    Rhoda

The last few days of Summer crept up on Rhoda like the ominous hand of Death. She dreaded the thought of returning to school. She wanted to remain in Summer's solitary confinement forever, never returning to the taunts and name-calling. Rhoda had studied the entire Summer, Dedicating herself to the pursuit of success. With her father consistently in a drunken comatose state it was as if she had the trailer all to herself and she adored her time alone. She read, wrote, calculated, painted and even experimented in the kitchen all in the safe sanctuary of solitude.

The final day of Summer had arrived abruptly and raw. Rhoda was now forced to brave traveling into town to buy new clothes for school. Something she never enjoyed due to the abundance of "pretty" girls that ruled the roost. Trying her best to make the experience as quick as possible she darted to the good will store where due to obvious financial problems she had to buy her clothes. It took her fifteen minutes to get everything she needed and just like that she was back on Main Street on her way home until something caught her eye. In the window of an expensive store she knew the "pretty" girls shopped at was a mannequin dressed in brown. She wasn't sure what was possessing her but she found herself walking into the store and being greeted by the charming sales assistant. "Can I try it on?" She asked.

An enormous ball of energy fluctuated over the town, It shined brightly white and slowly descended onto Main Street. As it touched the tar of the road the white energy burst to reveal two metallic structures, One very slender and tall, the other very wide with clockwork. The people on Main Street were in an uproar. Some were fascinated, some were frightened and some were even repentant. "Well, Andromon? Are we going to do this not? I don't have forever you know." The clockwork one said, immediately bursting into a curious fit of laughter afterwards.
"My apologies, Clockmon. Let us begin." Andromon, the slender one said. Andromon raised his robotic hand which began to exude a powerful and visible aura. He placed his hand on Clockmon who instantly responded with,
"TIME STOP!" Smashing his hammer fiercely against the tar of the road releasing a pulse of Andromon's strange aura.

Rhoda clambered out of the changing room feeling rather on show. The sales assistant stood immobilized, eerily smiling at her. "I look silly don't I?" She asked, spinning around to look in the mirror. She was taken back, "Is that really me?" She asked again with a hint of hope in her voice. Confidence swelled her being like she'd never felt before, it poured out of her smile. "What do you think?" she asked once more, her eyes lighting up expectantly but the sales assistant didn't respond.

    'Loser!'
    'What're you reading, freak?!'
    'Get a life!'
    'Move it, nerd.'

Her internal dialogue of insecurity bested her and the facade was pierced. "I understand." Rhoda said disheartened.

A giggle echoed through the shop, it enveloped every corner of the room. Startled, Rhoda spun around to investigate the sound now realizing it was dubiously quiet. She scrunched her eyebrows getting a better look at the sales assistant, "Are you alright?" she said waving her hand in his face.
"I think you look amazing! You're the prettiest girl I've ever seen!' A dainty delicate voice said, followed by the cavernous giggling sound.
"Me? Are you trying to be funny?!" Rhoda fumed.
"No of course not! You look like a princess." The mysterious voice said. Rhoda was speechless, No one had ever given her a compliment like that in her life.
"Th-Thank you." She said scanning the room looking for the boy, "Where are you?". A plodding sound made it's way towards her.
"My name's Burgamon!" Burgamon said, bursting out of a clothes rack laughing. Rhoda was gobsmacked at the sight of the little creature, very small and pale pink with a burger bun head.
"What on Earth are you?!" She exclaimed.
"Earth?" Burgamon giggled, "I'm not from EAAARTH." He stated.
    "A, An alien?"
"An alien?! You're silly, I like you!"
    "Then what are you?!"
    "I'm your partner, Rhoda."
"How do you know my name?!" Rhoda asked. The floor beneath the pair began to tremble and Rhoda fell to floor. Burgamon "chivalrously" rushed to her side.
"Are you alright, Rhoda? We need to leave now!" Burgamon exclaimed, Changing his tone from playful to deadly serious. The tremors began to worsen as the sunlit room faded to black.

    ***

Main Street had been frozen in time. Clockmon and Andromon walked side by side through the streets of Rhoda's town passing by the lifeless statues of people going about their day. "You need to hurry." Clockmon said, "It's almost time... Scratch that, It is time.". An enormous black rift in the sky opened up, shedding a dark skin all over the town as if it was night time. Andromon's brisk walk became a sprint as he erratically searched the town.
"Athenry!" He cried. Bat-like creatures began to spill from the dark portal,
    "Demi-Devimon!" Some cried.
    "Vilemon" The others roared.

