Meow and Hunt! (SilverRain x AkiBlue)

[SilverRain]

"Seize him" came the voice of a much older man. Several amed soldiers and a spellcaster surrounded Max. The spellcaster instantly cated a spell on Max that disabled his magic abilities. The other men encricled Max, armed with swords and flails. And archer waietd in the distance. It turned out that the voice of the man belonged to the Mayor of the town. And next to him was Daniel standing proudly as he sneered at Max.

"Releasing a demon threat without a trial, Max?" said Daniel provokingly as he paced around the other hunter. Max had let kita go from when she was caught in the ring of fire. The secnd time was by the side of the river. "I may not be as strong as you, but at least I am loyal to the guild. Do you know what happens to hunters who have sided with the demons?" teased Daniel with an air of triumph. "They die"

Deep within the forest, Kita leapt from tree to tree as the hunters chased after her demonic signature. She lead them further and further away from town, hoping that they would tire with time. Her endurancnce was greater than theirs, although blasts of magic energy would shoot past her. In the end she came back to the cold cavern and dashed inside. She had the advantage over the hunters here. They made sounds. She did not.

Max had his sword up instantly as he was surrounded. Though it was stabbed into the ground, recognizing mostly everyone there. "Now, what did I do?" He leaned against his sword and stared as Daniel approached him. He narrowed his eyes and growled. "If you hadn't attacked me...she would have been in my possession." He pushed Daniel out the way to look at the Mayor. "So, I'm guessing he didn't tell you how he attacked me for a low classes demon- because he wanted one of the higher ups positions?"

His voice was calm and he returned to his sword. "Daniel. I will tell you this once- and in front of everyone. You're trying to get your neck snapped...I do not like you." He glared and then looked over at the mayor and the soldiers. He noticed the archer in the distance, but didn't glance in his direction. "Are you still planning on killing me?"

Daniel laughed. "So what if you don't like me? But I won't be killing you. The court will" said Daniel as he stood proudly. Well that was until the Mayor spoke. "Guards, seize this one as well. Attacking a fellow hunter is an offence". Daniel stepped back. "What the hell? What did I do?". Daniel's protests were futile as he was knocked to the ground and bound up. The guards returned their attention to Max as one of them tried to bring him down to his knees. "Either you come with us willingly or we use force" said the Mayor as he stood in front of Max.

Meanwhile, the other soldiers that were sent to hunt Kita were now lost in the cold cavern. Kita hid in a hole, watching as the soldiers ran past. Looks like she would have to stay here for a moment.

Max smirked seeing Daniel hit the ground. "Serves you right..." When one of the guards approached him, Max slowly put his sword away and put his hands in the air. "If I fight or run away, I'm sure you'd try to kill me on sight. I'm not an idiot like that one." He stated, gesturing to Daniel when speaking of idiots.

Max slowly got on his knees, and held his hands out to be bonded. "Let's get this over with." A few of the guards watched in agitation. Why was he so calm? Shouldn't he be panicking and hoping not to die? Max noticed their frustration and smirked. "You guys shouldn't be so upset when handling prisoners."

The guards then began moving the two prisoners in the direction of the second group who were looking for Kita.

"Upset? More like tired. You're the tenth one we caught tonight" muttered a guard. The Mayor shot a stern look at the guard. All went quiet as Max was lead away (followed by a tightly bound Daniel who was being dragged along). They passed the cavern that Kita was supposedly in. The Mayor stopped. "Where's the rest of the men? Have you not caught that blasted demon yet?" he questioned.

"Uh, no Sir. It's playing a game of hide and seek with us. Our spells don't work around corners either, so it's been really hard to catch" explained a soldier.

"Seal the entrances and smoke it till it dies. Now, before it escapes again"

"But Sir, there are still other men inside!"

"NOW!"

The Mayor continued to walk. He had other matters to attend to. His plan was just coming into action. It wasn't long before Max and Daniel were chained to the wall in a dungeon. The wind came in from the small hole with bars, but that wasn't enough to mask the scent of dead people. In front of them were torture tools and rats licked away at the blood on the floor.

Screaming and shouting could be heard echoing along the walls. Some of the voices would be recognised by the two. The voices belonged to other hunters. One or two of the voices even desperately called out to Max. Then the voices were gone, replaced by blood curdling screams. And then silence.

Max held back the concerned expression when they spoke of killing Kita. She was harmless- and really didn't deserve to die, but what could he do?

"I never thought I'd be in this place." Max looked around the dungeon. He had always heard stories about the place, but to be trapped inside was another story. "I hope you're happy idiot." Max tugged the chains gently, testing it's strength. He thought about an escape plan, and also a speech to prove innocent. Though to Daniel, it would just look like he had given up and hung his head down. Daniel was terrified. He didn't think the dungeon would be so...torturing. To think that those weapons could be used against him. What did he do?

"Well at least they didn't kill us on the spot. They probably want to do it here so that no one can see. do you hear the screams of the others Max? They're dying without even a trial. Soon it will be us. There will be no trial. We die here tonight" said Daniel as he looked at Max. Max seemed to be playing dead. Daniel looked ahead and laughed sadly to himself. "So this is what happens to all the demons we caught. The strong get killed here, the meek get killed through trial"

By now Daniel's fear swept through him. He wasn't sure how he was going to die. The way of torture there was so many. Daniel had no escape plan at all. Daniel looked in horror as he saw a body being dragged across the doorway. A head, a body but no arms or legs. "...Luca-?" Daniel then started to quiver as tears came to his eyes. "I don't want to die..."

Max listened to his yammering and peeked out of one eye. "Shut up." He ignored everything on the outside- it was a distraction."We're going to get out. I am sure of it." By now, both his eyes were opened and he was staring at the door. "When the two guards come to get us...I want you to say an incantation that will clothes the door behind them. I'll unlock us and we'll kill them silently." He couldn't stress enough emphasis on that last part.
"We'll switch outfits and drag the unconscious ones to...whereever." Max paused and looked up at the window. "I'm sure by then we'll be able to leave before the idiots really know who we are. Then we'll be fugitives and have to live our lives in hiding."

"That's all nice and dandy. But have you forgotten max? They sealed our magic when they captured us. Both you and I won't be able to cast anything for 48 hours. We need to find some other way around your plan. Quick! Play dead!" went Daniel.

He dropped his head and kept his breathing steady as he listened to the footsteps of someone walking into the room. They were dragging equipment in - metal rods and a hot and burning fire. The person studied Daniel and Max for a moment before they left the items there and exited the room. It seemed that torture was coming to them next. Whilst killing the two hunters would be a simple task, their deaths had to be faked so that it would seem that they fought against orders, hence the torture.

Max groaned lightly an rolled his eyes when he was told to play dead. "I'm not a dog." Though he did close his eyes for a moment, listening to the guards' entrance. When they left, he opened his eyes and studied the equipment. "The guard on the left had keys. It was on his right hip." He informed as he eyed the torture equipment. It looked painful, so the feeling would most likely be a thousand times worse.

While they were standing there like sitting ducks, Max pulled a small needle from his sleeve and began to pick the lock. He was always prepared. "One....almost....annnd....there we go." There was a soft click and he rubbed his wrists. Max quickly unlocked Daniel and then grabbed one of the rods. "Once they are in. We attack." He stood at the door and heaved a sigh. "This is going to be a long day..."
