Yeah, there is precedent for Westeros having odd names for creatures; shadowcats for pumas/mountain lions, lion-lizards for crocodiles, manticores for scorpions. Maybe a narwharl is a seahorn? Seahorse?

Well, in one of the books someone tries to assassinate Daenerys with "a manticore", which is described as being hilariously poisonous and being like some sort of chitonous insect small enough to be hidden inside a box of jewels. Scorpion seemed the most logical real-world equivalent, give that if was a "real" manticore it would be the size of a lion lol

Yeah, a narwhal is just a horned whale. I was just thinking that maybe there'd be another word for it.

I think manticores are supposed to be able to 'fold themselves up' to the size of a scarab? (in ASoIaF)

I like Rustwater, it's fitting.
Then, I'd go with the sinking ship because I feel like it fits 'Rustwater' better, but I'd be fine with the narwhal. They are both good ideas.
I don't really know anything about coats of arms, so sorry if my suggestions were unreasonable. I was just trying to think of a way were both parties could be happy

I'm throwing my weight behind Narwhal. If we can't call it a narwhal for whatever reason then I like the idea of lancewhale from the above list. I also support Rustwatter as the name of the fammily and Hailshore for our stronghold, as mentioned before.

Thought I'd provide some geographical info to get you guys acquainted with our neighbours and sow some inspirational seeds. Note that I drew the borders very loosely based on the canon as only a brief description is given by it. The ranks I've given are based on influence as evinced by the A Song of Ice and Fire wiki. The dot in the south of our territory I was using as an indicator for Hailshore. Does that seem ok with people?

Just putting in my input. I'm propose a swordfish on the house sigil, Rustwater seems quite nice (and makes the house seem abundant with the iron resource), and the motto I propose is Fear the High Tide.

Okay well hi to all! I'm as well very interested and it sounds awesome to focus on a single House. I don't want to interfere to your plans about name, sigil or coat of arms. For now, everything is fine for me. I do have experience about ASOIAF(I have read first pages of FOTC) so I'm looking forward to this. At the moment I won't put my cs in, but as soon as we get things clear I'll post or send it to GM(however we are supposed to do it).
