"Ah, it seems you are finally awaking."
The voice of what seems to be a man rings through your ears for a few moments as you slowly stir into consciousness. The more you survey your surroundings, the more you realize that you're not where you last slept. You find yourself buckled into a blue velvet seat. It is extremely comfortable, yet the seat-belt restricts your movement almost entirely. Despite your lack of freedom, you still feel strangely relaxed. You should be panicking; you woke up in a strange place and have no idea where you are or where you're going. However, you still remain in an at-ease, almost dream-like state. Glancing to your side, you gaze out the small window. It is hard to see, due to the lack of light, but you manage to make out the outline of a steel wing, and thick clouds surrounding it. Using your observations, you infer that you are on a plane of some sorts soaring aimlessly through the cloudy midnight sky. When you focus, you can even hear the faint, high-pitched wail of the jet engines. Why are you here? Who brought you here? Did you remember to lock the doors before you went to bed? Questions like these occasionally pop into your head as you fly in silence for what seems like an eternity.
"You seem to be handling the change in scenery quite well. You're faring better than my previous guest when he first stumbled in here."
Where did that come from? Your head quickly pivots to the seat next to you, and find that it is now occupied. Sitting comfortably in the chair next to you is a rather strange looking old man. He was clad in an expensive-looking tuxedo and had balding white hair. That wasn't really special. His most striking features by far were his huge, beady eyes and a gargantuan nose long enough to poke your eye out if he moved too quick. Expecting your reaction of surprise, he speaks, "Do not be alarmed; you are fast asleep in your world. Ah, where are my manners? My name is Igor, and welcome... to the Velvet Room."
Igor explained that the Velvet Room was its own independent dimension, hanging between the realms of dream and reality, mind and matter. He also stated that only those chosen as "guests" are allowed entry, or even know of its existence. You continued to talk to the strange man on these matters, until Igor changed the subject. "Tell me," he instructed with a conniving grin plastered onto his face, "do you believe in fortune-telling?" Despite your answer, Igor pulls a deck of 22 cards out of his breast-pocket. "Each reading is done with the same cards, yet the result is always different. I find this fascinating." The strange little man fans the cards out to you face-down. "Close your eyes and reach for a card. Let nothing but your heart and fate guide your hand." You feel complied to obey, closing your eyes and blindly extending your hand to the cards. With caution, you pull the card you feel resonates with your soul the most. After Igor's approval, you open your eyes and look at the card your heart has apparently chosen for you. You show your card to Igor, whom is smiling and nodding in affirmation. "Hmm... This is interesting, most interesting..." He seems lost in thought as he analyzed the results of the reading. You wonder why he's thinking so hard; it's just a card after all. Suddenly, Igor begins speaking again. He talked about the card you chose and its meaning, and you give him your undivided attention. Igor promised that you'd know what to do with this when the time came.
"Lastly, I must give you one warning: in the near future, you shall be issued a challenge. Rejecting it is impossible, for your fate is unchangeable at the moment. This challenge will test every quality of your soul, and I recommend you prepare yourself. It's perfectly alright if you don't understand at the moment. Give it some thought. As of now, I'm afraid your time here is almost over. You can keep your card; consider it a parting gift. Until we meet again, farewell." Without warning, the emergency door to the jet violently swung open, letting a gust of air fill the cabin. Igor seemed to have unbuckled your seat-belt when you were busy staring out into the sky, and you were flung out of the jet with great force. As you fall through the thick clouds, you can feel yourself losing consciousness and black out. The next time you opened your eyes, you were back in your bed. Was it all a dream? It seemed that way, until you notice a strange card resting beside you.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. If that little intro caught your attention, then great! Here is our lovely OOC. Practically everything you'll ever need to know regarding Persona and this RP will be posted here. Please read the whole OOC before posting.

A complete CS is a happy CS. Please refrain from posting works in progress.
If you have any ideas, feel free to tell me.
Do not tell me of your butthurt if your idea gets rejected
One Arcana per PC. Originality is fun.
No Wild Cards. If you don't know what that is, don't worry about it. I expect a good 2-3 paragraphs in an IC post.
