    Question RP Genres

A quick survey of various preferred RP types for players. Feel free to discuss the kinds of RPs you prefer as well.

Me, I prefer original fantasy and sci-fi, often in settings of my own creation. I am a worldbuilder by nature, so I do better as a GM or co-GM with freedom to create and develop the setting than as a RPer who simply participates.

I tried to include all the key genres in the poll, but if I missed one, let me know. Also this poll is set up to allow multiple choices, so please check all that apply to you.

So many poll threads recently. Yeesh. Still appreciate though.

My List: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Modern, Supernatural, Mystery, Nation-Building, Romance, Original, Casual, Advanced.
    Main Genres: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Modern.
    Sub-Genres: Supernatural, Mystery, Romance.
    Sub-Types: Nation-Building, Original.
    Levels: Casual, Advanced.

    To explain quickly.
Main Genres: The genres which attract me most, which I will join.
Sub-Genres: The genres which can be interesting, but which will not stand alone well enough to interest me generally.
Sub-Types: Play types, not really genres in the same sense that the previous ones adjust the story, whereas these adjust how the RP is progressed. Nation RPing and Original RP's.
Levels: The levels at which I play. (1x1, free, casual, advanced, arena.)

My favourites tend to be historical and fantasy. I will join other things, but only if they have an intriguing plot. I'm generally not picky about roleplaying partners and will usually try everything at least once. Well except for fandoms using canons or anything involving weird fetishes such as adult babies. I also do all my roleplays at either the casual or advanced levels.

I realize I forgot to include historical, horror, and arena on the poll. With so many different genres out there, it's easy to miss a few!

So far it seems Fantasy and Advanced are the popular choices. Fantasy I expected, but I'm surprised how many Advanced RPers, and how no one has yet chosen Free.

Perhaps it has a lot to do with the type of people who check this discussion forum. The people I see posting here do tend to take writing a bit more seriously than a lot of the people who stick to Free and Casual.
