Considering how much this is inspired by Warhammer, would playing as a Psyker be feasible?

Aye, have to run out but character sheets are definitely being accepted.

Like I mentioned earlier, the PCs will be serving as research or military personnel aboard the Hyperion. You may choose any profession you'd expect to be of use on such a mission, not limited to biologist, chemist, armourer, weaponsmith, archaeologist, security officer, marksman, hunter, physicist, engineer, and so forth. Be aware that I expect my players to choose professions that will be of importance on missions and that the absence of certain types of PCs will seriously damage your ability to deal with certain missions.

I have to go out and should be back in two hours so I can't make a template at the mo', so I'll just throw a little something together real quick.

Character Name: (First & last name required, extra names and/or titles are a nice bonus. I personally give my characters 3-4 names as a South American)
Profession: (Please choose a general career path such as military, engineering or research, then a specific profession, though you can leave that for later if you wish, allowing your character more growth potential.)
Bio: (Your typical breakdown of who they are at first glance followed by a more detailed summary of their backstory. You don't need their entire life story, just what makes them tick. Psychology is a love of mine so whatever you can add that will help me build a personality profile and help me find their emotional niche would be lovely.)
Traits: Choose a few major and minor personality, physical, and professional traits and I'll sort through them later

The rest is up to you.

    Be back later, cheers~

Shala is indeed correct and sort of, I will not allow Psykers from initial launch but it is quite feasible and we WILL have psykers among our crew. Its a career choice should you play as any military character, though I have a multitude of psyker magnitudes and different subtypes with radically different power and potential so we could theoretically have 3-5 PCs as nascent Psykers of different types. Psykers are quite different in my lore than that of Warhammer 40K. For example, sentients with latent psychic abilities are extremely rare and their powers become practically useless outside of certain conditions, though with the use of certain cybernetic implants and-or xeno artifacts it is possible to project the mind's will upon reality. This is more like the chronomancer from Jericho in that it follows some sort of computational pseudo-science, but its vague enough that you can adapt it to practically anything. Blunters (Null) are a form of psyker and can do far more than just prevent psychic activity... They can actively syphon psychic power and project it for example. I'll have to check my lore to see the different subtypes I've created and will definitely accept suggestions on creating your own custom psyker class(es).

We aren't yet aware that such things exist, though players interested in being alien hybrids, parasite hosts, brainwashed by organocrystalline beings from another dimension, or nascent psykers can PM me in private and we'll work out the fun details since such things will not be from initial launch but will sure as hell be introduced quite soon Those are just a few of the major ones I will definitely have going on in the RP, if you have other ideas I'll see if it works with my lore and brief you on the details

    Character Name: Thomas "Silvertongue" Cale

Profession: General career path: Political. Specific career type: Intergalactic diplomat. (I figure if we're going across the galaxy, we'll want to be prepared, no? If this is not a suitable profession, I'll figure something else out. ^.~)

Bio: Thomas was raised by his father, a senator, and thus saw a great deal of places both on planet and off. He picked up the art of negotiation at a young age, and would often spend hours debating with his father over ridiculous childhood things (like bedtimes and curfews). Much to his father's chagrin, Thomas often won these arguments, and his dad had to pull the old "Do it because I said so" card. As Thomas grew, he turned to more efficient pursuits, such as barter, law, and the art of speechcraft. That said, "speechcraft" was not a suitable college course, so he specialized in debate and diplomacy. Once he graduated college with a masters in psychology, he went on to attain numerous degrees in fields like law, language, and even a relatively new course called "Debate and the Socratic Method". After he stopped school and began seeking a job, he had a cyberneticist install a language/cipher biochip in his brain; although he already knew the world's major languages, this chip allowed him to translate any language, as well as providing a program which allowed him to decipher code/any alien languages by cross-referencing them with known languages. Although he hasn't yet had a chance to test that cipher program, he longs to. Eventually, he rose to the top of the charts in the political world. When he was offered a position on the Hyperion, he accepted immediately, and his father wished him well as he set off.

Traits: Thomas Cale enjoys arguing, and loves debate. He is manipulative and often fails to realize that other people have emotions, which he can not play with without consequence. Thomas is condescending, although he usually keeps his opinions to himself. He doesn't cut a very imposing figure, for although he is tall he is also thin. Thomas is a rather weak man; while not an invalid by any means, he doesn't have anything above mediocre strength, and has never wielded a firearm beyond basic self-defense training. He usually wears a black business suit with a black tie, and is rarely seen in casual wear. He is very professional, and rarely loses his cool in front of business associates.

Other: Thomas is very supportive of cybernetics, and is regarded by some as only partially human; he, in fact, has a grand total of seven brain augments: The language/cipher chip, one which aids in focus, one which is intended to allow for easier multitasking, one to allow for deeper, more restful sleep, one which is supposed to make him appear more charismatic when activated (it drains him of energy, and he was told that it can be lethal, so he very rarely uses it), one that allows him to easily switch between languages on the fly and increases spoken fluency, and finally the most controversial of all; Thomas has a biochip which nullifies emotional processes, rendering him, unless placed under the most extreme circumstances, emotionless. All of these augments nearly ended his career, but he managed to smooth over them and continue; however, a great deal of people still see him as a monster. If one of the people on board the Hyperion (WINK WINK ) were to share this opinion, the resulting events could be interesting...