I have the right to refuse anything for any reason. Respect my authori-tah
Have fun! That's why we're here in the first place.
Failure of following Dem Rules may result in: getting chewed out by the GM, getting chewed out by everyone else, application of the Banhammer to one's face, and if need be, Administrator action.
If you've read all of the rules, fill in the last blank of the CS with "Fsteak"
This RP takes place in Ichihara, Japan in the 2013-2014 school year. (This hider changes with the IC)
Kitamon High School: This is the school all of our PCs will be attending. The school has three grades: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years (equivalent of a sophomore, junior, and senior in American high schools). The day starts at 8:00 a.m., and ends at 4:00 p.m., with a one hour lunch break from 12 to 1. The campus composes of three buildings. The main building is four stories tall (including the basement) and is home to all of the academic classes. There is then the athletic center and the arts center respectively.
MORE UPDATES TO COME. SYSTEM IS HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL. EXPECT CHANGES
Persona works on a turn based system. One person goes, then the next, and then the next. The order of which people act is determined by the Agility stat. The actions you can perform during your turn is as follows:
Attack: Simply walk up to your opponent and whack them with your weapon of choice. This is a very weak offense, but costs nothing.
Guard: Defends yourself from an incoming assault. All damage recieved is cut in half, and weakness exploitation (see further below) is nullified.
Skill: These are your Persona's abilities. They are divided into three categories: physical, magical, and status (Healing, buff/debuff, etc.). Physical skills require HP to perform, magical and status cost Spirit Points (SP).
Item: Self explanatory. This uses an item in the character's inventory
Escape: This will allow you to leave combat. It doesn't always work though.
All parties participating in combat will PM me their move for the turn, and I'll post the results on the OOC.
Physical attacks are split into three categories: Strike, Pierce, and Slash. They are cast from HP
All magic is cast from SP. The elements of magical spells are as follows:
Almighty (locked): Strongest element. Cannot be weak or resistant to Almighty.
Light (locked): One-hit KO, but extremely innacurate and expensive.
Dark (locked): One-hit KO, but extremely innacurate and expensive
Ice: Has a chance of inflicting the Frost status (see status ailments)
Electricity: Has a chance of inflicting the Shock status (see status ailments)
Most things have weaknesses, but they never make any sense, so just guess until you get it right.
When a weakness is exploited, the receiving end of the attack gets knocked down and skips their turn, allowing the deliverer to go again. If the weakness is exploited a second time, the receiving end becomes dizzy (see status ailments).
Poison: Characters lose HP at every turn. (stops when affected character/enemy has only about 10% of total HP left), all outgoing damage is halved.
Silence: Characters cannot use skills. Silenced enemies may waste turns by trying to use skills.
Confusion: Characters turn against the party. (Enemies sometimes forfeit their turn by doing nothing or the "Waste Money" move)
Rage: Characters attack enemy automatically with increased attack power but halved accuracy and defense.
Fear: Characters are paralyzed with fear, either forfeits turn or withdraws from battle.
Exhaustion: Characters lose SP at every turn. (stops when affected character/enemy has only about 10% of total SP left). Damage taken is increased by 50%.
Enervation: All of character's stats are halved.
Down: Affected characters take increased damage, cannot evade, and exposed to attacks that may cause Dizziness.
Dizzy: Characters lose a turn.
Charm: Charmed allies will do everything they can to heal the enemy
Shock: Shock will reduce the defense of the affected and give a 100% critical hit chance
Frost: Frost will leave the affected unable to dodge attacks or spells
Age: Highschooler age; 15-18
Arcana: This is the card you drew from Igor, and it represents you the most.
Appearance: Picture preferred. Anime style. (gasp!) Please include height and weight
Personality: This is important. Show me you can write up to standards
Biography: So is this. Show me you can write up to standards
Fun Facts: Anything I failed to mention goes here. Basically any minor details that don't really belong anywhere else
Persona Appearance: Same as character appearance
Persona Skills: You may have up to eight at a time, but we're starting with three. These are low-tier attacks, by the way.
