Standing on the Edge (VeilofMaya & Huntress)

    Name: Alexis Morgana

    Age: 23

    Real Age: 317

Appearance: Black hair that bounces off of her shoulders with bangs that go over her left eye, covering it entirely. Her left eye is black, while her right one is red. Standing at 5'7", Alexis has a modest height. Her skin is paler than most vampires. She tends to wear thin, dark purple dresses.

Extra: She has a black rose tattoo on the top of each of her hands with the stems running down her arms. Her right eyebrow is pierced.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So, this is the day I get my bodyguard? This could be promising."Alexis thought to herself. And she was told it was going to be a choice of three females. No more creepy men to stare at her while she sleeps. What a gift. After a couple minutes, the doorbell rang. It was a very pretty girl, but not strong enough for her. The next one was stunning, but she seemed to about as bright as a doorknob.

The final one was someone she never, ever expected to show up at her doorstep.
"Who we are I'll never know
But when we spoke I knew you well
    You knew me well
You loved me through and through
I never thought I would watch you leave us
From a room as a kid I held so close
I was a son made up on sand
You were the wind that let me go
    I'll say goodbye
    So this is goodbye
    But I'm afraid to speak
So with words I'll tell the story
You meant so much to me
And like the night upon nights to come
    I will dream of you
And know that I will see you seen
Give me the strength to carry on!
    Tide!
    You are the ocean tide!
    The swells swept you away
I was a son made of sand
You were the wind that let me go
When the ocean tide has risen to high
And the waters have come to carry you away
Remember I will always be there to sing you to sleep....."

Name: Katherine (Kathy or Kat) Dunham
    Age: 26
    Real Age: 165
Appearance: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ps33a376fc.jpg (Almost six feet in height and fit)
Extra: Claw marks run up from her left hip and across her stomach. A bite mark adorns her left neck and shoulder.

Katherine had been in the business of law enforcement and security for as long as it was acceptable for a woman to do so. She’d been a police woman, a private investigator, a detective and even a federal agent, her ‘abilities’ helping her within the force. Unfortunately she had to switch up every decade or so just so things didn’t seem too odd. She was now working with a security company and they had recently bought into a new contract. It was a good paying gig and they needed female security guards, something about a personal guard for some high class customer.

Dressing in her work clothes Kathy drove out to the address. A secluded mansion just outside the city. It was huge, she couldn’t help but stare up in awe. Slowly nodding she smirked “Okay...” She muttered. Ringing the doorbell she was met by a red eye, contact lenses surely. The other eye was covered by the woman’s hair. The girl didn’t seem much older than twenty-two or twenty-three. She was shorter than Katherine and thinner. Kathy’s body being thicker, more athletic than the girl who could easily fit in with a group of models or the celebrities of Hollywood. Something told the blonde to be careful, there was more to this girl than she could currently see. Katherine couldn’t pin point it yet, but she’d be finding out soon.

“Uh...hi, Miss Morgana?” She asked eyebrow raised with a soft smirk. “I am Katherine Dunham. I was sent here for the position of a personal guard?” She spoke then asked.

"Please, call me Alexis. There is no need for formality here." She smirked. "So you are the last of what they sent?" Alexis said.
The woman was at least four inches taller than Alexis, and much more built then herself. Definitely the ideal person for the job.
Katherine smelled foreign, like nothing she had ever smelled before.

"I accept." She said, holding out her pale hand.

“I guess I am the last of what they sent.” Katherine spoke in slight confusion. She didn’t know of any other employees that had been sent over, perhaps it was rival companies that were trying to get the job as well. Kathy shook Alexis’ hand and smiled. That was easier than expected, no questions, nothing of the sort. Not that it bothered her, she liked the fact that she didn’t have to explain everything on her resume and answer anything else. She clenched her jaw noticing the girl’s hand felt unnaturally cold compared to her, much warmer body, which to some humans bordered with dangerous fever.

“So miss—Uhh...Alexis, sorry.” Kathy smirked forgetting about her request to call her by her first name. “Would you prefer if I stayed with you at all times? Possibly live in your home? I would understand if that’s too invasive. Many people prefer to work out a schedule which in turn I would follow. For example, I could arrive on your property at 7am and leave at 11pm. With whatever times you would prefer of course.” Kathy met the girl’s eyes with a soft smile. She seemed very mature for her age, she gave of this vibe that Katharine couldn’t exactly decode, but with time she would figure it out. Her scent beyond all the added shampoo’s and perfumes was very feint. It was a slightly disturbing smell, decay, death, mustyness...It caused the tall blonde to raise an eyebrow. Such a horrible scent for a girl her age. Their eyes locked as Kathy clenched her jaw. If there was anything else that Miss Alexis Morgana needed now would be the time to say it. Katharine would have to return to her supervisors and tell them that she had gotten the job.

"Yes you are the last of what they sent, none of the other ones are as...impressive as you." Alexis smirked. The blonde shook her hand firmly, and didn't seem to mind the eerie coldness of her skin. Strange, how much warmer she felt than humans did. "As things stand, we have more than enough room for another person to live here, especially my personal guard. Now, let me give you a tour of my mansion." Alexis said, directing her to the living room. This was Alexis' favorite room in the house, largely due to the giant, elaborate chandelier hanging from the middle of the ceiling. Each of the crystals had a small light in the middle of them that provided for a immensely beautiful light. The couches were fine black leather and on the walls were a purple and black pinstriped wallpaper. She then directed the both of them to the kitchen, and then to Katherine's room. "This is where you'll stay, if you want." The room was pretty big, with a huge stained glass window on the far wall. A california king sized bed sat in the corner, covered in fine cashmere. "We spare no expense on luxury here, if you can't tell." Alexis said, "My room is right next door to yours, so if you need anything in the middle of the night, just come let me know. I don't sleep much anyway."

