Settlers of of Isashi Valley
OOC

You've been contacted by his King Edward Neval III of Nevalia, you have been chosen to lead a new settlement, upon meaning with a group of royal advisors a group of explorers has recently returned from a year long expedition to the newly discovered Western Continent. You have been chosen as an expert in your field to lead an advanced settlement to put the first trading harbor run by an eastern Kingdom. The Kings plan was simple, secure trading routes with the locals, and establish a trading route for the Nevalian Navy. This could make Nevalia the most powerful of the 10 kingdoms.

Taj Jorge was the leader of the of expedition, and held many brefings telling you and the of the people and creatures he saw on the expedition.

In his own words
"The Isashi Valley is a fertile plain that spreads thousands of miles up and down the coast and far inland to the mountain range known as Dragonridge.
Cities know as Tribes dotted the landscape but they were much different than those home, they were small, lead an by an small government of elected officials there were no real nations just city-states, each focusing farming crops, raising livestock, producing goods and and trading between the neighboring towns. But war was an interval part of life as well, in the summer months after the crops had been sown or in the autumn after the harvest, it was common for these communities to attack one another over vendetta between the Tribes or sometimes unprovoked for cattle and occasionally land . There religion was different from that of our people as well, they worshiped many gods, each village having a specific few they worship to above the others and will often trade for blessings from the holy men of other tribes. The head of these deities is Isashi the father, the sun god. The people of these Tribes, the Isashi, would find reasons to celebrate, they hold lavish feasts, inviting neighboring tribes celebrating weddings or trade agreements between tribes or the long settling of debts, or even alliances before war.

"There are also nomadic groups that roam the valley, traveling priests of the the various deities trading prayers and sharing the powers of their enchanted items, mercenary bands travel around offering there service to the highest bidder, trading caravans selling goods from all over traveled with minstrels and bards, and there were more dangerous groups too such as bandit guilds and raiders. Life in the valley is fierce and competitive making for men of strong mind and body

"Now the beasts of the West are fierce creatures, sure there are rodents, deer, fowl, and insect, there are also bears that stand as tall as a house, giant crabs guard several areas of rocky coastline, giant yetis live in Rocky Mountains regions and attack men on site. At the southern edge of The valley in a massive bog we dared not cross, for mindless corpses walked through its mists. The great forest to the north lived strange half beast men who kept to themselves but the Isashi told us they were fearsome warriors. It was durring winter only weeks after we landed when we first saw a dragon, they hide above storm clouds and raid the occasional human settlement durring the cold months otherwise they roost in the Dragonridge mountains."

The kings mission was simple "The Western Continent is a dangerous unforgiving place, but we Nevali are strong we have plenty to offer the men of Isashi Valley know it 20 men from the expedition stayed behind and we were able to trade for the perfect plot of land, cove perfect for docking ships and small river to supply fresh water and a mill and forests to the river and a an area perfect for farming to the north. I would like thou to go there and establish a harbor town to act as our trading center for the West before any of the ten kingdoms even know it exists"

500 Men and Women were selected but A group of 6 councilors will lead the settlement

A 4 week voyage across the sea 3 of the largest cargo ships in the fleet were converted to carry the 500 men and women across the Great Sea, three fishing vessels followed inline carrying precious cargo for the settlers:

the parts to that construct a great forge
Tools and plows for craftsmen and farmers
Several trading wagons
Seeds and sapling trees to start crops
Several cows and other livestock to be bred into local supply
A surplus of armaments for the guards and hunters
A shipment of weapons and tools to complete the payment due form the king to the local tribes for our land
Two enchanted Relics from the church

Anything else the settlers would need would have to be traded for or found on the Western Continent.

----------------------------

It as a cool spring morning when Andreas awoke to the the sounds of cheering and screaming from the beach. It had been a long winter, Taj and most of the expedition left before the first frost leaving Andreas in charge of the 15 other volunteers who stayed with him. The winter was cold and harsh rain and hail pelleted the camp for weeks at a time so construction efforts were hindered but by spring they had turned a simple one room long house into what was to become a town hall.

The original Fort Nevalia was long room lined with bunk beds for the 50 explorers and at one end a large fire pit and at the other a great door opening toward another early construction, the beginnings of the dock of what was to become great port that was built just large enough to handle on the fishing boats. Taj and the others added large tower to fort around the smoke stack, this housed small rooms and the top floor served as a watchtower. Other rooms were added as well, but unfortunate no other structures had been built. He was glad to have some help 16 men could only do so much.

