Abridged style magical girl hilarity?

I was watching a lot of abridged series on YouTube lately, poking fun of certain anime, and the Sailor Moon Abridged series seems like a fun one to create a roleplay out of. I'll create my own "plot" for this, heavily borrowing stuff from the genre we'll be parodying and maybe throw some Dragon Ball abridged inspired stuff in as well. It could be really funny if, well, enough funny people want to join this. If not then we can do a more serious one with occasional nods to the parody stuff but not make it overbearing. To make the parody version work the best we probably need weird characters, but one or two could be the average joe grounded in reality who points out how crazy the whole situation is, but nobody listens (to comedic effect).

The main plot is that the big bad (we'll never see his face for a while and he'll just be sitting in the darkness most of the time) is commanding a brother/sister team of evil doers who're trying to help him take over the world by sending out monster minions to do their dirty work. Their main goal to accomplish this feat is to steal away the 12 Crystals of Power; Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Pink, White, Black, Bronze, Silver, Gold. These crystals, when in the hands of their destined owners (all of them girls besides Bronze, Silver, and Gold), transforms her (or him) into a super powered magical girl (or guy. Don't worry. They don't need to wear frilly outfits...unless you want to). The crystal itself can transform into a cute and cuddly mascot creature. An example is I create a guy who has possession of the bronze crystal. I'll come up with his character and what the bronze crystal mascot character will be like, role playing as both of them unless you allow someone else to do so. To be funny, maybe the guy is timid/kind but the cute looking mascot is some evil/loud jerk who pranks him, but nobody believes it's the mascot doing all that bad stuff. Not all of the people who have the Crystals of Power are good, but some of us will form a team (or multiple teams). Also, while these magical girls/guys have the potential to be the most powerful humans in the galaxy, you can have magical powers otherwise, be a monster, or whatever. However, like the Dragon Ball abridged, you'd be like a Yamcha to our super sayans after our powers start to upgrade, or at best a Piccolo.

A possibility for the parody or serious version, although it's kind of parodying super saiyans now that I remember it right but I also have used it seriously, is that the magical girls/guys have different suit levels. Each gets more powerful but using up more energy to transform and maintain the transformation. The first/weakest suit would be like a standard magical girl uniform with the skirt and such, then the next powerful transformation could be a cooler looking version with a dress instead or something, then the third suit level would be a suit design totally unique to them that looks super cool and imposing. It's very hard to work their way up to the third suit level. Another possibility that would only work for the parody version is something that gets us back to life, like a Dragon Ball Parody, but it's a rainbow colored mascot character that grants wishes when all the Crystals of Power are joined. That way we can blow up an entire city, die in dark humor ways, but get back to life so we don't have to worry about it.

So what do you think? Should we make this into a parody or be more serious? If this gets off the ground then I might be Pink, the supposed leader. She seems innocent enough at first but has occassional morbid, sadist, or other unpleasent tendencies that come out of the blue.

I actually really like the idea of a semi-humorous, semi-serious sentai team RP, just to invoke all of the really fun cliches that come with the territory.

I have a few ideas for characters that I could play.

Red, which would really just be a shameless Cutie Honey rip-off. Voluptuous and mischievous "Warrior of Love" that takes her clothes off far more than is necessary.

Black, both the most popular among the public of the girls, and the strongest in terms of brute physical strength; possesses incredible bloodlust that if not sated in battle, makes her take out her pent-up frustration on her team-mates (in a variety of ways).

Violet, who would be incredibly vulgar and threatening toward everyone except her chosen crush, towards which she is as sweet and cute as can be.

Or Gold, a "Man among Men" who is thoroughly convinced that he is the hero of the story, but despite his illusions of grandeur is a highly-competent member of the team.

While I have nothing at all against your ideas, it will be up to the people who chose their color to be how they want. They can obviously still take your suggestion if they desire.

By the way, here's some more important plot elements:
1) This will take place in Japan (obviously, given the nature of the roleplay). However, there's nothing stopping your character from being a foreigner.
2) Your mascot character accompanying you must go back into crystal form and get into your possession so that you can transform. Therefore, both you and him/her can't be using their powers at the same time in most circumstances. There may be a special technique to split you and the companion (a more serious term then mascot) once transformed, but only for a brief moment.
3) I can add more colors if enough people are interested. Platinum can be added for the male characters. For the girls...I'm not quite sure which color to chose from yet, but there are plenty of options.
4) Would it be funny if you have to do a certain dance while transforming or else it won't work? Some characters might have to do silly looking things. However, due to this only working for a completely parody driven roleplay, I doubt I'll include this rule for even a semi serious version, which is the most likely version I'm going for.
5) All anime cliches can be used, not just magical girl ones. I'm sure Super Sentei/Power rangers, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, (those being the easiest targets that most roleplayers would understand) and many more will be included to some degree.
6) Not really a statement, but a question. How do you guys feel about bringing characters back to life?