Alexis got no sleep the night before due to a feeling that she had in her chest. A feeling she's never had before. Something was going to change, and she didn't know what or when.

    "Any other questions?"

Kathy nodded as she was taken through the incredibly large home. Meeting the girls eyes she smiled, revealing pointed canine teeth due to her...‘beastial’ nature. “Everything seems well explained, thank you very much for showing me around Alexis. Although, something did just cross my mind. Do you live here alone? I noticed you spoke about more than one person earlier. I’m just curious really.” Katherine said, her eyes and ears picking up movement down the hall, her sight focused on the shadow crossing the end of the hallway. “I can be here tomorrow morning, is there a time you would prefer? I have to go back and report to my superiors but also do some packing since I will have a home away from home for a little bit.” She smirked, her eyes returning to the single red eye of the shorter woman.

What was it about this girl and this home that made her hairs stand? A knot forming in her gut, telling her that something wasn’t right, or that something was a danger. After a century and half Katherine had learned to follow her gut, she wanted this job but she also had to be careful. Or things could go bad. Her emotions and feelings were an odd mix, although she was mostly afraid of what might happen, what her gut was telling her; there was also a sense of intrigue, that she knew about this somehow, there was something familiar within the musty old decaying scent of this house and this woman.

"You are most welcome." She said, smiling widely.

"Well, when I said we, I meant me and my...grandfather, Marcellus. Don't pay him any mind, he doesn't talk much. Not mean in anyway, just doesn't have much to say to "the new generation" as he calls it." She chuckled. Alexis saw Katherine smile, her teeth were larger than regular people. She didn't give it anymore thought, as she was not a human herself. "Oh be here anytime you like, i'm always awake." She explained with a hand gesture. Their eyes met, and it gave Alexis a strange feeling in her chest. "Stay here as long as you like, Make yourself at home." She offered, smiling again.

This was odd. Different. She didn't expect to see someone who can make her so...nervous appear at her door. Not that she minded. It's been a long, long time since she felt any emotion but boredom. She caught a whiff of her scent again. Still smelled foreign, but not bad. Strange though. "This ought to be interesting..." She thought to herself, taking a deep breath.

Katherine nodded in understanding. “Alright well I will see you tomorrow morning then.” The blonde smiled once more and made her way out. Getting in her car Katherine drove off, making her way home. Noticing the almost full moon a shudder escaped her as she smirked. Once home she packed a few bags and settled down for some dinner and a movie. She called it an early night and in the morning she was up early and in the shower. Once ready she grabbed her bags and drove out of town to her home away from home.

Making her way up the long pathway she knocked on the front door and placed her sunglasses on her head. Waiting for her new and intriguing client to answer so that she could settle in. Seeing the house in the day was completely different compared to the dimly lit night. The architecture was splendid, the house reminding her of her own times. Although her family was never wealthy enough to live within a home as grand as this one. Hearing footsteps coming from inside she smirked as the door was opened. “Good morning.” Kathy smiled.

Alexis left her bodyguard with a smile and went to her room and laid in her bed, and stared at the ceiling for the next few hours. Alexis got up and took a quick, cold shower and put on her purple silk dress and black heels. She took a quick look in the mirror, her eyes were deep red and swirling. "Oh god, not now..." She said, as she heard a quick knock on the door. "Dammit Alexis, will you get the door?" Marcellus yelled. "Yeah, don't break a hip getting out of bed, old man" Alexis snidely replied, running down the stairs and opening the door, only to see Katherine standing there. She had forgotten how much taller she was than herself. "Good to see you again!" Alexis said. "Is this house just enchanting? I love the design of it. It's been in my house for generations, so I guess it has a small place in my heart." She said walking through the foyer. "Now, if you remember, your room is just up the stairs and to the left. I recently had the room refurnished, so aren't you just the lucky one?" She chuckled.

"There's that feeling again." Alexis sighed to herself.

Katherine chuckled and stepped in. “It is indeed a really nice home. Very...Victorian.” Kathy smirked and made her way to the room that was assigned to her. “I guess I am lucky. Although I’m sure it was fine the way it was before.” She glanced over her shoulder and locked eyes with the younger woman momentarily. Stepping into her new bedroom Katherine looked around. It was a stunning room, like the rest of the house, it looked completely different in the daylight. The stained glass window shining an array of colours into the room. Although the scene depicted was a little odd and eerie. It consisted three humans, or what appeared to be humans. One was strewn across the floor while two others were hunched over, a stream of crimson pouring down across the corpse. Like vampires feeding off an innocent soul. There was a full moon in the piece of art as well.

Kathy cocked her head to the side and raised an eyebrow. “Hmph...interesting...” Perhaps she could ask about it later on. Although the blonde had never met or seen a vampire in person before she knew about them. She had to. They were known for the way they treated werewolves of all kinds and the rivalry they had. The vampires, with some humans of course, had nearly hunted the wolves to extinction. She wasn’t sure about why there was such tension between the species. She felt that there could’ve been some way for them to co-exist, there had to be. Although she always wondered how there could be so much hate for another kind, what could they have done to them? That question unfortunately had no answer for her.
