I forgot to add that if you're worried about like players having excessive failures that you shouldn't worry as the usage of three six sided dice results in a nice bell curve where the results are middling which; which in english means the average results are gonna be a 10 or 11 and everything before or after sloping downwards.

Also pretty sure it has to do with players being more familiar with stuff that sound like: Truncheons and Flagons and 90's: The Edgining