Persona Stats: You will have 20 Skill Points to start off with. Distribute them however you like among these stats:
Other: Personas are usually symbolic towards their owners, so note some if applicable
Lastly, do you know any words that start with F?

Just going to post this up to show who’s called dibs on what. Not sure if the GM’s allowing people to call dibs, but it’d probably be the nice thing to do to not steal an arcana someone’s already expressed interest in :P

Standing at 5'75 (approx. 171.47 cm) and weighing in at 150 lbs (approx. 68.04 kg), Hayley has a blonde hair that is kept messily short and cropped. She stands with an above-average, relatively muscular physique for female of her age and complete with a D-Cup bust size, a physical trait she is rather embarrassed about.
Personality: Hayley appears to be a hot-headed juvenile with no sense of order. She has little to no patience and dislikes rules and restrictions. Prone to jumping into situations without necessarily thinking about the consequences, she's aptly described as "brash and chaotic". She strives to be as independent as she could, but her violent temper tends to make more problems than she could solve at any given time. Having spent a majority of her life surviving in the street, Hayley has a no-nonsense attitude and her preferred method of dealing with problems is with her fist. Because of how tumultuous her life is, she is known to skip classes very often, but usually manages to pass her grades and never miss any assignments.
Biography: Hayley used to live a rather unassuming life as a child to a lawyer mother and a head manager father, all of whom moved from their home country when her father was promoted. Hayley adored her parents like most little girls would and was very obedient. However, after her father was laid off during a fund transfer scandal in the company he worked at, Hayley started coming home from school to see her parents yelling at each other, arguing about a lot of things. Whenever she asked them about what happened, they would always tell her that they were merely having a disagreement. She took their words at first, but the yelling became louder year after year and the arguments became more frequent. A month after being fired, Hayley started seeing her father leaving at the eve of night and returning home drunk and incoherent. On the other hand, she noticed that her mother seemed to be coming home less often. The entire debacle accumulated in a big fight one night. Hayley had just returned from a classmate's birthday party, having celebrated her own tenth birthday on the same day, when she saw her father hitting her mother with an empty beer bottle. Hayley was left stunned by what she had seen, leaving an accompanying neighbor, who had come to check on the family, to report the incident. A series of incidents later and she was left a product of a broken home as her parents divorced.
Left in the custody of her mother, Hayley spent her high school years with little to no contact with her mother whatsoever as the latter drowned herself in her legal work in the wake of the divorce. She didn't make any friends at all at high school and was bullied for her blonde hair, steely blue eyes, unimpressive grades and lack of 'family'. Loneliness and anger turned her to the streets, where she learned how to fight and defend herself, both through martial arts and what most would consider as underhanded tricks. With very few people paying attention to her, she soon started finding her thrills through illegal underground fights, both for adrenaline rush and for a way to live. Having her life shattered by the two people she looked up to and dependent upon, she promised herself that she would work to become self-reliant, rules be damned.
Sometimes pickpockets from people she deems 'sleazy'
Favorite colors are black, navy blue and orange
Has a very sweet tooth, surprisingly enough
Has a pair of brass knuckles she hides around her body
Is astraphobic (afraid of lightning)
Persona Name: Cinersi
(Picture is a Dusk Cinersi from the adoption website Magistream.)
Persona Skills: (All based of P4 in order of planned progression.)
Other: Cinersi's ferocious appearance is related to Hayley's psyche. She wishes to live as free as a bird and soars the unending, open sky, yet her past has jaded her view of life and darkened her belief, much like Cinersi's dark violet plumage. The fighting skills she acquired on the streets translate to the bird's sharp beak and strong, pointy talons. On Cinersi's chest is a gold gem, a symbol that, beneath all her cynical view of the world, Hayley still has some good in her, however hidden it is.
Lastly, do you know any words that start with F? Umm... Fsteak?
Well this looks awesome, any chance I can join in on the Persona fun?
Darkness and Light are always balanced within. When one upsets the balance, Chaos is born, the Chaos; which is what does not belong, corrupts the force that upset the balance, and thus Corruption is born.
So as a warning to you all; tread carefully when wielding the powers of Light or Darkness, for if you are not careful, Corruption will surface within. The Corruption will then grow and as it continues to grow it will contaminate your very soul until you are turned into a beast of Chaos that will obliterate all of those you know and love.
