Brief History: born in Croydon, London, England, he lived there all of his life. he was always obsessed with Hero's all of his life, he had a poster of Captain Britain hanging in his room, aged 14, his life was perfect, he had just finished school, he had a nice girlfriend, parents that loved him, a steady job... and then one night was stabbed to death. well that's normally when the story would end, but then the Black Lanterns attacked London and several dead heroes and Hero potential beings were chosen by the the White Lantern Force, they were resurrected and given White Lantern Rings to fight them with. after the battle, the White Lanterns were vicotrious and were allowed to live on.
James went home to find that his parents had moved away to... he had no idea where, his Girlfriend was happily married and his friends had moved on from his death. James knew that staying would only hurt everyone, so he slunk away. he sat on the bank of the Thames and thought up his next move, he looked at the Ring, immediately he blamed it for everything. he knew that the White Lantern Force must have let him die to make him it's pawn. swearing that he would never be its pawn, that he would do what he wanted to do, he threw the Ring into the river, but then he felt something in his pocket, the Ring had returned to him. he decided to become a Hero like Deadman. but refused to use the Ring, he went out and searched for a way to power himself up, in his searching, he found a Korugaran using a Blue Beetle Scarab whose mind had been taken over by the Reach, after defeating them using his Ring, he dislodged the Scarab and was approached by a member of the Green Lantern Corps who told him all about the Scarab, that they infected their hosts mind and made them into homicidal monsters, but apparently there was one person who had managed to use it to be a hero, by finding a way to stop its homicidal tendencies.
this appeared to be everything that he had been waiting for, he Jumped the Green Lantern and knocked him out, he then took the Scarab home and pried it open using his Ring. he then say that it had a primary power center that also worked as a sort of brain for it. he installed the ring into it and chanted the White Lantern Oath. (there is no actual White Lantern Oath, so i made one up)

the Scarab turned white and he attached it to himself. the Scarab immediately tried to make him homicidal, but the Ring stopped it from making him do anything that he didn't want to. although for the first few months, this simply gave him a little bit of control, after a few years, the Scarab developed a personality, much like Jaime Reyes' had. he now uses it in the fight against crime.
Powers:
Blue Beetle Armor (this gives him access to numerous powers including)
Superhuman Strength (can lift about 10 tons over his head)
Peak Human Agility (has athletic abilites that are slightly better than moth Atheletes.)
Environmental Protection (allows for the user to survive in even the harshest of environments, such as the Vacuum of space, high radiation areas, and even atmospheric re-entry.)
Weapons Creation (can transform itself into whatever weapons that Thomas wants. these are things like energy cannons, melee weapons (Maces, swords, etc.) shields and most anything he can think of)
Wing Shields (The armor can create a pair of wings, enabling Thomas to fly and hover. They can also double as shields, should the need arise. they can also become twin Jet Engines for flying at incredible speeds, but sacrifices maneuverability)
Energy Manipulation (The Scarab can shape and manipulate the energy it stores for a variety of effects, including energy blasts, energy cocoons, small-scale solid constructs (shields, chains, etc.), and 3-D holograms.)
Antagonist Adaptation (The armor can tailor its blasts for use against specific opponents (e.g., Kryptonite radiation against a Kryptonian, suppression blast against a mob).)
Energy Bubble (The armor is able to create a temporary energy bubble around Thomas and/or people nearby. The bubble shields those inside from outside attacks, but prevents them from leaving.)
Protection from Mind Control (if he were to fall prey to anything that might alter his mind, the Scarab can assume full control over the armour and will proceed to eliminate the source of the Mind control.)
but whether the Armour is on or off, it has the following abilities
Tracking Systems (The Scarab can track anything which produces energy, be it biological, technological or mystical. It can track anyone Thomas met since it bonded with him, from at least seventy miles distant. however, due to its non-scientific properties the scarab finds great difficulty in tracking Magic users. it's also unable to track people through strong Magnetic fields.)
Symbiotic Synaptic Interface (The Scarab's nervous system is bonded to Thomas', letting the two share their thoughts and emotions.)
Scarab Mindlink (The Scarab can mentally communicate with Scarabs that have not integrated with a host)
Translation (the Scarab translates every language into something comprehensible to him, although he did spend several years in school learning french, so it will sometimes accidentally translate everything into French. also, if Thomas asks it to do so, it will translate everything he says into whatever language he wants.)
however, whilst not in the armoured form, he is still just a human, and can be killed by anything that would kill a human, however, if the Scarab senses a possibly hazardous situation, it will transform him with or without his consent.
The Scarab is also confused by magic, although it can absorb and distribute magical energy, it is unable to analyse it.

Weaknesses:
whilst not in his armour, he is human, for all intents and purposes, he can be killed in anyway that a Human can be killed.
Magic confuses the beetle, so coming up with a defence against it is hard.
