Dark Souls [Medieval Fantasy RP][It's a videogame.]

These are the closing years of the Age of Fire. The Gods have fled their holiest of cities, and mankind clings to the dying embers of a golden age. The dead walk, and whole nations buckle under the damning glow of the accursed Darksign and its hollow children. Yet, even the threat of the undead outbreak pales in comparison to the darkness biding its time under the world's surface. Beasts of all shapes and sizes prowl the wilds and beset the once proud realms of man, and ill portents haunt the soothsayers' and oracles' every dream.

Even in the fabled Kingdom of Astora, home to warriors and craftsmen of great renown, the people are in dire peril. Though the loyal knights of King Dusan II do not yield to the threats facing their people, they are severely outmatched. The countryside has become dangerous, to the point of uninhabitability. Travel is left to heavily guarded caravans, and even then only the bravest dare try their luck against the ravenous hordes of hollows stalking the wilds who wish for nothing more than act upon their infinite hatred for the living.

To make the situation worse, a plague has only just swept across the land, and has left a staggering number dead or dying even despite the isolation caused by the dangers of the road. Among the victims of the plague happens to be the King himself, who even now remains bedridden and weak. He, and indeed his own physicians have little hope for his recovery, and so he has decided to make preparations for his son's succession. This came as a surprise, and even an outrage, to much of the nation, for the King's son bears the Darksign. He is undead, and like those undead who still cling to their sanity, he was sent south, to one of the asylums that was built into the icy Halal Mountains to await the inevitable descent into madness that comes with undeath. Only, to complicate matters, contact with the Prince's asylum has been lost.

And so, the King has sent for some of his bravest knights, willing mercenaries, and a contingent of warrior clerics from the neighboring realm of Thorolund. These noble warriors, and their charges, are bound on a mission which they can not fail. The fate of the greatest kingdom of all mankind hangs in the balance. They must return the prince to the capital city of Jenier at all costs.

Hey there! I'm gauging interest for an RP I've had in mind for awhile now. It'd, as the title suggest, be based on the game Dark Souls. It'd take place in the Kingdom of Astora and neighboring lands, unlike the game itself, which is set in Lordran. The players would be members of the rescue party headed south to retrieve the prince, and would be allowed to play as either living, breathing humans or the undead.

So, please, if you think this looks neat, pop in and say so. I want to see if I'd get any players if I went through with this. Dark Souls is a bit of a niche game, after all, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Oh. It'll probably be advanced. Or super-duper high casual.

Sounds interesting. I've been looking for a Dark Souls or Dark Souls-esque RP.

Count me in. I strongly advice that you place this RP in Advanced category.

I'd be interested in this, for sure. As long as it's not an issue if I don't know the game. I'm happy to do research and get up to speed, however.

I'm glad to see some interest! Some basic knowledge of the universe would be necessary to participate, I'd say, but you won't need to know much more than the framework. A lot of this game will be homebrew, considering how little information there is about the lands beyond the playable game world.

I'll wait a bit longer, and see if any more interest comes along while I work on an OOC thread.
