S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Frontier Ukraine
IC:

1986, Pripyat, Ukraine. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant's No. 4 reactor suffers a catastrophic power increase, causing explosions in its core. The disaster sends mass amounts of radioactive particles into the air around Pripyat and beyond, the toxic cloud reaching as far a Norway. Years later, the Ukrainian government tries to clean up and repopulate the area around Pripyat, stationing military personnel and scientists in the region. However, another critical accident occurs in 2006 and the majority of Pripyat's new inhabitants are killed or mutated by the event.
It is now 2012 and the Zone of Alienation is now home to many individuals called "stalkers." Stalkers are wanderers, seeing thrills, wealth and adventure within the Zone. The Zone has become a new frontier of sorts, although is officially off-limits and policed by the Ukranian State Security Service. Stalkers are an illegal, but ever-present feature of the Zone, attracting many different kinds of people. Some stalkers band together to form paramilitary organizations, research groups, or simply to get by. Being a stalker is dangerous business, especially with the Zone teeming with mutants, the children of Chernobyl. Not to mention the radiation and anomalies that dot the wilds.
Despite the hardships, you have come to the Zone with a band of like-minded hopefuls, seeking a new life inside of the Zone. Will you find whatever it is you seek? Will you join other stalkers for a greater cause? Or will you simply try to survive the dangers that lurk in the dark? The Zone is your frontier, for better or worse.

Thank you for taking a look at this OOC! I hope you're just as fascinated with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s setting as I and want to try your luck in the Zone. For those unfamiliar with the game, but still interested, I'll defer you to the links at the end of this post. In this RP, all the players will be part of a small band of newbie Stalkers, diving into the exciting and dangerous world of the Alienation Zone. No matter your reason for being a Stalker, your friends are your life and all of you must work together to overcome the challenges that await. It's no wonder most Stalkers who venture alone never return - they never had an extra hand to help them along! You and your band must decide where it will go and what decisions it will make; will you join a greater faction and lend hand to a cause? Or does a life of banditry sound more appealing? Maybe you'd rather get rich by selling artifacts? The choice lies with you and your friends!

Ground Rules:
-I will play a character, but I will also direct the flow of the RP. Should you explore a room, stumble across a stash, loot a camp, I will provide details regarding your findings. I will also control NPCs, enemies, the environment, etc. to give the RP a living, breathing atmosphere for us to interact with. In the RP, what I say goes, but I won't be a tyrant and try to kill you off in a particularly evil fashion. I just ask you follow the course of the RP and respect what happens.
-Play realistic characters. The majority of you are young and new to, or have recently lived in the zone. You won't know everything there is to know yet, and you won't be a badass at the flick of the wrist. Your gun may jam, you may get caught in an anomaly, you may expose yourself to radiation and you just might get robbed. It's the nature of the Zone.
-Be honest about your inventory! It's imperative you keep track of your belongings. I'll manage everyone's items on my end, but only to a basic extent. I expect you to know what you have and don't have and be mature about your item counts. Also, know your weapon! Know how many rounds it will carry in one magazine, what its limitations are, etc. I'm expecting you to be responsible about your ammo count. I don't want to have to keep track of how many rounds you've fired; no need to be exact, but you do have to swap mags and you will run out of ammo if you don't find more. And obviously, you have to have the right calibers for your weapon(s).
-Respect your fellow stalkers! We're here to have fun and have fun we shall!
-Upon reading and agreeing to abide by these rules, add "Сталкер" to the very bottom of your CS. It's Stalker in Russian.
