The eyes of a hunter took over the body. A wretched grin spread from cheek to cheek, teeth suddenly filed to points making an appearance on an innocent face. The boy's eyelids opened to an obscene width, a trickle of blood sliding down across a blood-red cornea. The door to the house opens of its own accord, letting the beast free into the world. It swiftly makes its way into more and more populated parts of the city; A strange number of translucent glowing spheres. The creature's eyes dart between each one individually, an expert precision keeping it moving swiftly from street to street. It moved as if it was searching for something. No, hunting something.
The forest is silent today, choosing not to speak out. It felt almost as if something was happening somewhere, and that all of the inhabitants had gone to see for themselves what it was. Hope stepped forward, his small shoes crunching on the leaves of the forest bed. A smile of purity crossed his lips in joy, the crackling sounds bringing some sort of inexplicable pleasure to his ears. He looked up from the ground, a cottage loomed off in the distance. Its wood was dark and beautiful, for some reason it seemed like it had only just been built no matter how many times he was brought to see it. There was an air of mystery about it, and she always had something new to show him. She would say something like "If you keep practicing, one day you will be able to speak to the forest too." And he would practice for the entirety of the day, sometimes even for a few days. They never stayed more than a few hours, but the scents and memories would linger for months in his mind - A curiosity constantly eating at him. Even so, he would go back to playing with the other children before long, the innocent mind of a child is a difficult thing to capture for long.
The forest breathes in the crisp air with him, he steps forward.
The door opened itself silently, an aura of darkness surrounded the wooden frame. The monster's eyes were fixed upon an unusually large glow. Its shape shifted uneasily as the dark presence made its way silently through the house, seeming to be semi-aware of the being.
The beast looms over the bed of a small child, a young girl no older than five. Her face is sweating in fear, but she sleeps unaware of the shell. A clawed hand reaches down to touch her face, her eyes shooting open and instantly revealing a premeditated horror. Her lips open to screa-
Cut brutally short. A strangle black tendril the size of a grown man's forearm shoots itself down into her throat just as quickly as she awoke, worming its way through her gullet - The black substance filling her lungs to the brim, choking fear and life out of her petite, thrashing body. The beast's hand covers that of the virgin child's face, grasping so tightly that the nails draw blood from her forehead, each kick causing newer, fresher beads of blood to drip, staining her pure white sheets.
She tries to inhale, her throat squeezing violently down on the tendril in an attempt to gather air. A sickening grin spreads across the beast's face as the body goes limp, her eyes rolling back into her head. A dark silence takes over the entirety of the house, the child's light has burnt to nothingness. The limbs of the body lightly thumping along the ground as it is drug across the ground by the head, blood trickling down from the soft creases of her lips.
The smell of burning incense brought the spirits of many to the small cottage. Hope took a seat quietly at a table in the center of the main room, his feet swinging happily above the ground as he waited patiently. An elderly woman came round a corner before long, carrying nothing more than a small piece of chalk. She hobbled around the room for a moment, drawing curtains closed, the room becoming dark save for the smoldering embers of the incense. With this complete, she took a seat opposite Hope, and began to draw out strange circles and symbols on the oaken table. A sudden sensation of strange, yet comforting warmth overwhelmed their bodies, strange words coming from the woman's lips...
It stood before a blank wall; The door to the room from whence it came had vanished. But it knew. It could see it. A claw drew blood from the face of the limp child, still dangling from the black tendril lodged firmly in her throat and lungs. It reached its hand up, coated in a thick layer of red, and began to draw a symbol where the door was supposed to be.
It opened.
The child's body smacked heavily against each step leading to the basement, fresh spatters of blood staining the creaking wooden boards. A wicked smile creeped once more across the beast's face as it rounded the corner to the basement - The foolish girl left everything in place. It raised the corpse up to eye level, reaching to the girl's neck as it stepped into the center of the circle. It twisted slowly, the shattering of vertebrae and pulling of tendons and muscle becoming the only noise in the house.
"I will have my sacrifice.""