Now that summer break was over, Katsuma had to become adjusted to school again. God, how that bored him. He just sat around, usually, lazily, and answered things when he needed to. *He wasn't super excited to go back, but he needed to get ready. Almost robotically, he sat up from where he was, which was his living room couch. Being lazy like usual...

"Mom!", he called out, and waited for a reply. Nothing came back; he was home alone. His mom was probably out working. Ever since his dad died in a car accident, things had been rough. His mom had to take up another job to support them. But, it never bothered them much. Katsuma cared for his and his mother's well-being, but it never really crossed his mind much.

Glancing around the room, he found his shoes under the other couch. Sighing, he crossed the room to retreive them. Well, attempted to retrieve them; upon intiating the walk to the other couch, he hit his shin on the coffee table in the middle of the room.
"Ouch!", he shrieked before collapsing to the floor, wincing in pain. He heard footsteps progressing towards him.
Is Mom home...? he thought, but upon opening his eyes he saw what was a little... No, wait, a BIG tortoise, with a helmet on its head. "Are you okay?" it asked with a groggy voice, like its mouth was full of water. "Umm, yeah, thanks... Are you, like, some late birthday present from my mom or something?" Katsuma pondered and, simultaneously, asked the tortoise-like creature. "Birthday... What?" it asked, looking confused. Then it laughed and told him, "NO, silly, I'm Kamemon!"
"Kamemon?" he asked. "Yeah, Katsuma, I'm your partner!" Kamemon replied.
"Wait, hold it. Partner? Partner in what? And how do you know my name?!" Katsuma sputtered out, surprised. "What's going on?" he asked, putting on his shoes.
"C'mon!" Kamemon spoke, dragging Katsuma by the hand through a closet door, sprinting as fast as his little tortoise legs could take him. When they entered the closet, it wasn't exactly a closet...
"We learn because we experience, not because we're taught. Teaching is nothing but words that describe what a situation would be like. Why not experience it? Live life to the fullest: laugh, love, play, everything. We get one shot at this, now let's do it right!"

I recommend you all listen to it. Great and amazing song!

It had been a pretty bittersweet end to the summer, but getting back to school was actually somewhat of a relief to Akira. Sure it meant just more responsibility piled up on her, but at least it was somewhat of a break too. Taking care of everybody at home was exhausting and last evening just seemed even worse. She was angry and had yelled at her younger siblings when she couldn't prepare anything for dinner, until finally forcing one of her younger sisters to go into piggy bank savings. The sister reluctantly agreed, but handed the money over to Akira anyway. She then bolted out the front door without looking back. Was it the right thing to do? She wasn't sure, but she just cared about getting food on the table. It was her father she despised most in that moment. He was the one who could have been helping out yet he chose not to. Why?

"Here, just eat." Akira felt indifferent as she had set the food on the table. She was just relieved they had made it through another day. It pained her daily to know that without her support her siblings would be going to bed hungry while their mother was off in the casino. All the time. It was no secret she was an addict and refused to seek help. Akira wasn't sure whether to pity her mother or to despise her, but she felt it was hard to despise the one who nurtured her even if there was problems between them. "I'm sorry for getting angry, I shouldn't have. I was just...frustrated." Akira had muttered over her food, hoping her siblings would hear the apology.

This morning getting out of bed was particularly difficult for Akira while still having the night before painted in her mind. Did she over-react? It was also no secret that she had a short-tempered streak that would get the best of her. Of course she would never do anything to physically harm those she cares about, but was even the yelling too much? Akira wasn't sure and she pondered this while getting dressed.

"Come on you two. Today we're going shopping for new school clothes. Mom left us some money this time. It'll be our treat." Akira got the other two up and ready. They also seemed excited to start school again in a few days or maybe it was just like a break for them too. Akira led them out the door to begin the short walk downtown. Thankfully they lived close. As usual for clothes shopping their target today was the good will store. "Each one of you can choose out something nice." she commanded as they entered the store.

It was maybe five-ten minutes of browsing when Akira began feeling the tremors. She started to panic as she searched the store for the others. Which shelf were they hiding behind this time? Akira wasn't sure how to react. Why was there an earthquake now? There hadn't been any warnings, at all. Alright, maybe it just wasn't serious enough for warnings. she thought about the tremors just as she noticed something come out from under one of the shelves.

