Imperial Armada Officer's Academy

I know some of you see the title and are like "Ugh, another Academy RP?" and some of you are like, "Hooray, another Academy RP!"

Well this one is a different take on a traditional academy. First off, it takes place in my science fiction universe, the link to some general data (WIP) available in my sig. Second, rather than being a pure "slice of life" type RP, this one has a bit more story focus... character focus and all that is still a big thing, but the students in the Imperial Academy will be assigned to a starship and tasked with training missions.

That's right, you get to go out into space and control a starship. And things might actually become more serious than a mere training mission...

So who is interested in a space armada academy type RP?

I seem interested, but I will need to go over your universe's information, I was a co-creater of a universe in a forum rp and it did great, so I may confer some knowledge towards you, so long as you don't become enraged at someone talking over what they know with you.

I have and I have read some of what you have written, my first question is what races are in your universe, I saw no definate list, it would be helpful and exspansive if you would create a list of diverse, unique, and a quite exciting to have a range of races all with different origins such as: Avian, Reptillian, Amphibious, Feline, Rodent... etc.

As for races... there are plenty. In fact, I give creative license to players to create their own alien races so long as they're biologically feasible. The dominant race in the Achenaran Imperium is of course the Achenaran race, which is very human-like. The existence of human-like aliens in the universe is explained as a possibility of galactic seeding that may have been conducted by a precursor race called the Prometheans.

But yes, I allow "create your own race" in this RP.

Can you call them something other then Prometheans? That name is overused in the scenerio you are using it in, examples: Mass Effect, Halo, and several Indie universes.

I've been calling them Prometheans for years... it's a bit too late to change it now. That's what the Achenarans call them, at least. Other races might call them something else. Their true name might be something entirely different, but no one really knows what they called themselves for sure.

Anyway, it doesn't matter all that much, as they're mostly just a plot device.

Yeah, still, it seems so stereo-typical, no offense seriously, I was just requesting it, but nevertheless, you also don't have a detailed technology spot, my main question is, Can Melee fighters still compare to ranged fighters in this universe?

The technology is a work in progress, however....

In the case of Achenarans, typical infantry are equipped in battlesuits, basically powered armor with built in weapon systems. Achenar is one of like three empires in the known galaxy that has been able to scale force field generators down to battlesuit-sized force fields, which stop energy and projectile attacks. However, melee weapons can pass through a force field unhindered (a projectile or beam weapon must exceed a certain velocity for the shield to stop it). So while melee weapons are considered obsolete by many, they've come back into battlefield usefulness in the Imperium, primarily for corridor combat on ships (their range is still too limited to be of use on a planetary battlefield).

Awesome, but say something like a marauder/highwayman attack happens while traversing land, the close quarters the marauders create while stealing or hijacking things would allow for melee fighters excel. Thank you, I would love to join this rp, if you don't mind I would like to create a race.
