John wasn't paying much attention to the old man's words after that, he didn't want to leave... he didn't know what else he could do anywhere else. Pleading to stay would do him know good even if he had the courage to ask, so when the old man finished he was escorted out with all he owned to the streets of Osmogian. He had little choice here and the easy way would have been to find a corner to die on. To think about such a bleak future made him sick, he didn't want to be another one of the people who leave that home to live on the corner asking for a spare credit.
He counted out his credits and saw he had enough for at least one shuttle ride off this rock to either the nearby military base or Gregor. It dawned on him that he didn't want to be a military man with the war going on, not to mention his temper would get him kicked out moments after a drill sergeant started barking orders at him. He would board the shuttle to Gregor and see what credits he could scrape together being a package boy for one of the families.