The thing didn't look like anything Akira had seen before, but like a small mammalian creature. It was certainly strangely coloured too. She wasn't sure whether to approach the creature or let it wander off, but didn't have much time for deciding as it seemed the creature already decided for her. "Hello Akira." the creature said, now staring into Akira's eyes.

"You...you can talk?" Akira was startled, but somehow knew she could trust whatever this thing was. It did know her name afterall.

"I'm Elecmon, your partner." it seemed the creature had been eagar to introduce himself as Akira didn't even have to ask questions. She didn't know what this "Elecmon" was referring to when he mentioned that they were partners, but she was willing to find out.

It was the end of the summer and Athenry's spirits were low indeed. It wasn't that she had to go to school tomorrow. St. Agathe's wouldn't open again for another week. But seeing the town kids go to back to public school just reminded her of the fate that awaited her like a hangman and his noose at the end of an escalator. There was no going back; only forward into inevitability.

Today she spent with her very best friend, Cody Price. The two were just shooting the breeze, walking through town. When they got to Main Street, Athenry went into the candy store and bought the biggest box of fudge she could find, as was tradition. Also as was tradition, the two kids went down to the docks and stuffed as much of the sweet stuff into their mouths as they could handle.

Athenry's and Cody's parents both didn't allow them candy in their own homes, but that was only part of the reasoning behind this. Back when they had gone to school together, they had once done this, hoping that coming home with stomachaches would make their parents think they sick and keeping them home from school the first day. It never worked, but the kids kept up the tradition because it gave them an excuse to binge on something they weren't supposed to have.

After Athrenry had depleted less then half of the box, she laid back on the dock, with her legs still dangling over the side. She watched the clouds and the birds seagulls wheeling above the two children, scanning shorelines with their sharp eyes for molluscs, or likely for more easier foodstuffs like dropped french fries. Athenry liked to think it was molluscs, though. After she had learned that seagulls took the clams up in the air and dropped them on rocks until they shells broke, she couldn't help thinking of the cute white birds as rabid killers in her imagination.

"Man, what a waste of a summer." The redhead groaned.

The pale, dark haired boy rolled his eyes and nudged Athenry's shoulder. "You are such a drama queen, Thenny!" He said it to rhyme with Jenny. "You act like you're the one going tomorrow! You have a whole week left, and I bet you'll have it a lot easier at St. Agathe's."

"You take that back!" Athenry said, sitting up, be already feeling a bit heavy from all the fudge "Or maybe you would like to wear long stockings and a skirt all the time."

"Nah- wouldn't be able to pull it off." Cody said, and Athenry gave him a glare. "Actually, I wish Shannon Milburn went to St. Agathe's..." He continued. This time Athenry got up and tried to push off the dock into the cold ocean water, but the younger boy was too fast for her.

"Idiot." Athenry barked, but she was smiling. "They aren't that kind of uniforms. They're frumpy and they're made of wool and they make hot girls look fat."

"Oh," Cody said, disappointed, and the girl laughed at his exaggerated pained expression. But there was the slightest sliver of fear within her. Athenry knew she and her friend couldn't stay kids forever. Cody was admiring the girls with his eyes more and more often. Not that Queen Shannon would ever even consider Cody. And knew that she herself just wasn't interested in being anyone's girlfriend. But sometimes she was scared that she'd come home one day and find that Cody had a girlfriend that he only wanted to do girlfriend-boyfriend things with, and then would she have any friends?

"Well, do you know what I'd do if I was you?" Cody asked with a sneaky grin.

Athenry knew another bad joke was coming, but she didn't know what it was yet. "What?"

"I'd just buy the school and change the uniform. What do you think of a low cut-" But before he could finish that thought, Athenry pushed Cody into the water. This time, his guard was down and she had managed to take him by surprise. It was a floating dock, made of a bunch of connected platforms, so he didn't have far to fall. He bobbed up and spit salt water out of his mouth "Nicely played." And started to swim back to shore.

It was to be expected- Cody made a joke once in a while, but he really didn't care about her family's wealth. Living in a big mansion with a gate and being driven around in a BMW wasn't something you could hide in a small town like this, and Athenry had never tried to. But a lot of kids at school assumed she was a snob just because her family had a lot of money. They sneered at her and excluded her just because that's what they thought she was going to do! It was a little mind boggling.

