    Kick-Ass

I always wondered why nobody did it before me. I mean, all those comic books, movies, TV shows. You think that one eccentric loner would've made himself a costume. I mean, is everyday life really so exciting? Are schools and offices so thrilling that I'm the only one who fantasized about this? Come on, be honest with yourself. At some point in our lives we all wanna be a superhero. In the world I lived in, heroes only existed in comic books. And I guess that'd be okay, if bad guys were make-believe too, but they're not.

Juliet walked into the comic shop where she worked. Her purple hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She wore a black tank top and a purple plaid skirt. She clocked in and stood behind the counter chewing bubble gum.

Rylan jogged around the corner with the girls track team. Her long hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail. She wore tight shorts and a sports bra.

James walked away from a construction site, just now getting off of his first shift, and got in his pickup truck to go to his 2nd shift, which was at the comic book store. On his way there, he sat his tool belt and hardhat on the passenger seat.

Juliet hopped up on the counter and sat with her legs crossed as she picked up a new comic that was on display. No one except the usual group of boys was in there and she felt comfortable enough. James, her co-worker, was due in for his shift any minute. She chewed her gum quite loudly as she continued to read. The customers around here knew to interrupt her reading if they needed something. They'd yell her name if a newcomer needed her.

In the quiet darkness of the motorcycle repair shop, the dark haired mechanist worked on his own two-wheeler and listened to the countless rock songs on his nano ipod. He didn't much care for workplace socializing and most everybody knew it, in fact he wasn't a very social kind of guy any time. Nobody knew this at first glance of course, but if they did their research, this barely put together young man was the only survivor of a brutal home invasion, his father and mother, luckily to a degree, he was an only child and now an orphan, with a twisted view on his new life.

James walked into the comic book store, slid across the counter and sat at his post at the register in a chair, with his feet propped up on the counter. He yawned as he reached back and clocked in.

Juliet looked up at James and smiled, "Not talking to me, huh?"

"You work two shifts, gorgeous. Of course you could be better," Juliet hopped off the counter and sat on the arm of James' chair. She crossed her legs, "How about we go out tonight? There's a new movie out about superheros and stuff. We both work at a comic store so we could call it work if you want. Doesn't matter to me."
