★Basic Plot★
A group of teenagers wake up and find out they are dead. In order to get their life back, they give up their most precious treasure in order to become players in a game run by the Reapers. The winners of the game have their treasure returned and come back to life. The game lasts seven days and requires the player to find a partner called a shikigami, powerful beings that can access and share their power through a pact. The game, however, is dangerous and players must fulfill missions set be the Reapers within the time limit. Failure of any mission results in erasure. Defeat by an attacking Reaper results in erasure. Defeat by dangerous minions of Reapers called noise result in erasure. But the game is not all that it seems, and secrets plots are unknown to the players, who just think they are playing to win back their lives. The Conductor and Composer, leaders of the Reapers and Shikigami, respectively, have their own agendas with this game. The game is the conclusion of a long war between reapers and shikigami. The war has existed in secret from most of the living humans on earth. Shikigami are former humans who gave up reincarnation in favor of becoming powerful beings who guard humans. Reapers are similar to shikigami, except their origins are unknown and they wreck havoc on earth. The winner of the game wins the war, and if the players and their shikigami partners lose, the reapers have free reign over earth and enslave the shikigami.

★Background Information★
☆The Afterlife☆
When teenagers with troubled pasts die, or they die without peace, they end up in a special world in the afterlife made just for them. They get the opportunity to experience the childhood they were robbed of and once they become happy enough to make peace with themselves, they can finally move on. But moving on for them is one of two options: to be reincarnated into a new life, or to forever give up on a new life by becoming a powerful being called a Shikigami.

☆The Shikigami☆
Shikigami are powerful creatures who stay in the afterlife simply called the shikigami world. Those who become shikigami gain an alternate form they can access by activating a tattoo that is placed somewhere on their body. The purpose of the shikigami is to protect the world of the living and they get called down by the reincarnated humans to serve their purpose.
The reincarnated humans from that world that was only for troubled teenagers are the only ones able to summon them because their soul went through a different process in the afterlife. Some may remember their previous self, some may not, some may only experience in a dream, and most usually remember after a near death experience, but all of them can be heard by the shikigami, who will appear before them if they need help. After becoming aware of the shikigami, they can summon them to earth anytime if they do the proper ritual.
To become a shikigami, however, is not easy. Shikigami give up the opportunity to ever be reincarnated and when they die, they vanish. There is a competition in which the potential shikigami must fight and kill one another off. They do not heal like they did in their teenage afterlife, and instead the losers get reincarnated into humans. At least, that is what they are told by their ruler, the Composer.

☆The Reapers☆
The reapers are destructive, violent creatures who appear on earth and wreck havoc. They are the reasons that shikigami need to be summoned to earth and reapers will often fight a human who has summoned a shikigami. The reapers look and think human, like shikigami, except that their alternate forms and tattoos turn them into demonic looking creatures. The reapers appear on earth in a sudden black fog and remain until their death. Their lifespan depends on how much human souls they “erase”. They work for the Conductor.

☆The War☆
Basically it is reaper versus shikigami, but since shikigami cannot roam earth freely like reapers, the shikigami depend on humans to summon them during fights. These battles have been going on for a long time and the reapers have begun to grow in numbers and gain the advantage.

☆The Composer & Conductor☆
The Composer, the creator of Shikigami and who is in control of the shikigami world and the teenager’s afterlife, proposes a way to end the secret war. He proposes a game similar to the way shikigami are chosen – a competition. The winner gets control of the other group and gets to choose what happens to earth. The leader of the reapers, the Conductor, agrees.

That is what the humans, shikigami, and reapers are told.

The true reason for the teenager’s troubled afterlife is to find and gather the strongest souls. Those who choose to become shikigami fight amongst themselves and the strongest get the power of a shikigami, who will then be controlled by the souls who chose reincarnation. Those who fail the shikigami test or those shikigami who die become reapers. They specifically choose teenagers because they become the strongest shikigami. The composer and conductor are working together without the knowledge of their underlings- they have orchestrated the war in order to keep balance in the world. The conductor realizes that there is an overflow of reapers and they need to get rid of some of them, so the composer proposes the game and purposely set it to where the shikigami and players have the advantage.

☆The Game☆
The main players of the game are recently dead teenagers who would have originally have been sent to the Composer’s afterlife world. They are told that if they give up their most pressure treasure then they can become the players of a game and the winner of the game will come back to life. In order to win, the player must find a shikigami and make a pact with them to become their partner for the game. They walk around a large city as ghosts, solving puzzles set by the reapers. The game lasts seven days and each day one reaper is in charge of setting a mission that all the players must complete in a set time limit. Any pair that does not complete the mission is “erased” and along the way reapers may try to get in the way of their mission to “erase” them. The shikigami and player character can kill any reaper they meet without penalty, but if they lose, they will most likely be erased by the victorious reaper.
The shikigami only has access to their power if they form a pact with a player, and once their pact is form, the power is shared between both the player and shikigami.

☆The Pact☆
The players are powerless on their own and the shikigami cannot use their powers without a human, so they must form pacts with each other. They can only form a pact once in the game, so if their partner dies, then they are as good as dead. The player receives a magical pendant that will transform them into a KAWAII alternate form that grants them powers. The powers depends on the shikigami they made a pact with.