He rose from bed grabbing his tunic and trousers from a near by table. As he dressed he heard the men hoot and holler at sight of the sails moving in from across the horizon headed toward our cove. 'The dock isn't ready, if they only gave us a few more weeks, the fishing vessels will make it but everyone is going to have to row in to shore. Oh well those people will just be happy to get get off the boats' after splashing his face with water from wash basin, he slid on his boots and left his room and headed out the fort and across the yard to beach.

"Yeah boys, there here, that means we got work to do!" Andreas yelled out, the men yelled back some smart remarks then got busy. A fire pit was started by one group and a cow and a pig from the heard they had acquired over the year was slaughtered and roasted over the fire for the arrival of the settlers, and and several local dishes were being prepared w a sampling of local fruits as set out in the main hall, if there was one thing the Isashi taught the men in the year was how to throw a feast. Two of the men went to Kolding and Vejle Tribes to north and south respectively to invite neighboring tribe leaders meet the councilors. Andreas spent his this time moving the wood and saws out of the yard around the Fort, making room for the people and cargo to be unloaded.

It was after Midday when the first row boats tied themselves to the dock, carrying the councilors of course, Andreas greeted the men, grabbing a hand fowl from a loop in his belt wiping the sweat from his brow and dirt from his hand reached out to great them all, " I know it's been a long voyage and I'm sure your tired of salted meats and dried biscuits, several of the men are working on a feast and I've sent word to Tribes near by there leaders will be joining us, my men sent out this morning to fetch them. Until then, if your hungry there is food in the Hall otherwise" Andreas paused, he heard the hooves of horses. "Ah, chief of the Kolding tribe has arrived. The Kolding have one of the strongest armies in this area of the valley, their chief is also a the head of their fearsome warriors"

A group of men rode up on horse back. Leading the pack was a tall tan skinned man with long unkept hair held with a loose tie, his fur robes secured with clasps of carved bone and forged gold. " Members of the council I would to introduce you to Chief Valru of the Tribe of Kolding,"

Valru addressed the men and Andreas quickly translated, "Welcome to Isashi Valley, may this day be the start of a friendship between the people, the Kolding offer you this gift." He reached into a pouch dangling from his belt and removed a orange crystal and in Navarian tongue slowly said "Dragon Stone!"

He held it out in one hand and drew a blade out of the sheath hanging on his back. He touched the blade to the stoned a strange humming noise started emanating from the crystal and sword and after a moments he blade erupted in flames. The group of men clapped and thanked and Valru.

Andreas knew exchanging gifts was common part of Isashi culture, but relics like this were powerful, they really wanted our blades. Our metal was much stronger than anything Andreas and Taj came across in the Isashi valley. In the 10 kingdoms, almost all enchanted relics were controlled by the royalty or the church. With the Isashi Chieftains and Holy Men traded and coveted the most powerful relics, less powerful and newly discovered relics are traded as any other good.

It was a small hunk of opaque light orange quartz around the size of of an apple. as Andreas took the stone, it felt warm in his hands. Valru spoke to the men, returning to his native tongue, Andreas translated "Dragon Stones hold the power to charge a ten blades, then it needs to rest for a week. The metals you bring from across the seas have made our bladesmen strong, we hope this does the same for you."

Pleasantries continued between the men, I the meantime the settlers had began arriving on the dock and loading supplies from the fishing vessels in the field. A short time later another group of riders approached, the councilors were with Valru under the shade of a large tree sampling a Kolding Mead "Mia dol Vejle!" The chief bellowed!

The leader of this group was a woman, her skin was tan and her sun streaked brown hair was in a loose braid her clothes were a loose fitting linen died deep green, she hopped down gracefully from her stead. "Sirs this is Chief Mia, of the Vejle, a tribe renown for there looms that produce finelinens and wools"

"My people are pleased to welcome you as neighbors and hopefully great friends, A group of of my cattle drivers follow us bringing a gift of 25 goats we hope they bring fertility to your land," Andreas translated the female chieftains words. Another gift from the neighbors.

The sun had fallen low in the sky the smell of of the cooking pits filled the air, men and women were laughing and drink and the work of unloading had slowed to almost a complete halt. The three large vessels were anchored in the cove, the fishing vessels were tied to the small dock, several horns and guitars were unpacked and before long the feast had begun.