When her parents decided that she should go to St. Agathe's, it seemed to be even more proof that Athenry was completely stuck up, and some of her casual friends had outright abandoned her. That had hurt like heck. Good thing Cody was still there. The thing was, her parents hadn't sent her St. Agathe's just to throw their money around. They had really wanted her to do well in public school. But when the teacher had called them, concerned about her grades, they panicked and decided that she had needed a more hands on educational experience. So that was it. No discussion, no asking her. Her parents made a decision and Athenry said goodbye to her home town and lost her friends and was shipped upstate to hang with other rich kids for nine months.

Athenry gave it a few seconds, than ran up to the dock and back into the rocky beach. Cody dragged himself out of the water, but Athenry kept herself a few paces away- to far from him to reach her and pull her in. "Woah, I think I'm tripping!" Cody exclaimed, his posture swaying.

"Nice try, Cody, but you're not going to pull me in." Athenry crossed her arms over her chest. Cody didn't reply back. In fact, he didn't move a muscle. Quite a feat, because he was standing on one foot with one raised and a mock scared expression on his face. "Come on, Cody. Stop being an idiot." Athenry ordered. Something was weird. Everything about Cody was perfectly still. Even his hair didn't move in the wind. In fact, there wasn't any wind at all. And not even the water was moving. It wasn't flat. It was ocean water so there were mountains and valleys. But it was like, it got stuck in mid wave.

"Cody?" She asked, then louder "Cody!" Worry crept into her voice "What's wrong with you?!" She asked with a slight whimper. She tried shaking him, but he wouldn't move. "Cody! Cody! Stop!"'

She heard he named called all of a sudden, and she looked up. Who was that? Some grown up? A motion in the sky caught her eye. Her jaw dropped when she saw a black scar appear on the blue canvas. Objects started to fly out of the wound and out into every direction- too small to make out at first, but as they drew closer Athenry saw creatures with bat wings and claws. They didn't look anything like bats Athenry had seen before.

"Cody! Cut it out and run! Some crazy insane rabid bats are flying around!"

Hearing the sound of her voice, a group of about a dozen of the creatures made a bee-line to her. "Cody! Cody!" Athenry screamed, panicking now. The bats came closer- frightfully closer. Finally Athreny gave up on Cody and did what her instincts had been aching to tell her to do- she ran! She ran up the length of the beach, looking back once and seeing that the mutant bats were ignoring her frozen friend in favor of catching her. Unfortunately she had waited far too long to flee and the creatures caught up with her, placing their oversized claws on her. They were a lot bigger and uglier than normal bats!

"No, no! Let me go! What do you want?" As many of them placed their claws on her and flapped their wings, Athenry's body began to raise up from the ground and she let out a scream that turned into a sobbing wail as she realized that she these creatures were going to eat her!

"Athenry!" Someone called again, then "Gatling Missles!" Two fast things streaked within inches of her, knocking a bunch of the bats holding her out of the air. Athenry fell, and she screamed for a second, but she hadn't been that far off the ground to begin with. But for some cuts on the rocky ground, she was unhurt. However more bats were flying around her. Athenry crawled to escape from them. They seemed to be more focused on something other than her.

Athenry got to the lee of a large boulder. Going further would entail moving, which could get the giants bats' attention, so she stayed where she was.

"Lightning Blade!" Who was that over there? Was somebody actually fighting these things? Athenry hazarded a look, but the bats were too thick in the air now. If someone was there, all Athenry could see was blue and gray fur and leathery wings. She glanced in the other direction, where the bats were less thick, and where she had left Cody. She saw, to her horror, that he immobile friend was being swarmed too! Athenry's heart clenched, then she ran out into the open. She'd batter their brains out before they hurt him!

    "Athenry! No!"

    ***

Andromon had started out strong, but the demidevimon and vilemon had swarmed around him, becoming too much of a problem. It was rare that he could get an attack out, but for the most part it was all he could do to hold a defensive position. He couldn't do it forever, but if he could only hold out until backup arrived, he would show these virus digimon a thing or two. At least they weren't focusing on his partner right now. The machine-man digimon eyed the rock where the young girl had hidden herself. Just stay there Athenry... he thought.