And with their blood on your hands...well... you will never return to being Pure again.
Image pictured is her casual wear. For school she wears a school uniform, but she retains her hairstyle, scarf, and nail polish. Height: 5'4" Weight: 110 (quite underweight for her age and height)
True to her blood type, Chiharu doesn't often display her true feelings about most situations, including her illness, instead opting for the appearance of a healthy, confident, and spunky young woman. When it gets to be too much for her to handle, she often "explodes" on the people she cares about most, giving the impression that she has a split-personality, but she earnestly attempts to stay strong for her friends and family. Under normal circumstances, she is quite cheerful and sweet, and has no trouble sympathizing with the plights of others. When tense, she has a tendency to lash out at others. She can be a little too reliant on praise and approval, and tries to avoid "rocking the boat" whenever possible. In school, she has above-average grades in every subject except for Physical Education, which she does quite poorly in. She does not have an after-school activity, leaving her free after school.
Chiharu was born to a well-off family, her father being an owner of an electronics manufacturing facility and her mother being a lawyer. She was diagnosed with numerous health complications as an infant, with little hope of surviving past adulthood. Her problems seem to be mostly on a respiratory and metabolic level (difficulty breathing and being underweight), but lately she appears to have developed signs of anemia (pale skin, fatigue) as well. Her parents, crippled by the cost of medical treatment and the trauma induced by watching their only daughter struggle through her childhood, threw themselves into their professions. As a result, they had apparently distanced themselves from Chiharu, numbing themselves to the emotional turmoil.
As Chiharu entered into her 2nd year at Kitamon High, her mother treated her as though she were already dead; she often ignored her, never asking where she was going, or how her studies were coming along. Her father was almost never home, but often left pocket money for her before leaving for work. The neglect took its toll on Chiharu, giving her the impression that nothing she did would be worthwhile as long as her parents assumed she'd never live long enough to make them proud. Instead of succumbing to the negativity, she focused what energy she had on her friendships. She had lost some, though; her refusal to go home occasionally put off some of her friends, since they had no idea of Chiharu's home life.
Her given name, Chiharu, can mean "thousand, spring". This can relate to the blossoming and fragility of flowers, just like Chiharu herself.
Can cook well
Is afraid of most animals
Does not like people referring to her as 'weak' or 'sickly'
Persona Name: Ho Hsien-ku
Bufu (Light Ice < 1)
Dia (Light Heal < 1) Bufudyne (Heavy Ice < All) Diarahan (Fully heal one person) Tetrakarn (Repel physical attacks for one turn)
Persona Stats: You will have 20 Skill Points to start off with. Distribute them however you like among these stats:
Ho Hsien-ku is represented holding a lotus blossom (a symbol of purity) and a peach. The legend is that she lived in the time of the Empress Wu (684-705 A.D.) in the Yun-mu (Cloud Mother) Mountains.
One night she had a dream that she should grind up a stone called Yun-mu and eat it. She did and vowed chastity at the same time. She then floated from mountain peak to peak gathering fruits which she gave to her mother (she having no need to eat). The Empress heard of her and summoned her to the court but on the way she disappeared. In this way she became an immortal.
She is a patron deity of women.
The Star Arcana is also commonly associated [with] hope, self-confidence, faith, altruism, luck, generosity, peace and joy.
"It's a strong card, one that gives hope to those on the ground below. It shines in times of need. But, eventually, it is destined to fall to the earth and disappear... Even I can feel the sadness of this inescapable destiny..." - Margaret
The tie between Chiharu, Ho Hsien-ku, and the Star Arcana is clear; Ho Hsien-ku is a Taoist deity that represents mental and physical health, and is meant to bring happiness and luck. The purpose of the legend is to show that "a situation can be eased or resolved through trust, willingingness, and open-heartedness", which is clearly Chiharu's main struggle as she tries to open up about her health. It is important to note that Ho Hsien-ku's tale ends with her gaining immortality. What does this mean for Chiharu?
Lastly, do you know any words that start with F? Fsteak!
