The night was still young as the beast emerged from his pitch-black cavern, looking to fill his bottomless stomach. Smells filled Asterion's nose as he stood... analyzing which way he would dash off in search of tonights hunt. Navy blue skies were dotted with bright stars, highlighted by a full moon that lit the valley ablaze. A slow grunt escaped his mouth as the beast noticed a stronger smell than the others... the sweet stench of blood. The hooves below sunk into the soft dirt, the dew covering his fur with each step he took. A path of uprooted trees littered Asterion's back, each grasp propelling him closer and closer towards the smell. Eventually the beast noticed flashing in the distance, it was something he had seen before... They were flashlights. Tonights feast was human flesh.
It had been far too long since Asterion had seen a human. They weren't the greatest to eat because of their size and the amount of bones he had to pick out of his teeth, but he'd take it. As Asterion got closer, he could see the silhouette of multiple humans. The stench of blood was too strong to ignore, and eventually the beast began to fiend for the taste. With a slow approach, facing the back of the humans, Asterion inched closer and closer to his kill. The plan was to crush the closest human, moving to the next, mauling him/her with his sharp claws. It was time. The beast licked his lips and got into striking position, choosing his target quickly. The intense tunnel vision served fatal for the human as Asterion lunged and swiped, taking the mans head clean off in his vicious rage. He quickly turned and grabbed the human to his left, smashing them against a tree trunk, effectively severing the spine. The final standing human turned towards Asterion and fired off a few shots that were dodged quickly by the blood-thirsty monster, and the man eventually lost the battle.
It was over. All the targets were down and the beast began to circle his kill, sniffing about at each one until he caught a whiff of the smell he remembered... The SWEET blood. It was a fragile girl, not likely to satisfy his hunger but the smell of her blood was overwhelming. Asterion trotted towards the girl slowly, inhaling deeply, savoring the smell, getting excited at the sight of her wound. She trembled under him, tightly grasping her arm in fear.
