After the full revealing of IBM's "Corona" AI system in 2063, several companies took off using stolen technology from the large corporation. One such company, WG "Worldwide Gaming" used the Corona's ability to generate fully sentient AI capable of both learning and emotion to fill their simulated universe. For many of centuries, the practice of to-the-death combat entertainment was both illegal and highly frowned upon. When WG gaming went to court over the rights of sentient AI created by a company in WG vs US Department of AI Technologies, it was decided that sentient, 'emotional' AI did not truly experience emotion in any sense, and were merely simulations. WG was free to start up their largest internal project, known as "SYNTH", a game with a perfect simulated fantasy universe populated by Corona-generated AI.

Initially a game open to the public, SYNTH garnered so much popularity that it eventually morphed into a worldwide sport, meeting the popularity of soccer and promoting a sense of nationality in players. The original SYNTH was renamed and a new non-public version was brought into being. Star "Synthletes" from countries were trained and promoted in the worldwide game much like Olympian athletes. Seasons occur every two years, in which countries and their respective players attempt to win the SYNTH season. Their goal; the destruction of any number of simulated AI, with more points and "Kudos" being awarded to players who killed a powerful AI, or in a flashy way. Audience ratings are heavily monitored, and often influence the judges decisions. An entire simulated year occurs in SYNTH, though lasts a single month in the real world, with television programs highlighting important moments like difficult kills or deaths of players. The winner becomes an idol, receives a monetary prize, and is put into a hall of fame. Player deaths in SYNTH result in them being ejected from the season, and cause no biological or psychological harm.

But you are not one of these players.

You are an AI.

Created to die.

Incapable of escaping your world.

This will be a sort of "online fantasy game" roleplay, save for the fact that only a handful of real-life players actually enter the world of SYNTH at a time. You will play as an AI created in this universe. As far as you're concerned, you are a real, living, breathing individual that was born naturally from your parents. The appearance of "Death Gods" every twenty-four years is all you see. In this world, you are capable of nearly anything, and due to the nature of the program you unknowingly live in, pretty grandiose and powerful things exist. Most everyone is capable of magic, becoming a great hero, anything so long as you set your mind to it! Though the SYNTH players are technically gods, rules and regulations in the game prevent them from becoming unstoppable OP monsters; the audience prefers players go through difficulty and danger when playing SYNTH. While their death results in a boot, an AI's death is permanent and very, very, real. As an AI, you can be anything, even a great hero from the start, though I suggest you not test the freedom I give you; I do not want over-powered characters in this. There should be a definite sense of danger and despair.

You will start just days before the Death Gods appear, and you must survive for a year before it ends.

Going to keep an eye on this, but I'll refrain from expressing interest (commitment) for a bit longer.

Just a quick question, as AI I understand that we think of ourselves as humans. But would we have the entire born from a mother/father, raised as a child, 'stuff' happens aspect. Or will we just be created as an entity? (As in get created into the world at say 18 years of age). Additionally do we know anything about the game, and the outside real world? (Knowledge of being AI)

Since it's a perfect simulation, the AI even grow through the years, just like we do. They are born as babies, and grow old and die. They are not just popped into existence at a certain age. They experience and keep memories. You can think of them as a perfect replica of ourselves, just that they're simulated.

The AI only know that every twenty-four years these players come and wreak havoc upon everyone in their world. Sometimes they see the same "Death God" come back to life many years later. They do not think they're in a game, and the mere thought is as silly as us theorizing that a giant noodle monster created us. There a certain few AI however, who do know they are in a simulated universe.

Yes, that'd be right. In the world of SYNTH the Gods come every 24 years, and their presence lasts about a year before they disappear.

In the real world, it's every two years. It lasts a month in the real world, and a year in-game.
