    Salem Based Role Play *Witches/Vampires/Gothic*

    It's an alternate dimension. Colonists from another world, the Old World, England, Spain and other countries have settled in the New World and befriended the natives there. This is Salem, much larger than the historical Salem, with more danger lurking in the midsts. Witches are real, so are werewolves, vampires and other supernatural threats and even allies. Change He has settled California, and China already possesses some of the New World, so there will be other possible characters based on Chinese fable/folklore as well, the Spanish are to the South, as well.

    There will be different characters during the witch trials, and things will be even more dangerous than the real world witch hunt. I might look up characters from the Crucible and add some of the original caste to this as well. There are Witch-Hunters, as well as Witches, and Vampire Slayers, etcetera, as I have said earlier. Providence is settled by the Quakers, a mysterious sect of Christianity that allows freedom of religion, in Rhode Island. . . You can go there if you end up persecuted.

    For now though, you can play a Native, another member of a rival Colonial Power, one of the Puritans, and various races. You can be a villain, hero or walking the line, but you all must come to some agreement with one another to combat the invisible threat that is hunting both the mortal Humans and YOU, should you not be Human your'self.

    Totaly interested. What techbiques are available to hunters etc.? Is it pure spike throuh heart thing or you have spells etc.?

    This sounds quite interesting but I would like to know more how the supernatural will work in your game.

    oh yeah, you got my interest dude =3 I've got plenty of character ideas already >=3 i mean LOADS, heheh, I've actually been exploring new stuff from all that chinese folk-lore that i only started lookin through recently.

    Well, for Witchhunters, they have "divine magic" which is kind of like D&D cleric spells powered through faith. Witchhunters have a resistance to magic.

    Please elaborate? I mean, alot of the supernatural will come from different parts of the world and thus work differently.
    What I mean is how do the magick system work, what mythological elements have you applied to the vampires as in what strengths and weaknesses do they have, in general what is the metaphysics behind the various supernatural elements of your game?

    That seem slike a question who's answer would be on a case to case basis between different species, and what region of the world they come from, to my knowledge there's, for instance, a fair different between american style werewolves, and irish, and english, and a chinese version, and so on XD

    On a side note, will multiple characters be allowed? =3 I have an idea for one character who I intend to be one of the 'creatures', i just haven't decided which XD but also another that may be a bit cliche and inspired by a 'game' called 'salem' as well, it's a little processor heavy flash game that I could never finish beating, but in short, It was hilariously fun because it had a young demon slayer who ended up with an adorably funny yet also kinda badass little demon thing for a partner helping him take down other demons.

    So we are going directly by the myths and legends surrounding various creatures here? So a vampire will be taken from the various folklores and not from Hollywood for example?

    Oh, a fair question actually.
    For witches (both male and female) magic is an expression of their inner nature, but it's difficult to determine if a witch is good or bad just based on their magical spells and effects, even for the most Saintly among them. It's also possible for a witch to make a connection to an entity, such as "familiar spirits", "fae", "demons", "angels" or even "dragons" among others. Witch'es magical effects can be anything the witches in Salem were accused of, such as using a spell to make someone fall down by loosing their balance, causing roots to grow suddenly from the ground to grab you, to speaking with the Devil himself (quite a powerful spell though). Finally, the actual powers of a witch can vary quite a lot, from being able to conjure lightning bolts (real lightning bolts are very hard to control, but electrical bolts looking like lightning bolts is somewhat easy), controlling the weather to some degree (hard) to even raising zombies/skeletons. Note that in the 1600's, and beyond, which is this setting, witches don't need to be wimps that hide behind stronger warriors, it just makes sense for them to since their power is generally more useful at long range.

    As for Vampires, there are different generations of vampires, they grow stronger and develop more powers as they mature, and have been around for at least since ancient Sumeria. Sunlight kills weak vampires, doesn't effect the weakest among them, causes great harm to powerful vampires, and then does very little damage to most vampire lords and masters, and finally, the most powerful vampires can even suffer for very long periods of time in the sunlight with almost no harm.

    Garloch works as a ward and poison against vampires, if ingested, garloch can cause them to slip into a coma. Metal objects inserted through vampire's hearts CAN Kill them, even bullets if enchanted somehow. There are many techniques for fighting vampires, actually, and although most of them work, vampires still have the strength, speed and magical powers and resilience that vampirism has given them.

    As for metaphysical powers and how they work in general, all supernatural power generally comes from a patron, but not all with supernatural powers have to necessarily work for one.

    So we are going directly by the myths and legends surrounding various creatures here? So a vampire will be taken from the various folklores and not from Hollywood for example?

    Ok thank you for the information. When you get this up and running I will try to get a character thought out and post, if you have room in your game.
