TheBeginning (IC [Always Open-Refer to OOC])

Scar frowned. They had given these people a chance at greatness, and yet they simply wanted to enjoy life! They should be out fighting! Destroying things with their abilities, yet they were too stupid to see that they even had any! He would change it. He would show them their errors. He opened the gate and walked in, vanishing in a mist of blackness.

Flare stepped out of the ship and onto the hard-packed soil. No wonder mot farmers hated this land. It was rocky as ever. He shrugged and walked on. He could feel it: the auras. He stopped just outside of The Raging Boar, one of North Urth's most prominent bars. He slipped on his hood and walked inside as he continued scanning the minds. He would find them eventually.

    Somewhere on Arkaden
A shadow swept across an alley. Franklin knew this was the spot. This was where he was told to meet up with him. Him. The best assassin out there. Him. The one whose name was nly known to the dead orfamily of his. A footstep. Franklin turned and gazed upon the man in a green cloak.
"Welcome." The man said. "I knew you would come."
"W-who are you?" The tall, burly Franklin Rotts questioned.
"Me? I first need to know one thing before you may know my name."
    "What is it?"
"You see, I need a partner. With your ability, this may yet be a flourishing partnership. Would you be willing to be that partner?"
    "Of course."
    "My name is Liam Bradley."

It was yet another day for Logan, selling trinkets, weapons, and armor to those who came to his caravan's shop. North Urth was a very good place to trade all manner of wares, especially with all the traffic that comes and goes from here. After a rough day of bartering, he had retired to a bustling tavern called the Raging Boar for a drink. "Raging boar? Hah, must be quite a story behind that name." he said to himself. He typically tried to avoid particularly thriving or particularly desolate taverns; the former because they were too noisy and open to brawls, and the latter because when you take a drink in those kinds you end up chained to a bed with the bartender trying to extort money from you. Fun times.

Regardless, he had gone this particular day to the Raging Boar because he had a certain client that wanted to meet him here. Typically when a request like that was made they wanted some kind of contraband or otherwise dangerous object. Logan didn't mind fulfilling these requests on occasion, after all, money was good for these kinds of projects, just as long as the client didn't drag him into any gang wars or some wizard seeking a powerful artifact to take over the world or something. After some searching, he found the client.

"Ah, Logan, so glad you came!" said the client, a sharp dresser of a Neo said to him.

"And I'm glad to meetcha." he responded "Now then, what was it that you wanted." he asked, his voice lowering a bit.

"Oh, nothing much, just a MX-77 Accelerator."

"Huh...those are quite illegal and very expensive to procure. Mind if I ask why you want one?"

"Simple, you see, tomorrow there's a marathon going on, it'll give me quite the cash prize if I can win."

"I see, you do realize the...complications that tend to arise from that device yes?"

"Yeah yeah, but I'll only use it for one race. I'll pay you @5000 for it."

Now started the bartering phase. It was always Logan's favorite part of the deal, making as much money as possible while still keeping the customer happy. He knew that it generally took @6000 to actually get it and @500 more to make sure it isn't bugged or defective or whatnot. Logan soon made a counter offer.

"Hah! You'll need to do better than that partner, how's about @8000?"

    "Err, okay, how about @6500?"

"Nah, I can't go much lower than @7500 buddy."

"WHAT? I only make @8000 if I win the race. You gotta get me a better deal."

"Sorry, but @7500 is as low as I can go."

The Neo, getting rather annoyed by this point, pulled out a laser and said "Look pal, I tried to be reasonable with you, but now I want that part for free, you understand?"

"Oh I understand, but you aren't getting it for free." Logan said. Immediately the Neo took a shot, but his aim was terrible and in no time Logan had pinned him to the ground. "Now then, you willing to give up or do I have to get messy?"

A few seconds passed without a reply, then the Neo, rather shaken by the ordeal said "Okay...@7500 it is...but I ain't paying a cent of it until you get it to me!"

"No worries on that front mate." Logan said, releasing his grip on the Neo. He then went to another corner, and tried to be as inconspicous as possible. Most of the patrons ignored what must have been a common occurrence with only a few paying much attention at all.

Alina walked off the transport, adjusting the rifle that was slung over her shoulder. Due to her equipment, she was earning a few stares by the surrounding locals, but she didn't care. She walked along the pathway until she stopped in front of a bar known as The Raging Boar. Sighing, she walked into the bar, hoping that she might for once relax and try to forget what she saw. Forget what she went through. Out of instinct, she immediately began to evaluate all of the potential things that could happen if things went south, but she stopped herself.

"No, I'm here to forget and enjoy, not to fight..." She thought to herself.

Alina walked over to the bar and sat down, forcefully ignoring the quarrel that was happening between the dwarf and his client. Hunched over like most people, she ordered a simple beer to start off with, thinking she would go easy since it was her first time in awhile since she had consumed alcohol, but as time went on, the number of empty glasses around her began to grow a bit. To Alina's dismay however, she only felt a bit buzzed.

