John looked at Kardi with a look of confusion on his face "what're talking abo....? Oh right." He said as he looked down at the massive scar on his chest. He looked back up at Kardi as he spoke "Got it while I was pirating, it's no big deal." John walked past her and continued on the way back to town. On his back was several more scars, a bullet hole obviously from a flintlock near the middle of his back, but to the side of the spine. As well as a stab wound on the lower left side of his back, he turned his head and looked back at Kardi "You coming?"

Kardi's tear fell followed by another. Never in Kardi's life had she seen such bad wounds. Kardi wanted to yell at him that it wasn't nothing. That she thought if she had ever seen that happen to him in real time she might not know what to do with herself. That when she saw those scars it made her worry about John. They made her wonder if he would be okay in the future. None of that came out of Kardi's mouth though. Instead her head went down when he turned. She bent over ,and grabbed the necklace. "Just didn't want to leave this here" She said biting her tongue to hold in her silent words.

John walked on happily unaware of Kardi's concern "This is going to be a great meal!" he said chuckling as they walked on. "So you think we got enough food for dinner?" John asked, his stomach rumbling from hunger. John stepped over a log laying in the middle of the path "watch your step." he told Kardi. John lifted the deer off his shoulder placing it on the other shoulder, his muscles twisting and flexing under the weight of the two deer. He had gained a lot of muscle while he was out Pirating, lifting the kegs onto the ship, and carrying all of the loot they got from the raiding.

"I'm pretty sure with two deer ,and my lovely bird we will have enough" Kardi rolled her eyes with a laugh. How could he do that? Well, to be honest it wasn't just him. Most people could sway Kardi's emotions easily with something she found funny. Kardi attached the necklace she found to her neck. The gold chain shined in the light with an unusual florescence. Kardi played it off as a trick of the light ,and returned her thought to dinner. She could grab some berries and a few vegetables from her garden. She decided this would be the root she would take. With the cold night coming a nice hearty stew would be perfect. Kardi stepped over the object she was instructed to ,and carried on ahead. "John tell me a story. The forest proves to quiet" Kardi asked.

John walked on, turning his head he smiled over his shoulder at Kardi "Tell you a story? what type of story pray tell do you wish for me to tell you?" He retorted as he turned his head back the direction he was walking. John stopped at the branch he slide under earlier, he shook his head a little embarrassed in the fact that he almost smashed into the branch. After he let Kardi catch up to him he stepped over the branch, easily getting over it with a look of dissatisfaction on his face.

Kardi chuckled at his question. "How about a story of our past.....a memory" Kardi prompted. Kardi stepped over the branch with glee. She truly loved memories. They were better then the future seemed to be. When she used to run free with the other boys. When she wasn't stuck up in a stuffy house in a corset. A bunny ran past her feet ,and Kardi saw it as a sign of good luck.

John smiled at Kardi's suggestion "A story of our past huh?" he said as he walked on, he thought over the many different stories he had held onto over the years. "Ah i got the perfect one." He said as he looked over his shoulder at Kardi "Well, it started early in the morning, the old gang had gathered together and was wondering what to do that day. The soon to be youngest member of our gang came running up late as usual, she was a rather boyish girl and I had fun messing with her." John smirked as he spoke of Kardi in the younger days. "The leader of the gang, the girls oldest brother, asked the group if it would be alright if she were to join the gang." John cleared his throat "Now you continue the story."

"The girl was overly excited to join ,but unfortunately most of the boys were not to accepting of the idea. There was one boy in particular who didn't want a girl in the gang. The girl was incredibly stubborn. So when the boy who had a strange love of pirates told the girl to and I quote "Go find her mother and get back in the kitchen" the girl would have none of it" Kardi explain with a bit of a laugh at the end. She pushed back a branch that was held right where she needed to go. "The girl replied by punching the boy in the face" Kardi added laughing again. "No you continue" Kardi told him running ahead of his large frame.

John laughed, he remembered that punch quite vividly, he had never felt such a punch from a girl before "Well after the boy was punched in the face, he tackled the girl to the ground and started wrestling with her." John said with a smirk on his face as he caught up to Kardi quickly. "So the boy obviously won the fight and had pinned the girl to the ground but the girl had put up a good fight, so the boy decided it wouldn't be so bad if she joined." John looked over at Kardi as he finished speaking "Your turn."

"As the day grew old and the gang had played. most of the boys seemed to still treat that girl the way you were supposed to and wouldn't let her do most things. One of the boys did not. He treated her not like an equal ,but he didn't hold back like the other boys. The girl pretended not to like these teasing and strange ways of acceptance. On the inside he was her favorite of the gang. before the sunset and they all headed home the boy teased the girl one last time by tripping her. After a whole day of this the girl had finally figured her only advantage to this boy. so being a "lady" now I cannot rightly say what she did. But something tells me that you and your family jewels remember" Kardi finished exiting the woods. She opened the back door to her house ,and let John inside with his deer. "Just set them on the table over there" Kardi instructed.