Lucius is a shikigami. He, like most of his kind, does not remember his human life, or even how old he is, just that he is supposed to protect the humans of Earth. His normal appearance is that of a white haired teenager, with one blue eye and one gold eye. He has a tattoo of a moon on his cheek that allows him to transform into his alternative form. He has the ability of flight in both forms, but it is only in his alternative does he have enhanced senses, along with cute little ears and bat wings. Despite his calm appearance in the first picture, his real attitude reflects that of the second. He is very aggressive and hot headed and will quickly point out the flaws of others and make fun of them. He steamrolls over other people's feelings and only cares about himself...which is why making a pact with him will be a very difficult task.

Crypt is a reaper who, like most other reapers, woke up one day with only the instincts to destroy the planet and no memory of his past. However, once the Conductor spoke of the game, Crypt was one of the reapers chosen to participate and he is one of the commanders who assigns missions to players. In his human form he does not speak, but only communicates with the green floating orbs that surround him because they can shift form into letters or symbols. His tattoo is the green line around his stitched-lips, but when he changes into his reaper form the tattoo shifts onto the side of his face and he gains the ability to speak again because his mouth is no longer sewn shut. It's like he gets a magical makeover because his hair stops being ridiculously wild and its tamed with hair ties and his little glowing floaty spheres become solid and form into a necklace around his neck. His clothes get less plain and more Asian looking, too. Crypt's hands turn into claws, almost like scary sasukes, but less gay and they are not wings sprouting on his back. In fact, they are more like stone gloves on his hands. And that weird thing on his eye helps him adjusts to light and darkness so he can see better.

She's a butterfly shikigami.

In her human form, she has a butterfly tattoo on her back and has no wings.

Rhea can be pretty cunning and has no problem playing tricks on people who are naive enough to fall for her schemes. She won't listen to people if she thinks they are annoying and she is very judgmental, which causes her to make enemies needlessly. She has a lot of pride and can sometimes act narcissistic, but her confidence aids her in battle when she has to fight.

He's a shikigami that can control fire.

He tends to act very serious all the time and does not know the meaning of fun. Rolan likes to get things done as fast as possible and never procrastinates; he values hard work and will try to push others to stop being lazy if he sees them slacking off. He sometimes gets bossy and wants things to go only his way and he has a hard time listening to others' ideas because he has the opinion that everyone else is foolish.

HE WAS ON HIS SCHOOL'S SWIM TEAM AND HE REALLY LOVES WATER.

SADLY, WHILE ON A CRUISE DURING HIS VACATION, A ROGUE WAVE HAPPENED AND HE BECAME STRANDED IN THE OCEAN AND THE BOAT WAS LONG GONE.

AWAY FROM LAND AND STRANDED AT SEA, HE EVENTUALLY FELL ASLEEP AFTER FAILING TO STAY AWAKE FOR SEVERAL DAYS SO HE ENDED UP DROWNING.

BUT EVEN IN DEATH, HE STILL LOVES THE WATER, AND HE AGREED TO PLAY THE GAME IN ORDER TO RETURN TO LIFE SO THAT ONCE AGAIN HE BE WITH THE WATER.

Unlike most players, who gave up something like memories of their family, or an item from a loved one, Hayato gave up the ability to be near water. He can no longer swim, and if he gets hit by water he cannot feel it at all, basically some external force will keep him from water.

MAKOTO NANASE

Before his death, Makoto had a passion for singing and wanted to become a professional ever since he was a child. He started taking lessons from a local teacher and it was then that people began to notice his natural talent. His mother was his biggest supporter and paid for all of his classes, going as far as flying him to America to get a record deal with one of the Hollywood agents. He wasn't able to get one, but once he returned to Japan, he was scouted by an agent who was an old friend of Makoto's first singing coach and offered his services to him. He was actually in the process of getting a label when he died.

Shortly after turning seventeen, Makoto was murdered by his father, who had slowly been growing insane as the days passed until he suddenly snapped one night and shot down his wife, Makoto and his little sister Naoto as they slept in their beds. Afterwards, he set the house on fire and committed suicide, following his family into the afterlife.

His most prized possession that he gave up as an entry free was, of course, his ability to sing. But not only that, but his ability to speak as well. He never learned sign language during his life, so he uses vague gestures to what he's trying to say or where he wants to go. He also uses his phone and text messaging to talk to others.

Still, despite loosing his voice, Makoto is very optimistic and is appreciative that he has a second chance to live. He isn't competitive in the slightest, but he does want to live again and will do his best to achieve that.

Yukio is a reaper. He like all other reapers, has no recollection of his past life. The only thing he does know is-he likes metal. Anything to do with metallic things, he can control. His tattoo on his left shoulder allows him to transform into a somewhat beautiful creature even though he's supposed to be ugly looking. Guess the afterlife blessed him somewhat. Don't be fooled by his reaper transformation, he likes to kill. His life literally depends on it. When in reaper form, his claws that he has in his human form combine and make one awesome sword which he likes to stab people with. Also, when in reaper mode, he becomes more of an arrogant son of a bitch then when he's human, which is always fun.
Some say, he's the life of the party.

MAAYA NAGISA

Maaya went to a prestigious academy when she was alive, despite being from a middle class family. She was raised by a single mother, after her father's untimely death, who worked two jobs to support her family. Maaya was able to make it into the academy due to her great grades and shining recommendations. During her first year, she was often looked down upon by her classmates because of her social status, but during her second year, that began to change. She made herself known by joining different afterschool clubs and excelling in them all. She eventually made her own group of friends and was treated like everyone else.

Halfway through her second year, she developed the same illness that her father passed away from, which was hereditary, and died in the hospital a month later. Her entry free into the game was her cellphone, that contained pictures of her friends and late father, aswell as their contact numbers and text conversations. She was given a new cellphone, a completley blank one, that she uses during the game.