"Stupid augmentations... not letting me drink myself to death..." she grumbled to herself before taking a hardy chug of her beer.

Ezzak slammed his glass down on the table. His body started to feel the effects of the alcohol but his mind was still a buzzed with frets and worries about the coming days. The farm was continuing to fail and if there was no significant change soon, then he'd be force to simply abandon it. Maybe sell it off to some person, lords knew that no farmer would want it. After generations of Bolvals tending and at times fighting the land, the land finally just gave up. Even his body was starting to falter under a lifetime of nothing but work. He still had a legacy to uphold, but was it a legacy he really wanted?

"The Bovals, the family always content to be content", he said while raising a glass to himself. Was it wrong to simply want nothing? Sure he had to forgo fancy education and the chance to see amazing wonders, but his family always taught him that it's foolish chasing an impossible dream. Many go through life just wandering from one place to another without thinking of where they belong. There's always some big score for them over that hill, or maybe it'd be the last voyage before they settle down. They have no purpose, no higher calling.

Then again, did Ezzak have any purpose by simply being content? Perhaps it really is better to chase some imaginary goal, to always dream of something better. He never thought of being anything more in life than just a lowly farmer.

He took a look around the bar, it was filled with a strange cast of characters, but every single one of them interesting and unique. They all had an adventure to share, or a boast to shout out to.

"Is it too late for me to change, do I want to change?"

Ezzak pushed those last thoughts out of his mind with another glass of alcohol.

Alina took notice to the farmer next to her raising a glass to himself then state his family was always content to be content. She noted that the farmer seem to almost have a lust in his eyes as he looked over the people at the bar. The poor man then proceeded to down another glass, as if to keep thoughts away from him like her.

"Content to be content..." she mumbled to herself, now only slightly buzzed, despite the glass she was holding was her seventh. "Now that's a motto I could live with."

She looked back down at her glass with a sad tired look on her face. She still could see it now, hear it now, feel it now that horrible day of the raid. She downed her seventh glass and motioned to the bartender to come over.

"Watcha need girl?" the bartender asked

"Obviously, this beer isn't doing it for me, do you have anything with a bit more punch?" she asked with a cold, yet almost bored tone to her voice.

"Ya I got something for ya." the bartender then proceed to hand her a bottle and a shot glass, nodded to her, then walked off. Alina didn't bother to read what the label said, just popped open the bottle and poured herself a shot, then downed it in one go.

"Jeez, he was right, this stuff is way better, doesn't taste very good, but I guess you don't drink it for the taste." she thought to herself while she took more moderate sips from the second glass.

Zeke closed the door behind him and left the old repair shop, never to return to such an skilled, unprofessional environment again. One would think that with his wide variety of knowledge on tech spanning almost half of known space, getting a simple little job in an old repair shop would be a doddle.

"I'm sorry" they said. "It wouldn't be practical" they said.

Practical? What do they know about practicality?

If they had any clue about practicality, they'd know that the Zeldanian ship sat in their garage cannot be fixed using Mariotan equipment. The Freighter-Class Z.T.S. 21B was designed and built specifically for the undercover transport of important goods, or personnel, that organizations didn't want falling into the wrong hands. If every bugger could take it apart with nothing more than your common household spoon, the Zeldanians would have abandoned their attempts to smuggle things from planet to planet and would have started wrapping things up in colorful bows and send them straight to the authorities!

Zeke glanced up and down they street, before noticing an old bar a short way down the road. The Raging Boar. His cousins from Sonica had mentioned this place in one of their many messages sent during their trip to North Urth and it's surrounding segments.

Grumpily throwing his bag back onto his shoulder, he wandered forward. When he reached the door, he could hear what he assumed to be the back end of a great ruckus between a Dwarf and a Neo. A wide variety of people scattered the bar area, many drinking their life away for many unknown reasons. Not wanting to get in anyone's way, Zeke just went straight to the bar and sat a few seats away from a guy looking like an old-style farmer and a rather imperial looking young lady that seemed to be surrounding herself with glasses. A rather impressive P2 Songbird Rifle was propped against the bar next to her. Zeke could help but notice, from his passing glances, that it, and most of the equipment that she was adorned with, was adjusted to suit its user to an extremely precise level. Never before had he seen such precision! Only the best would be able to use that equipment, and he had no doubts that she must be one of the best.

Vaka walked sullenly towards the bar with her hands in her coats pockets fidgeting with her phone and the earphone jack as she passed the now all to familiar faces and streets on the way to the boar. She didnt mind she was being called in and she really didnt mind that she was working with Leo, another halfling. She could hear that the bar was already in full swing for the night. She quickly slipped into the bar and went behind the bar and started to take off her coat, she nodded to Leo as she scanned the room, the usual cast was seen with a few new faces.

Vaka tied on an apron before walking over to the exmitant and starting to remove the pile up of glasses, before placing a bottle of water infront of her, "Hate the world as much as you want but you don't want to hate yourself in the morning." She soon left behind the comfortable setting of behind the bar to clean up some of the tables, she saw a familiar dwarf who came in once in a while for business and asked him, "need a top up?" As much as she didnt feel like talking to people, she knew it brought back customers when she would act politely. She cleaned up the drink that had fallen over because of the now missing person from the other side of the table.

