a look of nostalgia on his face. "My mother had a flower garden, too. She never had any roses, but... She liked a lot of dark colored flowers as well. Shes the one who taught me that... That even the darkest of hearts can see the light." He continued, picking up a small pebble and tossing it outside of the cave.

"Listen to me go on. You get that fire going- I saw some acorns in there, I could roast them into something good to eat." He suddenly perks up, that same smile back on his face.
