    The Most Dangerous Game

General Zaroff is a hunter, and has hunted every game in every country. But he has grown bored, making even the most dangerous of animals easy quarry. He was shooting and hunting from a toddler, and there is no animal that can escape him. Tigers, bears, buffalo... nothing is dangerous enough. There is no thrill anymore for him when he hunts. But there is still one quarry that excites the General, something that he invented to hunt. It is a quarry above anything else, because it can reason, think, feel...

Make no mistake, General Zaroff is a civilized man, who enjoys the luxuries of life. Fine wines, wonderful furs, expensive furniture. He is not a murderer, but a hunter. It is all in the joy of the hunt. He loves to play this game...

You have found yourself on the General's island, a place where ships crash, sharp rocks scale the sides of the island, and the jungle is alive with thick, overwhelming vegetation. You arrived after your ship capsized and made you and the rest of the people you were with swim and find the island in the middle of the night. As you swam forward, you heard pistol shots and a squeal of an animal that you don't recognize. You didn't try to, but its clear that where pistols are, people are too.

On the island, you have found a patch of vegetation that as laid down, seeing where an animal had fought against something. There was a stain of glossy crimson on the grass and an empty pistol shell. This had astonished you, it being clear that the animal was large, and such a quarry taken with a pistol would be an amazing feat.

You turned through the forest, seeing lights through the vegetation. Thinking that it may have been a camp or something, you followed the lights to find a beautiful home in a french chateau style. Stepping onto the deck of the home, you are greeted with a giant of a man and a long barreled pistol. As you tried to speak to the man and explain that you and your friends aren't there to rob him, a smaller, lankier man brought the giant back and invited you inside. And this is where we are now.

General Zaroff smiled. "I must apologize for Ivan, poor fellow is both deaf and dumb. He is also a little slow... the good lord wasn't very gracious upon him. I am General Zaroff, it is a pleasure to meet you all. Anyway, you folks look as though you could appreciate a change of clothes, and a good hearty meal! I don't have much for you young ladies to wear, but I'm sure we could find you something," the host explained, a red lipped smile curling across his pale, blue eyed face.

Amelia rubbed her neck awkwardly. "Thank you," she said, looking at the General's obviously Russian face. The man seemed to like hunting, by the sight of all the heads and guns mounted in the halls. "You are most generous, General," she told him, scratching her still damp scalp.

"He has a dream of a world where everyone is always laughin'... So maybe I'm crazy, but aren't we all a little crazy...in love?"

Jace remained silent, simply nodding his head. A suspicious man to begin with, he never trusted anyone, and he rarely spoke unless it was needed. He stood in the back, slightly removed, trailing behind whenever they moved. The man seemed to be keeping an eye everywhere, almost as if he expected to be shot at any second.

He lives alone on an island. He has a henchman. What the hell, this guy is like a villain out of a novel.-- No, be fair. He is being kind and friendly and offering a bunch of stranded travelers assistance. Besides, no one could ever be that cliche'. Monika didn't know what to think of him. But for now, they needed any help they could get. Nervously, she straightened her glasses, which by some miracle had stayed in her shirt as they swam to shore. She was scared, but they still needed to be polite, to extend common courtesy to a man who wanted to help them.

"Th-thank you, sir. We appreciate your hospitality. Hopefully we will be out of your hair soon," she said graciously, curtsying in what was left in her soaking wet dark blue flapper dress with only the slightest quaver in her voice.