So he to say that he was dismayed when the girl ran out into the open was a bit of an understatement. "Athenry! No!" The movement got the attention of some of the virus digimon, who swooped in after her. Andromon knew he had to move, so the machine-man digimon called out a large Lightening Blade attack, dematerializing the vilemon and demidevimon directly in front of him. Capitalizing on this, he sprinted. However, other flying digimon moved in to fill the space, and his body was swarmed again. Andromon ignored them and he tried to catch up with the foolish girl, but the small digimon worked at his exposed wires with their claws and pulled them out. Now most of his circuitry was able to rewrite itself within few seconds, but these many connections lost in so short of time, his body began to fail and it initiated it's self destruct sequence.

"Damnit," he hissed, and leapt into the air- away from Athenry. The swarm followed him. I'm going out, but I'm taking these virus digimon with me!

    ***

There was a flash of light and a kaboom. Athenry was knocked off her feet and once again onto the rocky ground. After a few seconds, she looked up cautiously.

The bats were gone. Those on the beach, anyway. Even the ones by Cody had disappeared. But there still some up in the air, and over other parts of town. More will come. Athenry realized.

Something fell into the water near her- something big. Athenry jumped, started, before getting a look at the thing. It was metal and it was rounded. And it groaned.

Not a groan of metal on metal. It groaned, in pain, with a voice that was very human. This was confusing to Athenry, until she though that maybe someone was trapped in that thing. She ran to it, her sneakers getting soaked with seawater. She only got up to her ankles in water before she was to it. She crouched and turned it over, finding it surprisingly light.

    "Ow," it groaned "my gears..."

Indeed, it had gears. Actually, it was a gear. A giant golden gear with a dark gray plate and a two other gears on the side. And it had...a face. On it's gray plate, it had a face with a zigzag mouth and two red, metallic eyes.

"Who are you? Where am I?" The gear asked. I gasped when it saw the small cuts on Athenry's hands and legs "You're leaking oil!"

But Athenry wanted her own question answered "Were you the one who tried to save me from the bats?"

"Was I?" The gear asked, surprised. "I don't know." Then "Who is me?"

An odd response, and it didn't satisfy Athenry. She heard a sickeningly familiar flap of wings and looked up to see hundreds of bats coming toward them. There were two types. There were the blue ones with red claws and, the uglier type, gray bats with arms and legs and huge, toothy maws. "Oh no! What are we going to do!?" She exclaimed.

"Hey, who are those guys?" The gear sounded really confused. Suddenly, the earth shook, and the ground opened up underneath herself and the gear. Once again Athenry fell, but this fall was a much longer fall.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Smack.

Well, there went the third alarm clock this month... Mom was going to flip. Rolling onto his face, he shook his head and closed his eyes. Last day before school started... Shoot. What to do... What to do... Doing a barrel roll out of the bed, Kita found himself flopped on the floor with the blanket wrapped around him. Rolling more, he slowly unraveled himself like a roll of toilet paper. That is a lot of rolling. Anywho, crawling to his feet, he shook his head and looked around. His arm kind of hurt now. Well, today was already winding up to be a great day. Turning on his heels, he popped open the closet and grabbed some clothes. The usual crap, hoodie, wristbands... Blech. He hated those things. They got so itchy sometimes... But eh, in honor and all. Rest in piece. Or pieces. Whatever.

Opening the bathroom, he did the typical bathroom activities, which, I don't think I need to get into to much because seriously, private information. You know, bladder, shower, brushin- Wow, I do not know when to stop typing. Tossing on his clothes without even using the towel, he tossed himself back into his room, searching for his backpack. Today, he would have to figure out something to do... He tossed open his dresser, digging for his notebook. He flipped through the pages and read quietly to himself as he did so.

All the usual stuff he did. Talking to friends, pranking people, hanging out at the skate park- Oh, right. He had to finish his painting. Grabbing his backpack from the table, he tried to think of what he would need. He grabbed his spray paint cans, 5 in all, blue, red, green, yellow, purple, as well as his lighter, his Swiss knife, and... A snack. Right. Tossing the pack over his back, he trotted downstairs and opened up the cubard in the kitchen. Not a lot to eat today... Would have to talk to mom about grabbing some grub. Taking some ramen from the bottom shelf, he tossed it in his pack with a water bottle and headed outside. Wow, was pretty warm today. Maybe he should have left the hoody... Oh well.

    ----------------------------------------------------

Well, here he was. The 'wall'. A massive wall of an office building, with his half finished project 'projected' on the side. It was crude, but it looked good. For now, at least. It needed work- And Kita knew exactly what to do. Grabbing a can out of his backpack, he quickly got to work, spraying the wall quietly and happily. It was rare that the boy was happy like this- Usually, he was moping around, sad, or doing something dastardly and mean. This was his... Way of expressing himself. Spraypainting. Tagging.

