    Our Legacy OOC

Almost two years ago, on the 21st of December, the human race discovered the pinnacle of medical sciences. Medical Researchers found the cure for cancer...but human error and arrogance blinded them from the truth. The animal specimens that were used to test the effectiveness of the vaccine against cancer either died three days after being cured, or were corrupted by an unexpected flaw in the cure's genetic make up. Refusing to wait any longer, the researchers rushed to mass produce the vaccine for "the good of humanity". Now, after the disease went airborne, few remain alive who are not affected by the Virus or killed by those infected. Life is harsh and food is scarce, which drives many to insanity. However, not all who are infected are feral, some have retained enough intelligence to coordinate with one another using various tools, such as guns. Along with the effected humans, animals have become victims as well; such as escaped lab rats who in turn infected other rats. The year is 2014, some time around the month of June...you are a surviver living in the Denver area, you do your labors in daylight hours and lock yourselves away at night. This is survival...this is the legend of the end of humanity...

    This is our Legacy...

    Infected enemy classes:
In this RP, I am incorporating many enemy types for a wider variety of things to fight, this list contains those enemies and any important attributes they have.

Shriekers: Vultures who were contaminated by eating the flesh of infected humans, they nolonger scavange, they prey on live humans. They are nocturnal, and will die in sunlight just like everything else. When they spot prey they let out a loud and raspy shriek, alerting the others of their flock. Numbers range from one to seven per flock.

Swarmers: Infected rats that occupy condemnable housing outlets and sewer systems. They are vicious and attack in swarms, hence the the name. They roam in hordes averaged around fifty rats, and are very quick.

Hunters: Contaminated dogs which the infected humans use as pets, usually unleashed upon their enemies in packs of two to five. They are quick, dangerous, and relentless persuers.

Infected: They are the most common of the "darkseekers", and have superhuman agility and strength. They are feral, and communicate by roars, growls, and shoving each other around. On average it can take three to four bullets to kill one, or as an alternative...the front of your car.

Lost ones: Almost looking like some sort of mutant, these types are infected children with thinner, but slightly longer limbs. They have supernatural abilities that others don't, like climbing upside down on the ceilings, or on walls. Given their climbing abilities, they can survive up to two stories of a fall without having so much as even slight injury. However they are rare, as the virus overpowered and killed most children.

Banshees: Female infected who are quicker than normal, they let out a piercing scream when attacking, but aren't any more durable. They are normally solitary, but if any other "darkseekers" hear the cry...you know the rest.

Brutes/Tanks: Appropriately named because of their strength and durability. Unlike the rest they can take up to around eight bullets, and then some. They can also survive being hit by a car going up to fifty MPH, and on the other hand can move or even overturn a car if given the chance. They have lost most of their ability to run, and therefore close in on their prey slowly before dashing to the kill.

Alphas: There is one for every thousand below him, they are faster, stronger, and as durable as a brute. They are the head at the top of the line, and that position wasn't just given to them.

Gangs: Diseased humans who've retained quite alot more intelligence than the others, yet still attack on sight. They know how to speak in complete paragraphs but do not regularly do so. They've learned how to use weapon items like knives and guns. They enjoy taunting and torturing non-infected humans.

    Character sheets:
When making your sheet, take into consideration that the military was mostly wiped out while enforcing quarantines. Remember that if you make a character who is not immune, even breathing the air can infect you, so please keep all masks on and enjoy your time in Denver! Also one more thing; any pet you have is not immune, but can not be infected by breathing the air.

    Name: James
    Age: 24
    Gender: Male
Appearance: Roughly 6'1" with a somewhat lanky build. Red hair and brown eyes. Other than those features he's pretty much just an average looking guy.
Misc: James carries a KSG and a Vietnam War era .45 caliber 1911 that he inherited from his grandfather.
Other: Aside from his weapons, James was unable to save anything from his home beyond what clothes and food he was able to quickly throw into a duffle bag and his laptop before trying to flee the city. Because of the chaos and mass panic, on top of the military quarantine, he was unable to get out of Denver. Eventually he made his way towards the center of the city on the run from small groups of infected until he met up with other survivors who had been able to hide and fortify themselves in the heart of the city.

I'm guessing not, so here's my character:

    Name: Victor Marquez
    Age: 26
    Gender: Male
Appearance: Hispanic, around 5'9" with short black hair, brown eyes and a muscular build.
Misc: Carries a M14 Designated Marksman Rifle with variable zoom scope and a Beretta M9 pistol.
Other: A former gang member, Victor knows his way around a fight, be it unarmed or armed. When the quarantines started, his gang started looting stores to, among other things, secure enough food and water. They managed to hold long enough to be rescued by the military, but when the chain of command started breaking down he found himself to be alone with a marine designated marksman. When the marine was infected, Victor had no other choice but to kill him and take his equipment to be able to survive.

Roger! I actually have this subconscious... THING that makes me always come up with underpowered characters. Wanting them to be balanced ends up with me giving them too many shortcomings.

    Character sheets:
    (User)nickname: Daisy is fine
    Name: Erin Tate
    Age: 28
    Gender: Female
Appearance: Shoulder length blonde hair, shaggy cut, lip pierced, medium build, fit though not muscular, 5'7, blue eyes, light complexion.

Misc: (Do you have a car, gun, pet, family heirloom, or piece of jewelry?) Dog named Luka, found. Gun (taken from her fathers gun cabinet.) shotgun and cartridges.
Other: (Bio, or anything else you want to type.) Wandering the city after the outbreak Erin spent a lot of time alone until she found Luka. She changed overnight (well not literally) from a daddies princess party girl who took no responsibility to a strong woman who had to learn to survive. She still lapses into self pity but she puts on a good front.

I know what you mean. So often people put these characters together and try to make them into some sort of super soldier or something, make them capable of handling anything thrown their way. I used to be part of that camp, I'm glad I left it.

I third that concept! i love making flawed characters. I once heard someone say life isn't worth living without the chance of death.. and I kinda feel like that about my characters. It gives them depth on so many levels. I love flaws.

    Name:Peter
    Age:26
    Gender:Male
Appearance:6 foot man. He keeps himself in shape, having an average build.. He has short black hair, and brown eyes.
Misc:M27 IAR, USP 9mm.He has a dog he keeps with him.
Other:He is part of the platoon that was sent first to contain the threat. Of course, everything did not go to plan. All of his platoon succumbed to the virus or was utterly destroyed by infected as they had no experience with combating this new threat. Reinforcements never came, and it turns out he was immune. But some parts of him wish he died with his friends, and survivor's guilt, and do to this he may freeze up in combat. He was surviving on his own, until he found a lone dog wandering the streets. It was a long process of leaving out food and coaxing it, but soon the dog trusted him enough to stay in his house. He feels as if the dog has experienced the same trauma as him- And treats it more like a son than a pet as a result.
