    Name: Mao "The raging Dragon"
    Gender: Male
    Age: 21
    Element: Fire
    Character archetype: Punisher

    Moves:
Move 1, melee: Flaming punch. Mao encircles his hands with fire creating burning boxing gloves that explode on impact dealing additional fire damage and creating an additional shockwave that passes through the body.

Move 2, short range: Fire fist. Mao shoots basic fireballs out of his fists. He can do this in a rapid fire way by using both hands.

Move 3, short range: Fire breakdance. Mao swings his legs around on the ground creating a 360 firewave that travels on the ground, knocking opponents of their feet.

Special ability, stunning melee strike: Lightning touch. Mao tried to teach himself how to use lightning but to no avail. As he had not found a way to release the current things just kept exploding in his face. The only way for Mao's lightning to reach his opponent is to touch him while he casts it. The powerful electric current stuns most people for a short period of time.

Extra feats: Fire barrage. Mao is a mostly self taught bender. His moves are often considered crude and inaccurate. He makes up for his lack of true training by combining them in rapid combinations and a hyper aggressive fighting style. Just send as much fire flying and something will sure hit. Next to his firebending he also is a decent martial artist.

Character flaws: Mao's aggressive fighting style is a great asset but also a weakness. He relies on overpowering an enemy in a short amount of time burning up a lot of his energy. Where a more balanced bender would conserve his strength Mao pushes forward until his enemy is defeated or he becomes fatigued. Once fatigued and no longer on the offence, his lack of defensive blocking techniques becomes clear the hard way.

Appearance: Mao is a tall young man with a well trained body. He has spiky short cut hear which is often beneath his yellow straw hat. He mostly wears his worn off traditional earth kingdom clothing but also has some in the black and red of the Firenation.

Character history: It is unclear where Mao is born or who his parents where. The only thing he does know is that he was dropped off in front of Hope's orphanage in the south side of the lower ring of Ba Sing Se, one of the worst slums of Ba Sing Se. Most of the people around are unemployed and crime syndicates rule the streets. Although live is tough in this neighborhood Mao grew up under the caring wings of elderly lady Hope. A respected woman who devoted her life to help orphaned Children survive in the hard conditions of the slums of this metropolis.

Mao found out at young age that he had a talent for firebending and started to practice by himself. Any skill that can help you defend yourself is an absolute necessity in the Lower south side. As his abilities grew Mao got involved into underground fighting tournaments with some degree of success. His agressive and violent firebending style soon earned the young man the nickname "Raging Dragon". The money Mao earns by fighting in such tournaments he donates to the Orphanage and serves as protector of the place. But with a new gang ruling the streets, protection money has gone up.....

I like the reference to Hope, and with both yours and Smallknight's characters as what Pona would call "street toughs", I have a feeling I know how we can bring everyone together. We'll add to it when more people sign up, but basically, I'm thinking that Pona still works on the side as a healer in the slums, so she also knows Hope, and by extension she knows Mao. Kaytora, as another "good guy" living on the streets, could know of the orphanage and Mao, and could be helping him protect the orphanage, something like that.

Pona goes out to the Lower South Side to recruit Mao and Kaytora as muscle, and to help her track down the killer(s), but they won't help until the orphanage is safe, so the first act involves dealing with the new gang on the streets and protecting Hope and the orphans. Thus, everyone (so far) is together, and Dragonbeard's main story can emerge as we deal with the gangsters. Does that sound good?
    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing...

    Only I will remain.

Hey guys, yesterday was a really busy night, so I didn't get my CS ready yet... I
was a little late in answering a question Notebooks had, so I'm pretty sure we can expect that CS up soon as well and I'll do my best to get a first post in the IC up as well.
As for that last part, I've only seen one title suggestion so far, so I'm still open for suggestions.

Oh, that reminds me, I thought of another title and never posted it: "My Blood is Not My Own"

It gels with the darker tone of hunting a serial killer or group of killers...

It's a good title, but if I tell you the reason why it doesn't really fit I'm spoiling a big part of the plot :s