About 5 or so minutes into his work, the ground began to shake. An earthquake? Kita nearly tripped, having just barely caught himself on the wall, before looking around with amazement. Earthquakes... Crap. He slid down and sat on the ground, waiting out the tremor as his eyes scanned the area, half in fear, half in curiosity. When it was over, he slowly stood up, balancing himself on the wall.

"Well that was exciting..." He muttered, shaking his head and turning back towards his work. Wait. He saw something. He double took. What the- Were those... Bats? Kita put his hand to shield his eyes as his brain zoomed in for him. No... Those... Were not bats. Oh god. Grabbing his backpack, he Immediately went into hide mode. By that I mean he nearly knocked down the office door and barged his way in. He was greeted, not oddly enough, by an unmoving, still frame secretary.

"Bats. Monsters. HELP." Was all Akita could say as he ran past the desk. He had to hide somewhere, but where? Anywhere? No, somewhere. Bathroom, ahead. Females. Screw it, going in hot!

He bashed through the door, slamming it closed behind him as he tried to calm himself down. Okay, so, this is the end of the world then. Crazy bat creatures in the skies, killing people, doing... Bat things. Alright, he could roll with that. He shook his head and closed his eyes.

"Ya know, running is the cowards way out in most cases." An odd voice said, grabbing the attention of Kita. It was... Some weird... Crazy... Monster thing... Oh god. He tried to scream, but the words wouldn't come out.

"I give up. Just... Just kill me and get it over with." He said with a shake of his head, sliding down the bathroom door and onto the floor everybody walk the dinosaur. No point in running, the outside was probably just filled with bat creatures that would eat him anyways.

"Kill you? Geeze, I know I look tough but cmon, I'm your partner, buddy!" The odd creature said, hopping over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder. Kita's eyes shot open, and he looked up at the creature once again.

"Plus, we gotta get outa here, with these tremors who knows when this place is coming down! Follow me!" The creature said, grabbing the boy by the hand and helping him up. Kita... Didn't know why... But for some reason... He trusted this small animal. Following its lead, it popped open a ventilation shaft and crawled in. Well, worse ways to escape, Kita supposed as he hopped up as well, crawling into the cramped shaft.

"Oww...my head...what hit me ??? Jason mumbles to himself as he rubs his head. As soon as Akira said he could go pick out some new clothes Jason took off and headed straight for....the toy section. She wouldn't notice if Jason took a little detour besides it wouldn't take him five seconds to pick out a shirt. No sooner had he arrived at the toys did the tremors hit. It was as if God himself was punishing him for disobeying his sister. As Jason looks behind him he finds what had landed on him,a large cardboard box. As Jason inspects the box,a thousand ideas of what could be inside fills his head as his curiosity begins to grow. Comics, video games, action figures, Jason can't resist the urge anymore as he opens the box and finds....Legos ????
Although larger than any he'd ever seen. However, there was something....off about these blocks. First off, there were no company logo anywhere on them. Secondly, since when did toy building blocks come with eyes ??? Right there,on both sides of the block were a pair of eyes. The strange thing about it was how the eyes looked. Like they were really staring at you...with a kind & gentle stare as it....blinks !?!?!? Jason drops the toy block out of surprise as it falls back into the box. The cardboard box begins to rattle and shake as the Lego pieces begin to come to life. Each of the pieces begin to jump out of the box all by themselves as they begin to create something. First it was the feet, then the legs and body, with the arms and head last the transformation was complete. There stood before Jason a large, living, plastic, mini dinosaur !!! "This...this...this is...AWESOME !!!!" Jason yells as loud as he can. "I have to show Akira, she won't believe it !!! Come on let's go !!! " Jason says as he pulls/drags the Toy Agumon to Akira.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

Burgamon's little legs scurried along out the shop door pulling Rhoda with them, "Burgamon, Stop! I can't afford these clothes!" Rhoda cried. Rhoda gasped as she saw the condition of Main Street. An enormous crack in the tar stretched right up the road and not an inch of the sky could be seen due to the tremendous number of virus Digimon cluttering it. Gobsmacked, Rhoda forgot all about the clothes she was wearing and allowed Burgamon to lead the way to the coast of the town.

