United Nations Mecha Corps Piloting Academy

In 2111, the UN initiated a program to locate and train the best mecha pilots on Earth. They produced a virtual reality cockpit arcade game, that was mass produced and put in video arcades all over Europe and America where anyone could try their hand for a handful of quarters. The top performers are located and subjected to a further battery of physical, psychological and intellectual aptitude tests to determine their worth as soldiers and as pilots. The very best of the best are sent to the United Nations Mecha Corps Piloting Academy.

Everyone else goes to UNMC Reserve Academy.

This is only a semi-serious RP, there will be gags and jokes and stupid adventures, all crammed into a mech piloting school. You will be playing the rejects and castoff from the UN's pilot training program. Basically, you scored high as a pilot, but were rejected from the primary program due to your scores on the physical, intellectual or psychological tests.


A few things that I know people are going to ask:

Mecha in this will come in a few different shapes. Something that should be noted is that the bigger the mecha, the more legs it needs to support itself. We will probably be dealing primarily with quadruped models.
Primary weapons will be long range, and any short range weapons will be things like plasma torches and cutters, no swords or any of that.

You will not have your own personal mech. When and if you get into a real life cockpit, it will be a government owned piece of weaponry, not your personal ride. All joyrides will be done strictly in the middle of the night without the knowledge of our superiors.

Glad to see some interest. Here's a bit more info about the world here. Feel free to point out anything that you think is unrealistic, or to add your own ideas. I'm open to suggestion.


Countries of interest:

America: Still one of the greatest military powers in the world, rivaled only by China(who's so secretive, it's difficult to tell for sure). In a characteristic bid for power, the United States has offered to host the UNMC Piloting Academy. They were the obvious choice, having all the military equipment and space needed for it.

Germany: Germany's excellent engineering give them one of the greatest tank and mecha based militaries in the world. They are a big customer of China, who has access to the raw materials that they need.

China: The Chinese government's attempts to lower their population have been quite successful. Unfortunately, this has led to fewer workers for their notorious sweatshops. Goods produced in China have raised in price, and are usually not considered worth buying, especially in America.

United Kingdom: A short civil war fifteen years ago between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland unified the two, losing some of the UK's land and causing an influx of immigrants who were still loyal to the Queen.

Republic of Ireland: The pound of Northern Ireland has been exchanged for the Euro with an unusually generous exchange rate, leaving the Northern Irish just a bit richer at the expense of the tax payers, and creating a certain amount of animosity between the North and the South.

North and South Korea don't exist anymore. We don't talk about that.
