I voted for #2. Not only do I think it's cuter and more clever, but #1 seems to have some Photoshopping issues. The piece looks... odd, like it's not put together quite right. The cat sticks out awkwardly from the rest of the piece, and in certain places doesn't blend into the clouds as well. So #2 gets it for the added creativity over #1's Photoshop issues.

Although next time, #2, I would suggest printer paper over lined paper. Also, don't hole punch it.

I voted for Entry 2 due to the fact that I understand the pains of origami. Those lines are folded neatly and are gorgeous! It's interesting to see a different type of art for a change. Good luck, anon~

I should have entered under casual. I could've won easily. What a shame I was busy with a contest elsewhere.

I am voting for #2. It cute and takes a little know-how... although they probably just googled how to make an origami cat and colored it, although it's still more creative.

I'm not going to type up a critique for #1 like I usually would, the wall of text that would ensue would be massive. It's just not a good image. Sorry to be harsh. The idea was good, execution just wasn't there.



As a last note: If whoever made #2 wouldn't mind could I use their origami cat for a signature? I have a great idea for it. If the artist who made it could PM AOTM the answer to the question, and AOTM pm me the answer to keep it anonymous, it'd be helping me out a lot. Good inspiration is hard to come by.

I voted for #2 because I think beautiful art doesn't have to be intricate or digitally done. I love how simplistic it is and how it fits perfectly with the theme. Great job. As for ways to improve it, I would have gone with different paper, white or possibly a colored printer paper.

Don't get me wrong though, #1 is very well done too.

Voted for #2. The edges on the cat in #1 stood out too much.

Sorry for the insanely large picture... perhaps I should have resized it. Once upon a time I had a book of origami pets, and that actually had patterned paper with it. Problem was, I didn't remember where the book went. XD The only reason I used lined paper was because my parents would be mad if I used printer paper. Oh well.