If anything here is inaccurate/incorrect, I'll fix it ASAP. ^.^

My bad, didn't notice that part

    Name: Abraham Nightingale
    Age: 74
    Gender: Male
    Designation: PC
    Role: Civil engineer
Key Traits: Human turned android, afraid of death, naïve, regal, kind

Biography: Abraham was the first to be born from the artificial wombs carried by his seeder vessel, in consequence, he was raised by an android which would later become his companion. Abraham found love and his partner was pregnant with child by the time Altarax was reached. He sought to become a founding father of Altarax's military however his plans were cut short by a tragic incident which would shape the rest of his life:

The VTOL which carried him and Laura down to the surface malfunctioned en route and crashed killing her and severely wounding Abraham. Years of reconstructive surgery and robotic prosthetics returned his former appearance. This instilled a sense of mortality in him and thus he changed his profession and began directing the growth of Altarax's infrastructure. In secret, with the assistance of Anna Feng, Abraham continued his transition to becoming an android:

Nanobots replaced his neurons one by one, each of his internal organs were replaced with machines and his bones were made from titanium; manufactured skin which emulated it's biological alternative perfectly encased Abraham's steel cuirass. Completely human in appearance and thought but with the tools to live forever. Nobody but him and Anna knew of this.

Gradually he began to specialize in designing extraterrestrial infrastructure: several of the probes, satelites and systems on Hyperion had their design specifications decided by him. Abraham made the decision to accompany the vessel on it's maiden voyage when invited to overcome Laura's death which still haunted him, that and Anna's insistence. On board he is respected as a patriarchal figurehead.

Name: Anna Feng (formerly known as Florence AT-80)
    Age: 506,167 (activated for 76)
    Gender: Female
    Designation: NPC
    Role: Support Personal
Key Traits: Android, motherly, loyal, eccentric

Biography: Originally created to raise the first generation of colonists Anna flitted between various professions when she arrived at Altarax, she was a builder, then a mechanic, then an electrician. The only constant in her life is her connection to the first arrivers to whom she is fiercely loyal, especially Abraham. Though she is valued by them in return for her commitment subsequent generations saw her as an inferior being, perhaps out of fear, maybe even envy but regardless she wasn't welcomed by all. She joined the Hyperion's crew to distance herself from the hatred she received and accompany Abraham.

    Name: Laura Thompson
    Age: 22 (deceased)
    Gender: Female
    Designation: Canon
    Role: Fertilizer
Key Traits (whilst alive): Intelligent, proud

Biography: Laura was born upon the seeder vessel which colonized Altarax, she fell pregnant to Abraham though her and her child died en route to the planets surface.

Hmm... The problem with that comes from the fact that you won't be able to take advantage of the majority of the RP's substance since it'll be self-contained for certain plot purposes. Essentially, the Altarax government is supressing all data from the Hyperion because they do not want the people to know we've encountered hostile space-faring alien lifeforms and that the colony is under imminent danger. In truth the electromagnetic anomaly that ruined our sensor probes is a hoax: a cover-up so the colonists don't demand the collected sensor data... Not to mention the physical probes which show signs of acid-wear, organic biomass growth, and electromagnetic overloads attributed to energy weapons. Therein lies the issue... The Hyperion will most likely be declared rogue and hunted by the Altaraxian government, essentially left without a home to return to. Not to mention the Hyperion will eventually be abandoned after a massive siege by spoiler creatures when we're caught in a spoilery crossfire in an interstellar war because of all sorts of epic shit I can't discuss, though we'll find ourselves on another ship with far more advanced systems to play with.

I will definitely have PCs running colonies in the next stage of development. Right now we're in Stage 01 - Diaspora where my scifi story outlines the initial exploration of the galaxy as Humanity first encounters sentient life and faces its first enemies. Stage 00 - Genesis is the part that has passed, the lengthy journey from Earth and all the craziness that forced us to drift to the LMC. You'll find out about that during the RP, hehe. Next will be the Imperial stage where interstellar travel is commonplace and we can have PCs running colonies of their own. I have the lore and plots ready but for this particular RP I'd like to explore the early aspect before we start colonizing every corner of the galaxy.

If you have a colony bio already in mind you can PM me and we'll work out your role if you're adamant about not RP'ing a crew member. I can put you in command of a colony we find, or have you take over one of my primary NPCs so you'll have a base of operations or a few vessels to command as a marauder, xeno, or other such thing.

Hmm, depending on when Stage 02 starts could I have, like, a captain of a ship in this Stage that becomes a leader of a Colony in the next Stage? And was Stage 00 Played out anywhere?

Stage 00 was a concept-run Ash and I came up and decided to test-drive a potential new intro, which is what this RP is. My actual novel lore has an entirely different beginning steeped genemod racial wars through alien-hybridization, artificially-intelligent robotic uprisings and a nuclear war that nearly annihilates Humanity. Earth is utterly destroyed in that storyline and the story takes place on the business-end of a triuniversal conflict that spans 15 trillion years... I figured it'd be nice to try something that comes off a bit more simplistic before I blow people's minds with all the crazy shit I have planned.

No worries, you guys will discover the details of Stage 00 very soon, its what tips you off that your world government isn't exactly being honest to you.

You can do that as any crewmember, really. At some point you can be dropped off on a newborn colony world, or given control of a damaged seeder ship, left behind on a nascent human world as an ambassador, become a space pirate, or any number of things.
