MARIEMAIA DUPREE
[ma-ree-may-a]
Mariemaia Dupree is a vampire. She was bitten only a few days after her wedding, a wedding to a man that she didn’t even love nor want. It had been arranged by her father, a highly respected British noble who wanted to make more connections and selling his daughter off was the best way. She and her husband were complete opposites. While she dreamed of grand adventures, all he wanted to do was attend garden parties and other boring activates. Shortly after their quick and meaningless marriage, she left her husband to visit her sister in the country. She said it was because she missed her dear sister, but in reality she just wanted to get away from him as fast as possible. But on her way there, she was cornered by a group of passing vampires. But these were not the stray vampires that roamed the night, attacking any poor soul that happened to pass their way, but a sophisticated group that asked consent before administering the bite. Declan, their leader, offered Mariemaia a way to escape from her boring life and without a thought, she took it.
For years she traveled with her vampire family, and they taught her the ways of their life. Instead of attacking a human like some deranged animal, they showed her how to seduce, and lure men and sometimes women, into her trap. She didn't kill them though, but only took enough blood to last until her next feed, and like that she lived. But like any good thing, it had to end. Declan eventually grew tired of life and its longevity, having lived for over a thousand years, and walked out into the sun(how very Edward Cullen of you), until the rays burned away his flesh and he became nothing but a pile of ashes. Without their leader, the little family broke apart and went their separate ways, leaving Mariemaia alone once more. By this time, her father had long passed and her husband, if she could even still call him that, was an old man. Everyone assumed that she had died out in the country, though the body was never found, so she had no one to return to. But now that she had no family to follow or a husband to look after, she could finally get that adventure she always dreamed of. Packing her life away in a single bag, she took to the seas and became a pirate. She slowly built her own crew, collecting individuals from all corners of the Earth, and became their Captain.
One day, her ship came across The FlyingDeath and she unthinkingly challenged Jecht to a battle. The dual was long and tiresome, and by the end of it, she had finally met her match. She ended up loosing the battle but she had also fallen in love. Jecht sank her ship, just because he could, but not before taking all of her treasure and her supplies. But as she prayed to the heavens for a swift death, Jecht gave her the offer of joining his crew. Sure, that meant she wouldn't be a captain anymore, but she would be alive and evenmore so she would be able to travel with Jecht. So that's what she did.
Her love for Jecht hasn't gone away and she's at the point where she's pining for him. She doesn't really understand that relationship between him and Trixxtal and thinks that they are just good friends. Which is why she is confused whenever Jecht doesn't pick up on her hints. She's planning to take things slow, they are vampires afterall and has all the time in the world, so for now she isn't rushing into things.