Running up the sandy coast, Rhoda could make out a large metallic clockwork man stood next to a gaping crevice. As the pair neared Clockmon he made no effort to greet them. "Are you ready Rhoda?!" Burgamon shouted.
"Ready for what?!" Rhoda replied. Burgamon rose into the air attempting to jump into the crevice, Rhoda startled by this pulled back breaking contact with Burgamon but was subsequently whacked straight into the hole by Clockmon's hammer.

Rhoda awoke in a cavern next to the unconscious body a young redhead feeling dizzy and disorientated. The tunnel was lit by luminescent lights much like the ones you get on a subway train. A soldier like march could be heard nearing them.

The pair popped out of the vent on the other side of the wall, and in a dash they ran to hide behind a wall.

"So, do you have a plan here, or did you just drag me out here to die?" Kita said to the strange creature, trembling a bit.

"Uhm... Well, whats the fastest way to the coast?" The creature suddenly asked him, raising his eyebrow as he tilted his head towards Kita.

"The... Coast..." Kita muttered, still trembling. He was scared, but... No. He had to be strong. He had to calm down. End of the world, no problem. He had to su-

Suddenly, a dart flew past Kitas face, shot directly from one of the odd bat creatures that were fluttering around. Shit. Alright, thinking time is over, action time. He pivoted on his heels, and, without a single thought besides 'run', he grabbed his 'partner' and dashed across the street. A flurry of the odd beasts were following them, and Kita had no choice but to dart into the alley way.

"Hey, let me go, I can run on my own, buster!" The creature under his arm said. Without thinking about it, he dropped the creature without a word, and watched the small animal thing run even faster then he was down the alley.

"Cmon, this way! Oh, and I was supposed to tell you before, but I'm Impmon!" The impmon finished, taking a turn just a few meters away. Kita made a mental note of it and chased him down the street, avoiding more of the odd critters darts from behind.

After a few minutes of running, it seemed the pair had avoided the tiny monsters of death and destruction. Panting wildly, Kita put his hands on his knees and looked over to the Impmon.

"What... What are those things. What are you?" He asked, wiping some sweat from his brow.

The Impmon, no worse for the wear, smiled and gave a thumbs up. "As I said before, names Impmon, your partner. Everything else I'll have to explain later, we gotta get to the coast." The Impmon responded with a nod.

"Well, I don't exactly have a reason not to trust you... I think I know the way from here, come on." Kita said, shuffling his backpack on his back and poking his head out. The weird bat things were everywhere. He pulled his head back in, grabbed a rock, and tossed it as far as he could. It bounced off a wall, and the bat creatures looked towards it. Well, he wasn't expecting that to work, but...

He darted across the street, the distraction providing just enough time for the pair to escape undetected. The rest of the trip was rather uneventful, if not tiring, as he sprinted to the beach. Then he saw the metal man and the crevice in the distance.

"Come on, chump, we gotta get in that hole!" The Impmon said, running towards the metal man.

"What, are you crazy? Impmon? Impmon!" Kita yelled, but it was futile. Impmon wasn't coming back. Looking behind him, he realized more of the bat creatures had spotted him, and were now running after him. Between a rock and a hard place, he had only one way to go- Straight for the crevice. Running down the beach, he dived straight into the crevice, ignoring everything behind him. His breath fell from his lungs, and in the pitch black, he was gone.

...Or was he. His eyes flickered open, and above him, he could see a dim light. A... Cave. Was this the hole? Had he survived the fall? He checked his body, looking over each limb, before sighing in relief. He was alive, and everything was there. But impmon was nowhere in sight, it seemed. Looking around, he suddenly spotted a small girl.

"Where... Are we...?" The boy said quietly, half not wanting to startle the other child, half completely confused.

The crack appearing under them was alarming for both. Some protective instinct kicked in, and he maneuvered his gear body under the flailing creature. It was all he could do, really, as he was unable to fly back upward. The creature held on to him for dear life. One hand was gripping one of his cogs, and the over was on another handhold she could find, which was his eye socket. It didn't hurt him, because his eyes were made of metal. They fell until the crack they had fallen through had become very small. They fell until they passed through a sort of barrier, and then they both blacked out.

    ***

Going between worlds was not easy for any being, and most fell unconscious when they did so. Between worlds. For that was what they had just done, he and this strange creature. He knew this much. A pity he did not know his own name.

