Meant mainstream, as in here, on Roleplayerguild. You don't see many rp's based around scout ships

actually, the Defiant is the only Federation vessel to be designated as a "Warship." according to Sisko, they were built to fight the Borg, and though they were labelled as "Escorts" they were nothing less than Warships. they had all of the comforts removed in order to make room for weapons and shielding, she was so over-gunned that she almost tore herself apart during the shake-down, they had to limit her engine-output as it almost took a chunk out of itself when pushing the engines to max.

it was due to these flaws, the diminishing Borg Threat, and the cost-effectiveness of it, that the plans were mothballed.

the Defiant was a warship, nothing less, she is much better armed than even the Galaxy-Class ships... before they were refitted for the War.

U.S.S. Yggdrasil: one of the few Excelsiors to survive the Dominion War, she was crippled during a battle with the Breen and was forced to dump the Warp Core and take refuge in a Nebula, she managed to jump a passing Breen Ship and disable her, they then installed the Breen Warp Core and E.M.P. cannon, they were allowed to keep this as part of the War Reperations. attempts to recreate it have been... less than successful, it appears that only the Breen Warp Core is compatible with it.