"Why does one ponder the Fates? Is it because we are striving to be gods? Do we even know what this life will bring? No, we must hope for a reprieve when we leave this world. I have lived hundreds of lifetimes, and I have yet to find an answer....."
    - Zeratul, Questions about the universe
    ------------------------
Zeratul made his way to the Raging Boar. Today was the day that his sources claimed that a high-priced target was going to be. He recieved strange stares from the people as he slowly walked through the streets. It was no suprise, for he was adorned in gold and emerald and wearing almost nothing. What little he was wearing was a simple robe-like covering and a piece of cloth covering his mouthless head, leaving just his eyes showing. These foolish beings, they live their lives without honor, without stepping from their comfort zones. No creature should ever stoop so low, thought Zeratul as he entered the bar. One very fast glance told him all he needed to know: His target was not here yet. That was no problem as he had patience beyond most species. Zeratul moved slowly towards the back of the bar, hidden within the shadows, only his green eyes showing in the darkness. He took note of the many eyes that followed him from the moment of his entrance to where he sat down. He was wearing more than most in this bar would ever make in three of their lifetimes. He breathed out slowly and silently as he knew that before he left, one or more of these lower beings would try to take what was rightfully his and die for their efforts. Every item on his person took almost a lifetime of work, meditation, and blood to aquire.

Zeratul watched as a Neo moved quickly away from a Dwarf, heading in his direction. There was a glint in his eye as he looked at him, or rather the ornate armor he wore. Exhaling slowly, he silently prayed that the lifeforce he was about to extinguish this day would be forgiven. He looked up as the Neo pulled a laser and pointed it at him, "You! I need everthing you have now. My entire life depends on this!" The entire bar was silent as they anticipated a murder before their eyes. Many tensed up because once the strange being died, they would have to move quickly to get one of the expensive items on his person. If only they had known the outcome of such a conflict, they would have just turned back to wasting their lives. Zeratul looked directly into the man's eyes and, using Private Thought-Speak, <Listen, young fool, you do not want to do this. Your life has yet to come to it's end and yet you wish to throw it away for meaningless hopes and dreams?> The Neo looked around and shook his head. The look on his face was obvious: He thought he was losing his mind. There was no "voice" yet he heard something. Like most species, this Neo was used to vocal communication. In his travels, Zeratul had only found one other species that used Thought-Speak. He took this moment of confusion to grab the Neo's wrist, flip him on the table and lean over him so they were staring eye-to-eye. Still using Private Thought-Speak, he told the man, <I do not plan unnessary deaths. I come to kill the one the stars have lined up to say. I would leave and ponder why I let you live....> Zeratul let go of the Neo and sat back as the being got up shakely and ran out of the bar. The rest of the bar let go of the breath they were obviously holding. There was no fight, as the silent stranger appeared to have done nothing more than stare at the man after flipping him over the table. If only they knew what really went on......

Ezzak was confused to say the least. First a strange...being entered the bar and someone attempted to rob him...her...it? Gender confusion was on the back of his mind however as the being deftly disarmed him and flipped him upon a table. Then...nothing happened. They remained eye to eye for a few brief moments until the being simply went away.

Ezzak leaned back from his seat facing where the scuffle happened moments before. He felt a mix of fear, vexation, and excitement. It had been long since he saw a life hang upon the will of another. Of course lives are determined by those around them, but to choose whether a another life will live another day or see the gloom of the grave must of been exhilarating. The fear in their eyes as they silently pleaded to see another day must be a sight to behold indeed! A flick of the knife, the pull of the trigger, that must be what it feels like to grasp true power.

"Wait, what am I thinking?", he thought to himself. He was never a violent man, always caring and gentle whenever needed. But still, he always dared to dream of what it would feel like to serve as a soldier. To finally travel the world and see the wonders it possessed. Of course a soldier's life was fraught with perils and dangers, both from the enemy and from allies alike. You either break the enemy, or the enemy breaks you. No one truly goes through war unscathed. Perhaps he'd simply crack under enemy fire, or maybe he'd succumb to the blood lust. Still, perhaps he should join the military if the farm failed.

But those were things to think of another time. For now, a pressing question had to be answered.

"Anyone know what just happened?", he asked to no one in particular.

Flare sat and watched the unfoldings of the bar.
    The Neo and the Dwarf.
    The two humans.
    The waitress.
The Neo and the strange species.
He witnessed it all from the back of the bar and was intrigued by the happenings between the Neo and this strange being that walked in. He simply had flipped the Neo on the table and stared at him. But Flare wasn't oblivious; he knew what really had gone on. Somehow, this species had learned to use telekinetic thought as speech rather than vocals. This made flare wish he had spent more time learning the advanced areas of Telekinetics, rather than focusing on the elements. That would have been helpful to know right then. Oh well. Flare sat back once again and watched.