The Metal One awoke before she did- probably because he was stronger than her. They were in an enclosed area- a cave underground. I must get up. A survivor's mantra- never stay in one place for too long. Despite knowing nothing, he had muscle memory, or rather, machine memory. He knew how to stand up, in his own way. He did so, and discovered he could fly. Well, it wasn't flight, but he was floating about half a meter above the ground on a kind of magnetic field. He could extend the field and "stand" twice as tall, but in this low cave, he did not need to do so, more concerned he was with what was on the ground than what was in the air.

There where three other beings in the cave with them. How strange they seemed- their skin unprotected by fur, metal, or scales. Unlike him, and yet that wasn't a bad thing. One of the creatures he singled out at the one he had fallen with. The one with the red hair. She was known as...he drew a blank. But she was hugely important in any sense. He knew, somehow, that he had put a lot of effort into finding this person...he just couldn't remember what kind of effort he had put in.

She was sprawled out on the cave floor in front of him. The Metal One saw that she was still leaking the red oil and, alarmed, he looked about himself. He scraped some mud off the floor with his gear hands, which could separate from his body and send a few meters, but were always drawn back by an invisible force, so he didn't have to worry about loosing a gear or anything. He gently placed some mud on the unconscious girl's wounds, stopping the oil. He was aware that it probably wasn't the best solution, but for now, it would have to do.

He looked floated briefly over the bodies of the other two. They were not as important to him personally as the red-headed creature, but his conscience wouldn't let him ignore these if they too needed help. They didn't need help as much, as it turned out, suffering from a few discolorations of the skin, but no wounds that he could see.

All this time he had been looking over the weak creatures, he had been aware of the sound of coordinated footsteps- first far away, but getting closer. But were these footsteps coming toward them, or were they under them, or beneath? And if they were heading in his direction, whose bodies were they connected to?

These questions were on his mind as the armorless creatures began to stir. First, the more petite one, who he knew right away was the female. She seemed shocked, looking at her surrounding and at the red haired girl before saying anything. The bigger one, the male, was a bit more animated. He checked his limbs to see if they were still there- a ritual that The Metal One found a little comical for some reason. Then he asked a question that The Metal One did not have an answer to, so he preceded to ignore the male and listen to the nearing footsteps.

His creature finally did wake. She looked around herself, shocked, sat up, and pulled her knees to her, hugging them. She looked over the cave with big eyes, and then those eyes found him. Feeling on the spot, he felt he needed to speak "Do not be scared." He whispered.

"You too, eh?" Akira responded to a very startled looking Jason as he showed his sister his new discovery. It seemed he had some strange creature with him too, only his looked more mechanical, almost like a toy. "We need to get to somewhere safe though, get your sister so we can get out of here." she added, noticing the tremors were getting larger. Something very bizarre was going on. She noticed that nobody else was reacting to them. Was she the only one who could feel it?

"We need to get to the coast, Akira." Akira looked down and again heard a voice. It was Elecmon and he was telling her to get to the coast, but why? Wouldn't that be dangerous in an earthquake? "Just trust me. Bring Jason too."

"Al...alright if you insist." Still Akira somehow felt she could trust this little guy so she felt she had to obey him. She couldn't wait anymore so started running towards the door. "Jason, you two can meet me at the coast! Little Elecmon here wants me to follow him!" she shouted out specific instructions to the others before running out the front door.

It wasn't far to go, but Akira felt as if they were getting closer to the tremors. Just then she saw some dark creatures up in the air. They didn't look like anything she had ever seen before. They were like bats, only more vicious looking and they were flying right towards Akira! "Jamming Thunder!" Akira noticed a surge of electricity hitting the bat-like creatures and knocking them to the ground. The blast of electricity had come from Elecmon who was now standing in front of her. "Want more?" he began growling as the creatures whimpered on the ground.

"I do have to admit that was pretty cool...Elecmon." Akira smiled at the little guy before finding herself falling into a dark hole. Everything had froze around her and she just started falling. She began to panic, not knowing what was going on whatsoever. Plus the others... They were still out there alone with little bat-like creatures flying around. This fall was unavoidable though so she just shut her eyes and hoped for the best. Maybe Elecmon would save her again.

Akira had landed with a thud in a forested area. It was clearly not any place she recognized either. "Elecmon, where are we? Do you know?" she asked, looking beside her finding a slightly banged up Elecmon. He clearly took quite a beating during the fall.
